Chicago based blackened thrash metal band Usurper premiere a new song called “Warlock Moon”, taken from their upcoming new album “Lords of the Permafrost”, which will be out in stores March 22 via Soulseller Records.

Check out now “Warlock Moon” below.

Says Guitarist/vocalist Rick Scythe of the latest song:

“‘Warlock Moon is a speed metal anthem that balances unrelenting, maniacal riffage with fist-banging, barbarian power—which made it the perfect choice for the opener to side B . . . This song sounds like it could have been a lost track from our 1999 album, Skeletal Season—stripped-down, unpretentious, and 100% hard! Cram this molten slab of metal into your ear holes, and prepare for a neck-breaking frenzy!”

Michael Schenker Fest Recording New Album; Reveals New Drummer

Following on from the release of their successful debut album, Resurrection, Michael Schenker Fest are currently recording their second album, co-produced by Michael Schenker and Michael Voss, which is tentatively scheduled to be released in August 2019.

The news is bittersweet however, as the band have been mourning the passing of beloved MSF drummer Ted Mckenna.

Michael Schenker comments, “We are totally heartbroken to hear about Ted McKenna – our amazing drummer and dearest friend – passing away. It’s a massive shock and a huge loss to lose Ted so suddenly. He always had a smile on his face and was one of the most sincerely genuine people you could ever have the pleasure of meeting. One of the great rock drummers, he always played from the heart and his heart was music. Rest in peace Ted, we will miss you x.”

Today, the band announced they will be welcoming back Simon Philipps and Bodo Schopf – who each played drums in MSG – to the Michael Schenker Fest line-up. Simon who played on the MSG debut album will return as the main drummer on the upcoming second album. Due to his schedule, he is unable to be the live drummer for the upcoming US tour however, so this role will be completed by Bodo Schopf, who played on Perfect Timing and Save Yourself. With the sudden passing of Ted Mckenna, Bodo will be featured on the upcoming record but in a smaller role, as he had the important job of preparing for the US tour.

Michael Schenker states, “We are very grateful to Bodo for being a team player and working out with Simon what needs to be done in order for us to continue as smoothly as possible, and also to Simon for helping us to make it all possible. Bodo is the perfect choice to continue as the permanent drummer for Michael Schenker Fest. It is a perfect balance between the musicians from the past. It includes everything as a family to continue Michael Schenker Fest.”

Bodo comments, “I am very sorry that Ted had to leave us under these tragic circumstances and I’m proud to rock for him and all the Michael Schenker fans. RIP Ted”

Tyr Posts New Music Video “Sunset Shore” Online

On March 8th, the Faroe Islands’ Tyr will release their eighth full-length, Hel, via Metal Blade Records. Hel is a collection of ruthlessly melodic and irresistibly compelling progressive folk metal that will immediately resonate with any who have followed the band at any point over the two decades of their storied career. For a preview of the album, a video for the new single, “Sunset Shore” can be viewed below.

Týr vocalist / guitarist Heri Joensen comments: “In early January, immediately after spending our holidays in the Faroes, Gunnar and I traveled to Hungary to our bandmates, Tadeusz and Attila, in Budapest. Finally, it was time to shoot another video, our first since 2014, and we’re very happy to present this one to you!

“The Hungarian film production crew, Mihaszna Film, arranged the trips, starting from Budapest and going first to the Julian alps in Slovenia. In the fields and rivers of the snowy mountains we had some amazing scenery for ‘overworld’ part of the video. A few days later we traveled on to the caves of Szent-István in northern Hungary, and deep underground we found some dark and gloomy caves to be the perfect backdrop for the underworld part of this video.

“Terji wrote ‘Sunset Shore’, for our upcoming album, ‘Hel’ – to be relased on March 8th, and he plays the solo on the album version, but not in this video. We decided it was the perfect opportunity to introduce you all to the amazing talent of Attila Vörös, who recorded his own version of the solo a few days before the video shooting. The lyrics, written by me, are about how the mind can sometimes be a windswept and weatherworn landscape, and how the only thing to do, in spite of hopelessness and despair, is to aim for a better place and to work towards better times.

“We hope you enjoy the result!”

Delain Posts New Music Video “Masters Of Destiny” Online

The dramatic and cinematic track, “Masters Of Destiny”, is the first single from Delain’s upcoming release, Hunter’s Moon. It is one of the four brand new studio tracks that are part of the stunning live album + BluRay, which will be released on February 22nd via Napalm Records.

Delain travelled to Iceland to underline the mystic that lies within the brand new single accompanied by a breathtaking video, “Masters Of Destiny”. Watch below.

Says the band: “This is an exciting release for us, and a special one too on account of the fact that we chose one of our more elaborate and unconventional compositions for our first single, showcasing another side of ourselves as a band. We wanted to make the video like an extension to the music; to match the orchestral, instrumental and vocal bombast of the song with visuals of nature in all its grandeur, and we found the perfect backdrop for this in beautiful Iceland. We are very proud to present to you the music video for our brand new track Masters of Destiny. We hope you enjoy the journey.”

Karkaos Unleash New Music Video “Tyrants”

Montreal’s melodic death metal act Karkaos is proud to unleash their new music video “Tyrants” off their latest offering “Children of The Void” featuring new vocalist Viky Boyer, drummer Justine Ethier (Blackguard) and lead guitarist Samael Pelletier along with collaborations with guest artists Lindsay Schoolcraft (Cradle of Filth) and Morgan Lander (Kittie).

The bands comments:

“Karkaos is extremely proud to release its new video for the song ‘’Tyrants’’. This new video crafted by JP Charlebois, known for his work with Ion Dissonance and Slaves On Dope, is the perfect visual vessel to bring this song to your screen by being as brutal, relentless and intricate as the song itself.

We felt that Tyrants was the perfect song to give a second and different look to Children Of The Void. Its powerful meaning can easily be applied to our world and the weird times we all seem to be going through. We need to remember that we will always be stronger united than divided and this song is a testament to people taking the lead when our leaders couldn’t. Make sure to watch it and share it with your friends and pick up a copy of the album or some merch if you enjoyed it.”
