Devin Townsend Debuts Orchestral Live Performance Of “Regulator” From Upcoming New Blu-ray

Devin Townsend has debuted a live video of “Regulator” being performed in Bulgaria with the aid of the Orchestra of Plovdiv State Opera. The footage comes from his upcoming live set, “Ocean Machine – Live At The Ancient Roman Theatre Plovdiv“ which will be released on July 06th. That release primarily captures a special 20th anniversary performance of “Ocean Machine: Biomech” that took place on September 22nd, 2017 at the Ancient Roman Theatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Comments Devin Townsend:

“Hello again folks, dev here again…head above water for a minute from the massive writing period I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to do. Today, i’m proud that we can release another track from the upcoming ‘Live at the Ancient Theatre’ Performance. This one comes in the form of ‘Regulator’ from the Ocean Machine portion of the set.

This DVD is a really important part of my work to date, as it not only summarizes a large portion of my musical output, but also swings right back around to the first true solo album, Ocean Machine, with the original bassist, John Harder, joining me onstage.

When all is said and done, this DVD acts as a powerful swan song for this portion of my career, and I am excited for people to actually get the whole thing into their worlds.

As always, thank you for the ability to do what I do, and I hope you enjoy it 🙂

That release primarily captures a special 20th anniversary performance of “Ocean Machine: Biomech” that took place on September 22nd, 2017 at the Ancient Roman Theatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Comments Townsend:

“Hey there, Devin T here, taking a second to bring myself up for air from writing : )
After a long and arduous process, the concert myself and the DTP performed in Plovdiv Bulgaria is finished, and here is your first view of it, ‘Truth’.

I am very proud of this release and it represents a culmination of many years of material. The concert actually is in two parts, with Ocean Machine being the second. It was a fantastic night and an unforgettable experience with the die-hards travelling from all around the world to be there with us.

As I move into the next phase of my life and career, this live in Bulgaria DVD stands as a monument for me, and what we achieved with the DTP.

As always, words fail me when it comes to expressing what the support of the audience means, but I thank you and everyone involved for allowing this to happen.

I hope you enjoy : )

Devin Townsend Plans July Release Date For Live Orchestral Performance Of “Ocean Machine”

Devin Townsend Project‘s special September 22nd, 2017 live performance of their album “Ocean Machine: Biomech” will hit stores on July 06th. The 20th anniversary performance of that release
took place at the Ancient Roman Theatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria and saw him joined by the Orchestra of Plovdiv State Opera. In addition to playing the effort, a number of fan-requested tracks from Townsend‘s catalog were also performed.

The set is titled “Ocean Machine – Live At The Ancient Roman Theatre Plovdiv” and will be released on a variety of formats, including a limited deluxe 3CD/2DVD/Blu-Ray artbook (with liner notes from Devin and a special documentary dubbed ‘Reflecting The Chaos‘ on the second DVD & Blu-Ray), a special edition 3CD/DVD digipak, a standalone Blu-ray and as a digital audio download.

Comments Townsend of said show:

“Plovdiv and this live package represents a lot to me, it signifies the end of one era, and the celebration of another. Amidst a gruelling touring year, this show came together with much blood, sweat, and tears, and the result is the culmination of many aspects of my work on one stage. ‘Ocean Machine‘ was released 20 years ago, and though Marty (drums) is no longer with us, I was able to finally perform the album in its entirety with the original bassist John ‘Squid’ Harder on this night. On a cold evening in an old city in the ancient theatre, many lifelong milestones came to a conclusion on this night and I’m exceptionally proud of it.

I am currently writing, writing, and writing some more for the next stage of my life and work, and the team of individuals who contributed to this project, from the musicians in the band and orchestra, to the crews locally and with this, management, artists, filmographers and most importantly, the audience… made this night a powerful and strangely bittersweet moment I am proud to have documented with this work.

This is a very special live recording of a very special night, and I hope you enjoy it as a monument to the things that inspired it all in the first place.

Love and light,

Devin Townsend“

New Album “Pacifisticuffs” Announced By Diablo Swing Orchestra

Swedish avant-metal act Diablo Swing Orchestra has confirmed details of the upcoming new album titled “Pacifisticuffs.” The 13-track album will be released on December 8th via Candlelight/Spinefarm.

The eight-headed beast behind “Pacifisticuffs” is notoriously hard to pigeonhole; although comfortable nestled in the rock and metal worlds, they incorporate elements of jazz, prog and even classical music. With tongues firmly in cheek, they take a sideways look at the world we live in and sprinkle their musical output with a healthy dose of theatrical sparkle.

Since the release of the last album “Pandora’s Piñata” in 2012, lead vocalist Annlouice Lögdlund departed the band and has been replaced by Kristin Evegård. Evegård has wasted no time integrating into the band, and along with an all-round more democratic process, has added her lyrical and composition skills into the mix for “Pacifisticuffs.”

The core style and approach of the band remains recognizable, but the band has turned its sights outwards rather than inwards. Less introspective than previous releases, “Pacifisticuffs” offers an expression of life’s highs and lows and everything in between, all delivered with that recognizable Diablo Swing Orchestra touch of Technicolor.

The track list and cover art are as follows:

1. Knucklehugs (Arm Yourself With Love)
2. The Age of Vulture Culture
3. Superhero Jagganath
4.Vision of the Purblind
5. Lady Clandestine Chainbreaker
6. Jigsaw Hustle
7. Pulse of the Incipient
8. Ode to the Innocent
9. Interruption
10. Cul-De-Sac Semantics
11. Karma Bonfire
12. Climbing the Eyeball
13. Porch of Perception

Giacomo Paradiso Named New Guitarist For Fallen Arise

Athens based symphonic metal act Fallen Arise has announced the band’s new guitarist, Giacomo Paradiso (Essential Genre Obsession)!

Stated the band: “We are so excited to present our new guitarist! Giacomo Paradiso from beautiful Siena, Italy. Belongs now to Fallen Arise family! Welcome to the band Giacomo!”

Fallen Arise was formed in 2009 and released the second full length album “Adeline” in October 2015 via Rock Of Angels Records (aka ROAR), which combined a theatrical atmosphere with a progressive approach and a heavy-metal-alike heaviness. The album takes us back in time of the Victorian era of the 19th century (1837-1901), presenting us the decay of the human body and mind through fiction. The album was realized in the collaboration with an ensemble of 40 renowned musicians from the National Opera, the Athens State Orchestra, the NERIT Orchestra and the Piraeus Concert Band.

The Walking Dead Orchestra Releasing New Album “Resurrect”

French death metal legion The Walking Dead Orchestra will release second full-length album, “Resurrect,” on October 13th via Unique Leader Records. Issues the band of the self-produced offering:

“We conditioned ourselves to unleash our primal influences, it’s a back-to-the-roots process with old-school riffs tuned to the more modern sound. We are proud of this combination. Each song has its own identity. We recorded, mixed, and mastered the entire album by ourselves at our own studio, Spike Recording Studio, which allowed us to keep every step of the production process under control. This gave us the time and freedom to really develop our sound.

“This album imposes an ambiance with many twists and surprises and the songs structures are more mature. This is a new chapter for the band but also for the Architect, the main character of The Walking Dead Orchestra’s concept which takes place through a post-apocalyptic world. The artwork reflects The Walking Dead Orchestra’s universe and illustrates each situation our main character goes through.”

Pre-orders for “Resurrect” will be available in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out “Dogmes Anxiogenes” below.
