Altitudes & Attitude (Megadeth/Anthrax) Premiere New Single “Out Here”

Altitudes & Attitude have a new record called “Get It Out” in the works for a January 18th release via Megaforce. The band’s core consists of Megadeth‘s David Ellefson and Anthrax‘s Frank Bello and the first single from the outing has been launched in the form of the below lyric video for the song “Out Here“. Guitarist Jon Donais (Anthrax, Shadows Fall) guests on this song.

Comments Bello of this current single:

“I’ve learned that writing songs is very cathartic. A lot of these lyrics are about the inner struggles of my life, and about the rage that has built up from my life experiences — my brother’s murder; my father abandoning my family when we were young, leaving us with no funds to pay the bills … the ups and downs of life in general. I’ve always had an anger inside that music really helps me deal with.”

Other guests involved with the effort include drummer Jeff Friedl (A Perfect Circle), Ace Frehley, Gus G. of Firewind, Nita Strauss (Alice Cooper), Christian Martucci (Stone Sour) and Satchel (Steel Panther).

Maynard James Keenan Announces “A Perfect Union Of Contrary Things” Autobiography

Last October, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Maynard James Keenan, accomplished winemaker and frontman of Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer, let on that he was working with writer/editor and longtime friend Sarah Jensen on an authorized biography.

Until now, Keenan’s fans have had access to only an abridged version of his story. That all will change with the release of “A Perfect Union of Contrary Things” (Nov. 8, 2016, Backbeat Books, $29.99).

As Keenan explained to Rolling Stone, “There’s always that perception that whatever you’ve done that’s the largest media-friendly thing in your life, where the world came to know of you, there’s a perception that there was no life before, and that you were nothing before. There’s a lot of stuff that went on in my life that nobody really knows about. So I feel like this is the chance to show the patterns, tell a story.”

Jensen, who has known Keenan for three decades, rolls out that untold story chronicling his journey from his Midwest childhood to his years in the Army to his time in art school, from his stint at a Boston pet shop to his place in the international spotlight and his influence on the disparate fields of contemporary music and regional winemaking.

“A Perfect Union of Contrary Things” presents the outtakes, the scenes of disappointment and triumph, and the events that led him to take one step after the next, to change direction, to explore sometimes surprising opportunities. The book also features a foreword by Alex Grey, an American artist and longtime friend of Keenan.

Debut Album “This Clear Divide” Announced By Stare At The Clouds, New Track Streaming

Sydney prog outfit Stare at the Clouds is about to release the debut full-length record, an atmospheric, immersive fifty minutes of ecstasy and anguish, highs and lows troughs and peaks. The album is a five year journey for the songwriters from thought to finished product and the proof is in the pudding. Stare at the Clouds are releasing “This Clear Divide” on Friday April 15th. Pre-Orders on iTunes are available now at this location, with buyers getting single “The Falling” right now as a free download. You can also stream “The Falling” in the player below.

The brainchild of Seb Key, Stare At The Clouds takes inspiration from the likes of Karnivool, A Perfect Circle, Radiohead and Between The Buried And Me – combining melodic polymetric textures, growling low-end, turning rhythms and groove to create a calculated, slow, heavy wash of sound.

A project that began as a collaboration between Seb and his wife, Cassandra Key on drums, was given new life when joined by Keelan Butterick on vocals and guitar, Evan Jackson on bass and Jacob Grindrod on guitar in 2012.

“This Clear Divide” explores a Subject’s response to a trauma. Each track represents a moment, a reaction or an emotional state at certain points throughout the Subject’s internal processing of their anguish. “Prelude” symbolizes a sense of calm before the trauma, represented by “The Falling.” The tracks grouped under “Concurrent Abreaction” explore the simultaneous emotional reactions and processes, following the Subject’s trauma. “Dead Letters” and “Cutting The Ties” represent a necessary, but miserable, bitter resolution.

Songs that had begun as bedroom recordings were crafted and shaped in live rehearsal spaces over 4 years, and were taken to Jungle Studios to be recorded and mixed with Nathan Sheehy between 2013-2015. During this time, the band have also been honing their hard-hitting, entrancing live act, supporting the likes of Dumbsaint, Solkyri, Majora, SEIMS and Glass Ocean, to name a few.

“This Clear Divide” promises to deliver a powerful first statement from the band – an album that strives to challenge its listeners whilst providing strong melodic foundation and intricately woven musical themes throughout.

Keep an eye out for a chance to catch these brand new Aussie up-and-comers. Tour dates and locations to be announced in the near future.
