Werewolf Press Launching “Realm Of The Damned” Graphic Novel

Candlelight label owner and October File bass player, Steve Beatty, is set to launch his new graphic novel publishing company Werewolf Press with the release of “Realm Of The Damned,” a series written and illustrated by Alec Worley and Pye Parr.

“Realm Of The Damned” is set in a dystopian world run by vampires and, to make things worse, the most brutal vampire ever is brought back to life. There’s no one left to protect us from what lurks in the dark. There’s no Hellboy, no Mulder and Scully, no Torchwood or Men in Black coming to save us. The monsters have won. Our world now belongs to them…

The Vatican’s last line of paranormal defense – The Congregation – has finally been overrun by the supernatural forces of darkness. Our heroes are all dead, and only the damned remain. Among them is Alberic Van Helsing – addict, murderer, survivor – and the creatures that were once his prey now hunt him across America. But when an apocalyptic evil is resurrected in the forests of Norway, it falls to Van Helsing to become the hunter once again if mankind and monster alike are to see the dawn.

Van Helsing’s quest for salvation and survival takes him through the ruins of a neo-gothic Europe, where he must face the vampire queen of the Vatican, a man-made monster with the heart of a storm, the lycanthropic lord of the forest, the mummified ruler of the slums of Cairo, and the crazed vampire demi-god who threatens to devour them all.

This is “Realm of the Damned: Tenebris Deos,” a graphic novel of pure black metal horror that unleashes classic gothic monsters on a modern rampage of redemption and damnation. The first installment will arrive on Friday the 13th of May, 2016. Be afraid, be very afraid…

Orange Goblin And Winterfylleth To Play Damnation Festival

English stoner rock band Orange Goblin is the latest name to be added to the 10th anniversary Damnation Festival bill.

Orange Gobline will be joined by black metal quartet Winterfylleth and post-punk outfit October File, with both bands airing material from new albums at Leeds University Union on Saturday, November 1st.

The trio of new additions bolster an impressively eclectic line-up which already boasts Bolt Thrower’s only U.K. appearance, a Cannibal Corpse headline set and St. Vitus performing “Born Too Late” in full.

Orange Goblin said: “Over the last few years, Damnation has cemented itself into one of the UK’s leading metal festivals, so it is a great honour to be asked back to play for a second time.
“It is already a great line up of bands, and we can’t wait to be part of it.”

Winterfylleth added: “We are proud to announce we will be playing Damnation Festival once again in 2014. The response we had in 2012 was mind blowing and we hope to see you all there once again. Damnation is a festival we always attend as fans regardless of playing and a must for all serious metal fans. We have a new album out a few weeks before the festival, so will be playing some exclusive new material for the first time on the day.”

October File also comments: “We are over the moon to be playing what is becoming one of the most important and special events in the UK. Damnation has worked hard to forge a name that is a must for fans and underground talent.”

The line-up for Damnation Festival so far includes: Bolt Thrower, Cannibal Corpse, Saint Vitus, Raging Speedhorn, Orange Goblin, Anaal Nathrakh, Ahab, Revocation, Solstafir, Winterfylleth, H A R K, October File, Bast, Atlantis and Corrupt Moral Altar, with many more bands to be announced across four stages.

October File Writing Concept Record, Announces Live Album

October File has announced plans to retreat to write a concept album and release a live record. The band commented:

“After a busy summer of shows with Fear Factory and Prong, and some smashing festivals – Hellfest being the highlight – we are now going to bury ourselves in our fourth studio album.

“The album is entitled ‘The Application of Loneliness, Ignorance, Misery, Love and Despair – An Introspective of the Human Condition.’ It will be a concept album based on the contents of the aforementioned title. Taking a look at the human state, what we see and what we feel in certain situations, and how we look at things totally uniquely. We hope that the album will see the light of day in March 2013 on the Candlelight label. More information as we see fit to release it.

“In the meantime we will release a live album/DVD with the performance taken from last year’s Bloodstock Festival. It will come as a limited edition of 1000 only CD/DVD sets and will be entitled ‘Renditions in Juxtaposition – Live At Bloodstock.’ Vinyl rights are being negotiated with a label, more on that when we have the information. The CD/DVD will be released via the Candlelight label on 22nd October 2012.

“Some one-off shows, etc. will happen, details when we have them… stay safe, it’s a dangerous world.”
