Abbath Walks Off Stage 30 Minutes Into Inferno Fest Set

Apparently there was an issue at the Inferno Fest this weekend with front man Abbath walking off the stage a few songs into the band’s set. The organizers of the festival issued this comment:

“We are very sorry that Abbath left the stage after 30 minutes into their show. Of course this has nothing to do with the festival and an official statement will come from the band. We hope you all had a great festival even that the night was cut a bit shorter than expected. Thanks for your understanding!”

Nothing official has arrived from Abbath yet, but we’ll update when it does. In the mean time, where’s what a few festival attendees commented via Facebook:

Martin Undfors: He played 4 songs and it sounded Super-great! Awesome energy on stage and everything was good. But then he suddenly throws his guitar in the floor hard as fuck and walks of stage. Then drumsolo for some minutes before they close the gig.

J-p Kneip: Can confirm, 4 songs in, everything seemed ok, then he leaves the stage. We thought it was a technical issue and the drummer played an improvised solo, I think he didn’t know what was going on either. After that, he went backstage too and 10 minutes later, one of the Inferno guys came on stage and said that they (the band?) had asked him to tell people they wouldn’t finish the show and that they would issue a statement later. It’s very unprofessional, even if there were technical problems or problems within the band, the show must go on.

Kelly Keagy To Take Break From Night Ranger Following Heart Procedure

Kelly Keagy, the drummer, co-lead vocalist and co-founder of multi-platinum and long-running band Night Ranger, is taking a temporary leave of absence from the band during April and May as he recovers from a successful heart procedure.

Veteran drummers Deen Castronovo (formerly of Journey/Bad English) and Fred Coury (Cinderella) will sit in for Keagy for the next 6 weeks during the band’s 35th anniversary world tour, which coincides with the release of 11th studio album, “Don’t Let Up.”

Keagy issued the following statement: “I’ve dealt with a heart abnormality my entire life. At the recommendation of my doctors, I decided to undergo a procedure that will allow me to come back even stronger. I’ve asked the guys in the band to go ahead with the tour, and I’m looking forward to rejoining them on the road as soon as I can. I’m grateful for the support and prayers of my family, my bandmates, and our fans, which have meant everything to me as I’ve gone through this process.”

Keagy is now at home continuing his recovery, which is expected to take six weeks. Night Ranger’s Jack Blades (lead vocals, bass), Brad Gillis (lead & rhythm guitars), Keri Kelli (lead & rhythm guitars), and Eric Levy (keyboards) issued the following statement:

“We support and applaud Kelly’s decision to put his health first and undergo this treatment now so he can be back at full strength as quickly as possible. While it will be strange being out on the road without our brother Kelly for the first time in the band’s history, we take comfort in knowing it’s a temporary situation, and he’ll be back soon even stronger to continue the 35th anniversary world tour.

“We’re grateful to our buddies Deen and Fred, for agreeing to step in as guest drummers for Night Ranger during Kelly’s short hiatus (Deen will perform at the May shows and Fred will perform at the April shows). They’ve both been good friends of the band for years, and it’ll be great to be rockin’ America with them while Kelly recuperates.

“We know our fans join us in sending their thoughts and prayers to Kelly and his family as he recovers from his procedure, and we look forward to reuniting with him on the road very soon as we celebrate the release of ‘Don’t Let Up’ and the 35th anniversary world Tour rolls on.”

Napalm Records Inks Deal With Ye Banished Privateers, New Album Details Revealed

Ahoy sailors! Known for their excellent taste and passion for pirates in metal, Napalm Records welcomes a new band to the diverse and exciting artist roster and label family: Ye Banished Privateers has signed a worldwide record deal with Napalm Records! The band’s third studio album titled “First Night Back In Port” will be released on June 30th.

Ye Banished Privateers takes you 300 years back in time for an imaginary journey through the harsh life at sea during the early 18th century. With songs inspired by traditional Irish and Scandinavian folk music, acting and elaborate historical clothing the privateers tell a story about the rough sailor’s life, lived on the other side of the law – and the fight against oppression and nationalism.

