Former Danzig And Murphy’s Law Guitarist Todd Youth Passes Away

Todd Youth (born Todd Schofield,) known for his time playing with hardcore bands such as Warzone and Murphy’s Law, as well as Danzig, has passed away at the age of 47. The guitarist also spent time with such bands as Agnostic Front, D-Generation and even filled in for Motorhead guitarist Phil Campbell for a short period, before forming a new band named Fireburn with former Bad Brains vocalist Ras Israel Joseph I, who posted the following message on his Facebook account:

“There are no words to express how sad I am at the passing of my brother Todd Youth. The music he made will forever be remembered, and I’m so thankful that I was able to work with him and that we created Fireburn together. Todd and I were living separate lives doing hardcore and reggae music. We met each other in 1992 and then never spoke again until 2017. We created Fireburn within two weeks of knowing each other and finished writing two of my favorite hardcore records that I ever worked on: “Don’t stop the youth”, and “Shine”. Closed casket records signed the band and we were on our way.

“We had great shows and lots of people showed up to them. We toured with GBH from England, hung out with the guys from Negative Approach, and got our blessings about our music and our records from the Bad Brains. I know that Todd is now resting in peace and I know that Krishna has taken his soul to a better place. He was a devout Hari Krishna and a devout human being.

“Todd wherever you are I hope that we will make music again one day. Life is a circle, and I know I’ll meet you again in that circle brother. We will meet again. Rest In Peace, Rest In Power, rest my brother. I am saddened that we cannot make music again together in this world, but I am happy that you are finally going home to be with Krishna that Haile Selassie has finally giving you peace and comfort my brother.

“One day, I too will lay down and die. This body that I wear is temporary. I will probably be alone. There’ll probably be no one around me. However I know that I will join you and all of our other friends in that good place, and we’ll all see each other again. I’m sorry you died Todd. I’m sorry I can’t see you again. I’m sorry I wasn’t there to help you. You are my friend and my brother and I love you. Rest in peace my brother. May your visit to our Heavenly Home be full of peace, and comfort, and closeness to Krishna. Haribo. Haile Selassie I. FIREBURN.”

Laaz Rockit And Dublin Death Patrol Bassist Willy “Lange” Langenhuizen Passes Away

Longtime Laaz Rockit and Dublin Death Patrol bassist Willy Lange has passed away at the age of 57, his bandmates have confirmed, following a motorcycle accident. The bass player joined Laaz Rockit in 1983 and performed on the albums “City’s Gonna Burn,” “Stranger To Danger,” “Know Your Enemy” and “Annihilation Principle” before the band broke up, but took part in their reunion, performing on their latest album, “Left For Dead,” which was released in 2008. Tributes have been pouring in from the metal community including his bandmates and peers.

Lääz Rockit vocalist Michael Coons posted the following via Facebook: “In shock… the important thing is to honor Willy Langenhuizen and his family at this time… I will get back to all of you when I’m able to… too difficult right now to do so, please understand.”

Willy’s Dublin Death Patrol bandmate, Testament frontman Chuck Billy, wrote: “Today I lost my best friend Willy. You were the person I could always count on and I love you for that, I will never forget the wonderful times we shared, see you on the other side, my friend.”

Bassist Greg Christian (Trauma, ex-Testament) posted: “Rest In Peace, Willy Lange! I’m still kind of in disbelief. I haven’t seen him in about 5 years but I always liked Willy. He was cool. It sucks I won’t see him again. Also, I want to say, Willy got Legacy our first real show back in ’84. The Stone with Lääz Rockit and Slayer. I’m thankful and appreciate that Willy did that for us. And never forgot. It was a good thing. Anyway .. I’m still stunned here and don’t know what to say. Except this is sad news. Truly. Rest In Peace Metal Brother / Bass Brother!!! Rest In Peace!!!”

Guitarist Phil Demmel (Machine Head, ex-Vio-Lence) took to Instagram to pay tribute, saying: “We lost a Dublin legend in shocking fashion. Willy Langenhuizen was taken from his loving family and our town is left with a huge void. One of the nicest, most caring and friendly dudes. Will was someone I looked up to and respected especially in my early years of playing as we was already in established bands, playing clubs. That helped introduce me into a scene that would become my life. Watching and meeting Slayer as the opener for Willy’s band Lääz Rockit. After Lars ripped on Lääz on Rampage Radio, Will wages war on Metallica claiming the Dublin Death Patrol doesn’t fuck around. Pretty sure Lars called for a truce and then later almost got the bass gig after Cliff died! I played in a few City Hoops leagues with him and he hated to lose, played hard and shot lights out from downtown. Same with golf, dude was a natural. All of my heart goes out to Kell and their kids and for them to know how much we ALL care and will be there to support. Goodbye, Willy. Thank you and Rest In Peace.”

Very sad news this evening. This man always treated me & the guys in my band like family, from the very first time we ever met him with his brother at a Damageplan gig in Texas– whether backstage at a show, on his crazy tour bus, at his club, at his house, he was always a gracious host to us. He just wanted people around him to be happy. I didn’t see Vinnie much the last time we played a gig together because I heard he was in a very foul mood– this was highly unusual for him. Why was he in a foul mood? Because we were playing a big festival in Chicago, he had bought a TON OF FOOD to grill in the parking lot for everyone (as usual), & the fire marshall came and shut him down before he could start the bar-b-que. That’s the type of dude he was– he just wanted to make sure people were having a good time, & he took steps to make that happen. He also did me a very solid favor when I was in some very serious legal trouble a while back by writing a detailed letter to a judge explaining what had happened to his brother & the need for good stage security– that wasn’t an easy thing for him to do, but he did it anyway because he was a true friend and knew I needed some help– I’ll never forget that, & I made sure he knew I appreciated it. He also never minded when I got in his face with my camera– I took this photo with a 50mm fixed lens at a festival we were playing with Hellyeah in Iowa in 2016– that means I was basically inside his drum kit. When he saw me poking my head in there, he just turned, flashed me this grin, & kept on rocking. I love this photo– Big Vin smiling and doing what he did best. Rest In Peace, Vinnie Paul. You’ll be missed. BIG LOVE.
