Ondt Blod Premiere New Song “Start Han Opp” From Upcoming New Album “Natur”

Norwegian melodic hardcore band ONDT BLOD debut “Start Han Opp”, a new song from their upcoming album Natur.

The band commented: “Grandiose bragging, and a middle finger to tastemakers and their followers. Humbly stating that I´m the “dárrolaš Áilohaš/ the Norwegian Áilohaš”, the greatest in Sápmi, and ”young and hungry til I die”. Heavy riffage, and a hedonistic chorus filled with power and joy. A double gasoline-and-tonic coming up.”

Dimmu Borgir Reveals New Album Title And Release Date

Over seven years, deathlike silence has filled the halls of the world‘s biggest black metal forge, Dimmu Borgir, whilst powers have been gathering to resurrect the band right in time for their 25th anniversary. Now they finally mark their return with a vicious work of art that can be defined as timeless in the truest sense of the word: Eonian.

The song writing core of Dimmu Borgir furthermore consists of charismatic vocalist Shagrath, as well as the string wizards Silenoz and Galder, but other familiar faces also emerge from the darkness; drummer Daray and keyboarder Gerlioz are still part of the team, and Gaute Storaas helped with the choral arrangements for the majestic voices of the Schola Cantrum Choir.

The cover artwork was designed in fascinating detail by Zbigniew M. Bielak (Ghost, Behemoth, Mayhem).

This tenth full-length record will see the light of spring on 4th May and it will contain 10 new tracks, produced by the band itself and engineered by Jens Bogren. Emerging from the dark minds of the three songwriters, Eonian follows a philosophical concept, dealing with the illusion of time:

“Time, when not approaching it from the construct we’re used to can’t be defined and thus it is illusory”, explains axemaster Silenoz. “There’s only an ‘eternal now’, which the album title is already hinting at. When we travel between the worlds seen and unseen, the perception of time ceases to exist, it has no function. Our energy is our torch and our compass when we make rifts and pierce through the veil – when we go beyond.”

Vocalist Shagrath adds: “Eonian represents the illusion of time, everything that is and always has been. For us, it also marks the 25th anniversary of Dimmu Borgir and the album itself is a tribute to our own history and the Norwegian black metal history.”

On February 23rd, Dimmu Borgir will unveil their first single ‘Interdimensional Summit’ which will be released as a 7” vinyl EP, providing a first taste of the upcoming album.

The EP contains the new track ‘Interdimensional Summit’ as well as ‘Puritania (Live In Oslo)’ and will be available in red & clear, and gold vinyl colors.

Adam “Nergal” Darski (Behemoth) On Decapitated: “I Know These Guys And I Know They Couldn’t/Wouldn’t Hurt A Fly”

This past September Behemoth frontman Adam “Nergal” Darski urged fans not to jump to conclusions regarding the arrest of fellow Polish death metal band Decapitated. All four members of the group had been arrested and were facing a potential trial on charges of rape and kidnapping. Last week however, all charges were dropped against the band, with the courting concern for the well-being of the alleged victim. Nergal has since spoken publicly on the case again via his Instagram, offering the following:

“4 months ago, Decapitated were accused of kidnap and gang rape – subsequently they were put in a County prison and later into a local jail…and the shit hit the fan! I recall the similar case of my friends from Satyricon/Keep of Kalessin who spent 2 months in a Canadian prison because someone accused them of rape.

It took 2 months of legal bureaucracy and the help of the Norwegian government to get them out. The accuser finally recanted the allegations, claiming it was a mistake. They never received compensation for financial losses or emotional trauma, just a brief apology and a document to prove their innocence (which they must always carry around with them).

Somehow, from the very beginning my intuition told me my friends from Decapitated would be just fine. Now, I’m not claiming to be a prophet but I’m an optimist and a good judge of character, I know these guys and I know they couldn’t/wouldn’t hurt a fly. They are now released and have had charges dropped (without prejudice).

It’s obviously a big relief to their families and friends, including myself. So…what’s next for their career after such severe defamation? What about their good name? What about their families? I hope they get their justice and strike back soon!!! And Justice For All? Well…not quite. But getting innocent people back home…HELL YES!

Last thing, friends – stay rational and reasonable and think carefully before you speak… and caste a stone at innocent people.
Welcome home brothers.”

MAYHEM To Kick Off European Tour This Friday

“…Mysteriis… remains a singularly potent document, its expressions of alienation and nihilism lent an icy severity by Aarseth’s lacerating guitar buzz, session vocalist Attila Csihar’s arcane croak and presentation of Dead’s lyrical gothic terror and the pummeling drums of Hellhammer.” — Rolling Stone Norwegian black metal icons MAYHEM will begin the second leg of their […]

Enslaved Finishes Work On New Album

It is accomplished – the Norwegian progressive extreme metal crew Enslaved just completed the recording process on a 14th full-length album.

In the renowned Fascination Street Studios, Jens Bogren polished this new raw diamond with his mixing and mastering skills. Just like for predecessor “In Times” (reviewed here) the metal veterans from Bergen still never look back and keep on expanding their horizons.

“I’m always psyched and proud when we finish an album recording, and this is no exception!” states singer Grutle Kjellson. “It was a really exciting process this time, with the line-up change and everything, so although it wasn’t a dramatic change, the band dynamics were suddenly different. But, it was like a little re-boot, a fresh start so to speak. The studio sessions were great, and we all feel that we have done something truly amazing. We hope you’ll enjoy it. Ugh!”

Stay tuned for full info to arrive later in the summer. Enslaved will also be touring the UK and Ireland as support to Opeth in November:

Nov 15th – Manchester, O2 Ritz
Nov 16th – Glasgow, Barrowlands
Nov 17th – Belfast, Limelight
Nov 18th – Dublin, Academy
Nov 19th – Nottingham, Rock City
Nov 21st – Bristol, O2 Academy
Nov 22nd – Birmingham, O2 Institute

Agonia Records Inks Deal WIth Superia For New Album “The Lyricist”

Norway’s melodic extreme metal act, Susperia, comprising former members of Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon, have inked a record deal with Agonia Records, with plans to release the long-awaited new album, “The Lyricist.” By the same token, the band will close the eight-year gap that separates the last opus, “Attitude” (2009).

“The Lyricist” will be the first studio album to showcase new vocalist, Bernt Fjellestad (a.k.a. Dagon, central figure in the picture) (Guardians of Time), who’s official stage debut with the band was made at last year’s 70000 Tons Of Metal Festival at sea.

The band commented on the signing and upcoming material: “Susperia is proud to announce the signing with Agonia Records for our upcoming album ‘The Lyricist.’ It’s going to be a harder and more grim album, going back to Susperia’s black roots!.”

Susperia may have it’s roots in the Norwegian black metal scene, but it is merely a starting point for a band that describes the music as “extreme metal with melodic twists.” A simple philosophy of “no boundaries” demonstrates that the band has no hesitation in embracing and exploring a variety of musical avenues with ease.

The origins of the Oslo based group can be traced back to 1998 when Tjodalv, then occupying the drum seat with Dimmu Borgir, and long-time friend Cyrus (ex-Satyricon, Old Man’s Child) got together to share ideas and write songs. A chance meeting between vocalist Athera and Tjodalv at 1999’s Wacken Festival in Germany would lead to the completion of the Susperia line-up, as Athera brought in also two other members – bass guitarist Memnock and guitarist Elvorn.

The band’s line-up can easily be described as a long-lasting one, with all original members in place since its inception, and the exception of Dagon filling in Athera’s boots, after the latter’s departure in 2015. But even Dagon isn’t new to Susperia. He performed with it on several occasions as a live mussician, at times Athera had other engagements. Primarily a heavy metal signer, Dagon has mastered also other vocal techincs, performing with the band. Nowadays, there’s new found confidence and determination running through the Susperia camp.

With five studo albums under the belt and an etiquette of a powerful live act, Susperia has consistently remained focused on the live area. The band’s numerous high profile shows include supports to W.A.S.P., In Flames, Destruction and Dimmu Borgir, as well as headline and festival appearances. One of the group’s most cherished experiences thus far, remains the invitation to be the main support to the newly reformed Testament, in late 2005.

More news on “The Lyricist” will follow soon.
