The Workhorse III Releasing New Album “Closer To Relevance”

Philadelphia power trio The Workhorse III will self-release third album “Closer to Relevance” on December 9th, 2016. The following press release was issued about the impending album:

“Too rock for metal and too metal for rock? More like loud, proud, and hot as Hell! Though The Workhorse III consider themselves a hard rock band, the riff-driven diversity of the music makes them so much more!

“The one certainty is that vocalist/guitarist Lisa Lyne Flynn (aka Lisa Christ Superstar), bassist/vocalist Steve McCarthy, and drummer Eric Perfect (also a world renowned tattoo artist of 26 years) worship at the altar of the mighty riff!

“The members have played in various well-known Philly bands such as Savage 3D, Limecell, and the Pagan Babies and certainly have a punk rock / metal pedigree, but when you put these three veteran musicians together you get a diverse pool of music in which to swim.”

1. War Torn City
2. Soul Crusher
3. Wasted
4. Holy Roller
5. Nothin’ From Me
6. What’s The Point
7. Want You
8. Find My Mind
9. Life of Crime
10. When I’m Gone
11. Closer to Relevance
12. I Can’t Forget

Soulburn Releasing New Album “Earthless Pagan Spirit”

Dutch blackened death / doom group Soulburn just announced the completion of a new, third studio album release, entitled “Earthless Pagan Spirit,” and set to drop on November 18th, 2016 via Century Media Records.

Following 2014’s “The Suffocating Darkness effort,” this new album was recorded in The Netherlands at Harrow Studio as well as Double Noise Studio and then mixed and mastered by Magnus “Devo” Andersson at Endarker Studio Sweden (Marduk, Ofermod, etc.).

Vocalist & bassist and Twan van Geel checked in to say: “Soulburn’s ‘Earthless Pagan Spirit’ marks the band’s third full-length album since the 1996 debut album ‘Feeding On Angels.’ As people often say about a band’s third album is that it should show the bands ‘true’ face. Well, ‘Earthless Pagan Spirit’ melts the rough elements of the past in perfect balance with the corrosive taste of the new. Showing a band who have set out a delicate blend of old school breathing black metal that strengthens its venom with a poisonous twist of doom and death metal.

“Where its predecessor ‘The Suffocating Darkness’ already wandered, ‘Earthless Pagan Spirit’ sets its sails further down the blackest of seas. Lyrically ‘ Earthless Pagan Spirit’ is breathing a Nietzschean storm upon this narrow minded religious plague this world is infested by. A serpent’s tongue spreading fear to some, yet a glorified temptation to others. Those who read between the lines may illuminate in its satanic glare and find new meaning in them.”

In connection with the album’s release, Soulburn has already announced a few selected live-shows for the coming months. Here is a list of the band’s upcoming dates:

09.04.2016 Essen (Germany) – Turock Open Air
10.08.2016 Veghel (The Netherlands) – Veghel Deathfest
11.19.2016 Koblenz (Germany) – Florinsmarkt
12.16.2016 Eindhoven (The Netherlands) – Eindhoven Metal Meeting
03.11.2017 Beek en Donk (The Netherlands) – Fortress Fest

“Black Metal: Into The Abyss” Book Release Announced

“Black Metal: Into The Abyss” from writer and photographer Dayal Patterson will be released on May 31st and is now available for pre-order here.

The new book includes 300 pages and 21 chapters of brand new and exclusive material, with long, detailed and definitive interviews featuring four Pagan Records acts: Sacrilegium, Furia, MasseMord and Mord’A’Stigmata.

The newest full-length book in the Black Metal Cult series follows “Black Metal: Evolution of the Cult” and “Black Metal: The Cult Never Dies Vol. One.” Author Dayal Patterson comments about exploring Polish black metal:

“Along with the bands coming out of territories such as Greece, Norway and Sweden, Polish black metal was something that we kept an eye on as fans since the 90s. It has been a pleasure to be able to explore the scene in more detail in this book series and conduct in-depth interviews with such diverse groups as Xantotol, Arkona, Behemoth, Mastiphal, Evilfeast, MGLA/Kriegsmaschine, Graveland – and in the new book ‘Black Metal: Into The Abyss’ – Furia, Massemord, Black Altar, Besatt, Mord’A’Stigmata, Sacrliegium, and Blaze OF Perdition.”

Static of Mord’A’Stigmata adds: “I did hundreds of interviews since I started this journey called Mord’A’Stigmata in 2004. If someone asks me which of those conversations touched the real soul of the band, I definitely should point to my talk with Dayal. The work he did preparing his last book, could not be overrated. It was a challenge to answer all these profound questions, but results are amazing.”

S. of Blaze of Perdition comments: “The simple, yet not that easy, trick of journalism is to ask the right people the right questions and Dayal does just that.”