Together, the nearly 30 crew members take turns to go on tour and plunder, and with around a dozen sailors on stage no two shows are ever the same. The mix of rude folk and punk music invites you to dance and sing along, while the gripping ballads will make the toughest pirate heart soft.

Says the band about the recent signing with Napalm Records: “Spring has finally come to the Gulf of Botnia, and with the rotting ice we are now able to set sail with some extraordinary good news onboard. We are immensely proud to announce that our chaotic band of Pirates will be joining forces with Napalm Records, to release our next album First Night Back in Port. Lock up the taverns and hide away the Rum, June 30th in the year of our lord 1717 (2017), this Pandora’s box of ear worms goes worldwide!

“Putting our pen and ink to the chart of Napalm Records means procuring the fire power to bring the forces of Europe to a total blockade. And by trading our royalties for rum and cherry beer, we estimate that we will save a fortune and a half in the years to come.”

Give these pirates a warm welcome, sailors! With Ye Banished Privateers you are in for an adventure that will rock you like a schooner in storm and feed your lust for new horizons under the black flag!

Magnus Karlsson, Ronnie Romero And Mike Terrana Form The Ferrymen, Details Of Debut Record Available

Frontiers Music Srl is truly excited to present The Ferrymen’s self-titled debut album, set for release on June 2nd.

The Ferrymen is a brand new project featuring guitarist Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear, Magnus Karlsson’s Free Fall) and vocalist Ronnie Romero Official Site (Lords Of Black, Rainbow), together with drummer Mike Terrana (Rage, Axel Rudi Pell, MasterPlan and more). Watch the band’s official EPK below.

The songs were written by Karlsson in Sweden during the summer of 2016. Once Romero was sent the music via their main bands’ shared label home Frontiers, he immediately wanted to be part of the project. Terrana was the last piece of the puzzle and he recorded his drums in Italy, where he currently resides.

The resulting album is a shot of adrenaline for all lovers of melodic metal! Musically, you can expect maximum melodic metal fusing the songwriting and epic structures of the great Allen/Lande records (for which Magnus Karlsson was the main architect of the first three widely praised releases) with the Ronnie James Dio-esque vocal approach of Romero (Let’s not forget that Romero was hand-picked by Deep Purple and Rainbow’s legendary guitarist Richie Blackmore to be the lead vocalist for Rainbow’s recent reunion shows, so the Dio comparison is more than accurate).

Tells Magnus, “When I wrote this record, having Ronnie singing, I had no limits in mind with the lyrics. Ronnie could sing everything and I am also very proud of the songs!”

“I am used to working with Lords of Black in a certain straight style,” adds Ronnie Romero, “but, this record was very different and it was very exciting for me!”

“Overall, I think it is one of the coolest and grooviest records I’ve ever done,” concludes Mike Terrana, a drummer with more than 100 records under his belt!

With stunning artwork courtesy of Stan W. Decker and an outstanding mix courtesy of Simone Mularoni (DGM), The Ferrymen is an album which will take the metal world by storm in 2017!

The track listing for the album is:

1. End Of The Road
2. Ferryman
3. Fool You All
4. Still Standing Up
5. Cry Wolf
6. One Heart
7. Darkest Hour
8. How The Story Ends

Pre-orders are online now right here. The band also comments: “‘Memory Palace’ is a journey into the ever changing and expanding void we find ourselves hurtling through, and a reflection on the fleeting knowledge one stands to gain within. It also speaks to the pitfalls of our god complex and the futility of enlightenment on any scale.”

The mysterious John Frum is the manifestation of four musical minds coalescing in a collective consciousness developed from time spent playing with The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Faceless, John Zorn, Cleric and many more elite projects. This unorthodox debut maneuvers through 40 minutes of darkly psychedelic and meticulously crafted death metal, acting as the backdrop of a bad trip. Fans can also see the band live:
