Since their return to the stages of this world in 2016 at the “Frost & Fire” festival in Ventura, CA, Cirith Ungol has also played many successful festival shows in Europe. The band now proudly unleashes their first studio recording since Paradise Lost in 1991!

The band comments: “‘Witch’s Game’ was forged for the upcoming animated movie ‘Planet of Doom’. Since we reunited in 2015, there was always a question if we would release new material. It was always on the top of our minds, and when approached to write a song that would be featured in this amazing movie, we agreed. We had already been working on songs for our 5th studio album and this was a perfect opportunity to dip our hooves back in the lake of fire! We are all very excited about the band’s future and hope you like this sampling of what we have been brewing in our secret lair!”

Bloodbath Reveals New Album, “The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn” Details

Death metal supergroup Bloodbath has revealed that they will release their fifth album, “The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn” on October 26th. Like all gore-drenched sequels, demonic death metal supergroup, Bloodbath’s fifth slice of morbid savagery comes even darker, nastier and sicker than before. It’s been four years since “Grand Morbid Funeral,” and Stockholm’s shadiest death cult – with members drawn from metal luminaries Paradise Lost, Katatonia, Opeth and Craft – return with a new slab of old-school, HM-2 driven blackness: “The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn.”

There’s an extra nasty layer on “The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn.” This time, among the usual chainsaw riffs and blasts, the darkness is also reflected in the addition of new guitarist Joakim Karlsson of Swedish black metal plague Craft. It’s a step forward that’s only given the band’s already fearsome fangs extra rabid bite.

He’s not the only extra face getting covered in gore. Track 2 “Bloodicide” – quite literally meaning ‘The Killing Of Blood’ – features a full house of British death metal guest stars, with Carcass’ Jeff Walker, Bolt Thrower/Memoriam UK singer Karl Willetts and Cancer Official Band’s John Walker all lending their larynxes to the madness.

Beware – for Satan’s Arrow Is Drawn…

Tracklisting:
1. Fleischmann
2. Bloodicide
3. Wayward Samaritan
4. Levitator

Paradise Lost To Re-Release 2001 Album, “Believe In Nothing”

Gothic metal pioneers Paradise Lost has announced that, following quickly on from the re-release of their 1999 album, “Host,” Nuclear Blast will be re-releasing the 2001 album, “Believe In Nothing.” The album will be remixed and remastered and include new artwork, which you can see below. The band has also posted a lyric video for the song, “Mouth,” which received the music video treatment in the initial promotion for the album, which can also be seen below.

Vocalist Nick Holmes stated: “It’s no secret that we were never entirely happy with the production on this record, despite really liking the songs. It’s been a long time coming, but we finally found the right moment to go back into the studio with Gomez (Orgone Studios) and play around with it. We hope you all enjoy the remixed version so you can hear how the songs were meant to sound.”

Paradise Lost To Re-Release “Host” In March

British gothic metal pioneers Paradise Lost has announced that their 1999 album, “Host” will be remastered and re-released through Nuclear Blast Records on March 16th. The album will be available as digipack and in three different vinyl colours (black, clear and mint) for the first time ever.

Speaking about the album, vocalist Nick Holmes stated: “With the ‘Host’ album we wanted to take the ‘One Second’ concept further and make a very dark album with even more subtlety. It was a bold leap from all our previous albums, a leap too far some would say, but for me, the new remastered version really shows it’s still one of the bands strongest albums in terms of song writing, atmosphere and sheer misery.”

Twilight’s Embrace Set To Release New Death Doom Opus ‘Penance’

Nottingham, UK doom trio Twilight’s Embrace reveal details for their new record, and follow up to 2014’s acclaimed debut By Darkness Undone. Entitled Penance, the self-produced EP is set for release 23rd February and spans 4 death doom soundscapes.

“After a couple of years that saw some members leaving and little in the way of live performances, we decided an EP was a good way to ease back into things and to let people know we’re still alive, comments band leader and guitarist Ben Sizer. “Musically, the new tracks deliberately continue the path of previous releases, attempting to take classic doom-death recipes and add other influences to taste.”

Tracklist:

1. Dying Earth
2. Curtain Call
3. Penance
4. It’s Too Late (Paradise Lost Cover)

New MCD/Single “Imperilled” Released By The Maledict

Hailing from Australia, the death/doom collective The Maledict has released the brand new three-song single/MCD “Imperilled” last week, on October 5th. This new single features one new song, one reworked track from the band’s 2013 demo, and one cover. Check out “Imperilled” in the player below.

The title track heads up the package, bringing 8 minutes of doom. The new material is as laden with melancholy as ever, but now hints at things to come – with a heavy injection of atmosphere and melody to accentuate against the filthy canvas of death/doom metal.

“Waltz Eternal,” the leading cut from the band’s 2013 demo “Salvation in Yielding” has been reworked from the ground-up, bringing one of the band’s favorite live tracks into the present with far superior production.

And finally, the release culminates with a tribute to one of the biggest musical inspirations behind The Maledict’s sound as they cover the title track from Paradise Lost’s seminal 1991 classic “Gothic”, arguably the song that invented death/doom as we know it.

“Imperilled” is available for free on Bandcamp, as well as being released on most streaming digital music services. Check out the MCD in full here:
