Behemoth Reveals New Album, “I Loved You At Your Darkest” Details

“It doesn’t get more blasphemous than this,” declares Behemoth mastermind Nergal, about the band’s upcoming album, “I Loved You At Your Darkest” – due out October 5th via Metal Blade Records (North America) / Nuclear Blast (Europe). While it certainly seems an unlikely title for a black metal band, its origin might surprise fans even more than the words themselves.

“It’s a verse from the Bible,” Nergal reveals. “It’s actually a quote from Jesus Christ himself. For Behemoth to use it as the basis of our record, it’s sacrilege to the extreme.”

A crushing salvo of black metal majesty replete with hellish riffs, thundering drum cannonades and soaring liturgical choirs reminiscent of classic horror cinema, I Loved You At Your Darkest is the group’s most dynamic record yet: extreme and radical on one hand, but also more rock-oriented than any other Behemoth release.

Produced by the band themselves, with drum co-production by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames), mixing by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Children Of Bodom) mastering by Tom Baker (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson), and a 17-piece Polish orchestra arranged by Jan Stoklosa.

The following formats are available in North America, along with an exclusive t-shirt:

– jewelcase CD
– digibook CD (hardcover digibook, 40 page booklet)
– baltic amber vinyl (limited to 600 copies)
– opaque white w/ gold splatter vinyl (Metal Blade Records exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
– black / gold split vinyl (Metal Blade Records exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
– clear w/ smoky black swirl (Nuclear Blast US exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
– clear w/ grey inside (Kings Road exclusive – limited to 500 copies)
– “God = Dog” 7″ picture disc (Metal Blade Records exclusive – limited to 666 copies)

Avenged Sevenfold Cancels North American Tour Dates With Prophets Of Rage

Avenged Sevenfold has announced that they have been forced to cancel their planned tour North America with supergroup Prophets Of Rage as a result of vocalist M Shadows suffering from a vocal chord injury. This includes their planned headlining spot at the Heavy MTL festival, where their place will be taken by Limp Bizkit. A statement from M Shadows reads as follows:

“There is no good way to start out a note containing bad news but here it is.

“After Europe I came down with a terrible viral infection that rendered me voiceless.

“I tried my best to take care of the situation with voice rest, medication and doctor visits but the voice was only getting worse.

“After a week of steroids, the swelling went down enough to see the cause of the problem. A blood blister has formed on my vocal folds and is preventing them from vibrating properly. In short, I can’t sing anything at the moment and the more I attempt to, the more damage is being done. Luckily, as of now the doctors feel that 3 months of no singing and voice rest should get my chords back on track.

“Unfortunately, this means we will have to cancel all tour dates at the moment.

“Decisions like this weigh on me very heavily. It’s a tour I was looking forward to very much. I want to apologize to the fans who have spent their time and money booking travel arrangements and accommodations. I also want to apologize to our crew and the other bands who were depending on this tour.

“None of these things are lost on me.

“Just know that I have exhausted every possible solution in trying to get out there and perform for you. It just simply can’t happen at the moment.

“We have a few things coming down the pipe soon that should be fun, so we hope you look out for those.

“Again, I am deeply sorry and hope to see you all soon.

“In silence,

“M”

Decibel announces first wave of bands and breweries for Metal & Beer Fest LA, presented by Metal Blade Records

– June 25th, 2018 –

Join a gathering of craft brewings most morbid ales on Saturday and Sunday, December 1 and 2, 2018, as North America’s only monthly metal magazine brings the heaviest and hoppiest craft beer festival in the world to the historic Wiltern Theatre for the first-ever Decibel Metal & Beer Fest: Los Angeles.

Headliners include thrash legends Testament, who will play a special set of both their classic The New Order and The Gathering records in full, along with the Tom Gabriel Fischer-led Triptykon performing a special all-Celtic Frost set. Grind heroes Pig Destroyer, revered doom trio YOB, new thrash gods Power Trip, death metal upstarts Skeletal Remains, Bay Area bruisers Necrot and heavy metal new jacks Haunt round out the first wave of bands on the bill with the next round of high-profile acts to be announced mid-July.

“I’m sure we’ll see fans travel from all corners of the planet to witness this heavily overdue set!” exclaims Testament guitarist Eric Peterson. “Get your tickets quick! You won’t wanna miss this event. A gathering of the new order is upon us!”

Not to be outdone, the country’s most metal breweries will converge in a maelstrom of malt madness! Flagship breweries Three Floyds (IN), TRVE (CO), Weyerbacher (PA), Brash (TX), Adroit Theory (VA), Burial (NC), Hoof Hearted (OH), Societe (CA), Left Hand Brewing (CO), Phantom Carriage (CA), Hydra Brewing (SD), Mikkeller (CA) and Wayfinder (OR) will return while Wake (IL) and Black Sands (CA) will make their first Decibel Metal & Beer Fest pours. And just like when the musicians in the night’s best bands hang out before and after their sets, the metalheads that make these skull-crushing high-gravity beers will be headbanging along during the festivities, ready to toast exclusive samples and, of course, talk metal and beer.

“We are super excited to be working with our friends from Decibel on this year’s Metal & Beer Fest,” says Brian Slagel, CEO of Metal Blade Records, the festival’s presenting sponsor. “It will be a great time and we are honored to again be working with everyone at Decibel magazine.”

Special discounted early-bird weekend “Metal & Beer” tickets, entitling attendees to pours from each of the attending breweries all weekend long, go on sale Friday, June 29 at 9AM PST.

Until then, Los Angeles, prepare for the brew order!
