The post reads as follows:

“What an intense writing session we’ve had for Sons Of Apollo 2 over the last week!! It was a whirlwind of creativity and we managed to pull it all together and knock it out of the park (IMHO)…and wasting no time, I’m flying to LA today to begin recording my drum tracks!
We will then spend the rest of the year crafting the album and are shooting to have it out at the end of the year or beginning of 2020…”But worry not, there’s the Live Plovdiv Release coming early this summer to tide you over until then!”

Oceans Of Slumber Announces The Depature Of Guitarists

Houston, Texas based progressive metal outfit Oceans Of Slumber has announced that both guitarists Sean Gary and Anthony Contrereas have left the band. A statement on Facebook reads as follows:

“As many of you have seen, we’ve been having a rough patch over the last few years. Especially October. After Anthony decided to leave us (which was something we somewhat expected sadly), Sean informed us that he too would be exiting. He needed to concentrate on his personal life and career and that meant no more touring and band commitments. We’ve known for a bit about this and have auditioned a handful of people. We’ve got one of two covered now… Now the hunt begins for the next.

“Severing ties in a relationship is never easy. Losing two of the founding members of this band after 7 years of close proximity sucks too. Anthony and I have been in multiple bands together and have traveled all over the world together in them. Sean has been my right hand man from the get go. It’s taken a lot of work to get where we are. But things change. They always do. We will miss them immensely, but this house isn’t finished being built and we’re left with the task of completing it. Though there is an amount of hurt and sadness on our end, we will power through all of this and come out just fine. We must stay vigilant not to be dragged down with the daunting task of moving forward. With all of that said; goodbye to the two of you and we hope all of the things you want and need happen for you.”

Exciter Guitarist John Ricci Leaves The Band

Canadian speed metal stalwarts Exciter, whose original lineup reunited in 2015, has announced that guitarist John Ricci has left the band for the second time. A statement from bassist Allan James Johnson reads as follows:

“Some rather heavy news in the Exciter camp. Due to certain professional and personal differences, John Ricci has decided to leave the band. I wish to inform the fans worldwide that Dan Beehler and I are going to forge on with our song writing and recording however live shows will be postponed until such a time that we can find a suitable guitarist. As I am the sole administrator of the Exciter Original Facebook page I will continue to post from time to time to keep up the legacy of what we have accomplished over the last four and a half years but I will no doubt create a whole new Facebook page for the next incarnation of Exciter. In the meantime, all the best of luck and health to John.”

05/18 Berlin, GER – Pelagic Festival (no Cloakroom)

The run marks a return for Caspian after a hiatus, they commented of that:

“Thank you for hanging tight over the last year as we took some time away from the machine to recalibrate our bearings and step outside the bubble for a minute. Plowing through this for as many years as we have non-stop (and it’s been exactly that) will do all kinds of things to a band, as I’m sure you can well imagine.

We decided it would be a good idea to wade back into the water and slowly get things back online by heading to Europe this May for a string of headline shows and some festival appearances. We’ve missed playing shows a lot and we want to get back up there. Joining us will be the truly amazing Cloakroom and we are thrilled they’ve decided to come along. Hit the events section for tickets and information.

We don’t have an official announcement regarding a new album incoming, have just slowly began writing it, and may or may not debut new material on this tour. We’ll see how the next few months treat us up here in the cold white North, but what we do play will be inspired by a lot of what has happened in the last year and we plan on bringing the heat the best we can per usual, maybe even a little extra fire. There aren’t any current plans to do any shows beyond this at the moment, but you know those will happen when the time feels right and we’ll be sure to let you know. The story is not over and there are chapters not yet written.

On a side note, the positive feedback we’ve received from you guys over the last year, even during a period of near total dormancy, has really helped keep the ship afloat. It seems the last few records are still communicating to people with repeat encounters and that’s enough to keep us charting a course forward. Thanks and see you this May.

All the best,
CASPIAN“

Song Premiere: Nordheim – “I Wish You Were Beer” From Forthcoming Album “Rapthor”

We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Quebec based folk metal band Nordheim’s new song “I Wish You Were Beer” streaming below. The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming album Rapthor, which is scheduled to be released on November 24th.

The band commented: “You know the feeling you get when you are impaling a busty T-Rex with your giant throbbing errecsword while lightning strikes you and transforms your hand into a fucking laser-cobra? Well this song isn’t close to that but it’s still pretty good.”

“We want to give the fans one of the heaviest and nastiest folk metal albums to date with ‘RapThor’. It is different from our first two. We had great feedback when we played the songs live. This album is the heaviest of them all while cutting back on the European folklore influences. It’s the result of our hard work over the last few years. It is super-heavy party music!” says Warraxe.

New Members Announced By Crobot

Pennsylvania-based rockers Crobot has just announced an all new rhythm section. New to the line-up is drummer Dan Ryan and bassist James Alexander Lascu. James also plays bass in Detroit-based quintet Wilson and will continue to do so for both bands. Dan is an official Ddrum USA artist.

On the announcement, the band comments: “All is definitely well in the Crobot home nebula as we welcome the insanely talented and hard hitting Dan Ryan on drums and the power and monstrous bass playing of James ‘Uncle Jimmy Muscles’ Lascu to hold down the heavy bottom. We are 50 songs into the writing process and we are excited about how productive we have been over the last few months. To say these guys are making us a better band would be an incredible understatement. Stay tuned for new riffin’ & groovin’ as we are planning for a 2018 release! Keep your beards tuned to that same ol’ Crobot transmission!”

Crobot has begun writing new material for their anticipated third album which will be out in 2018.

Misery Signals Releasing “Yesterday Was Everything” Documentary

Over the last decade, influential hardcore band Misery Signals has undergone overwhelming changes involving the departure of the group’s founding singer and infighting that nearly left the band in complete shambles.

In a new documentary, directed by Matthew Mixon and titled “Yesterday Was Everything,” the band members takes viewers on an intimate journey of reconciliation as they find healing in the present by confronting the demons of the past. The documentary will be available on June 30th at iTunes, Google Play and Amazon.

Misery Signals will be hosting an in-theater screening of the documentary in Edmonton, AB on June 20th (7:00pm at Metro Cinema at the Garneau, 8712 109th Street, Edmonton AB) with partial proceeds being donated to Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Filmed during a 2014 tour in celebration of the 10th anniversary of coveted album, “Of Malice and the Magnum Heart,” this documentary follows the band reuniting with its former vocalist for the first time since his unceremonious ousting a decade prior. The film explores the fatal tragedy that brought the band together and follows a journey from Vancouver to Toronto facing old ghosts and attempting to reconcile the past.

Stuart Ross (guitar) comments: “‘Yesterday Was Everything’ provides a glimpse into a very tumultuous period in our development as young men, friends and musicians. Without the ups and downs of those formative years it’s hard to say where we’d all be today. I believe this film offers fans of the band intimate information to questions that have otherwise gone unanswered. It allows insight into the story of Compromise; a tragedy that forever changed the trajectory of our lives.”

Bassist Kyle Johnson adds: “Matthew Mixon does a fantastic job of portraying the intensity that lies within the story. The good alongside the bad, the uncomfortable moments, the love shared between the five of us that extends to all the friends and fans we have made over the last decade, and the ability to come out of it still being able to call each other friends. I can’t wait for the world to experience it.”
