Coldfells Announces Self-Titled Album Release

Bindrune Recordings and Eihwaz Recordings are proud to co-release the self-titled Coldfells debut on a limited run of 100 hand-numbered LPs, part of a bundle including a digital download code, an embroidered patch, and a professionally replicated CD version of the two Coldfells demo tracks, “Dungeons Deep” and “On Carven Throne.”

This self-titled release is coming April 1st via the label collaboration, with Bindrune and Eihwaz also issuing this press release:

“A winter night of introspection demands appropriate accompaniment, and for that, the blackened doom of Coldfells provides a perfect soundtrack to journeys outside frozen windows and within frozen souls.

“Call it doom, yes, but doom with classic heavy metal tropes: unabashedly melodic guitar lines parallel each torn-throat roar, and triumphant, power-laden clean choir vocals ride upon the the genre’s earmarks of slowness and sorrow. Around its edges, however, the music’s epic black metal influence is never far, rounding out a recipe with riffs and blasts that enhance rather than dilute the anguish of the proceedings.

“And there is anguish aplenty, as each member of this trio reached beyond their past projects to unearth something new within themselves, whether its vocalist/guitarist Aaron Carey’s (Nechochwen, End, Infirmary) wrenchingly personal and ultimately universal storytelling; bass/drummer/backing vocalist Andrew D’Cagna’s (Nechochwen, Obsequiae, Unwilling Flesh) tenor causing all fists to rise on ‘All Night We Flew,’ or guitarist Jonny Doyle’s (Plaguewielder, Horse Drawn) unflinching riffs dragging hearts down into gloomy darkness.

“But the true connecting fiber of this band – the aura of their Appalachian surroundings – encapsulates the album’s sonic purpose: … to see the winter Appalachian landscapes we grew up around… the dead trees, grey skies, run-down mill towns… but, besides everything being desolate… that it’s still beautiful.”

Blessed Curse Announces New Album “Beware Of The Night”

Nor Cal’s Blessed Curse is back. It’s been some time since the trio released a full-length, self-titled album in 2012. But on March 31st these thrashers make a comeback with “Beware of the Night.”

Ripping and tearing through five new songs of blistering, aggressive metal, “Beware of the Night” was once again produced by Juan Urteaga (Sadus, Exodus, Testament) at Trident Studios.

“Recording with Juan has been a great experience in the past and this time was no different,” states drummer Derek Bean. “I feel like this whole session was an improvement from the 2012 self-titled album from our playing to the final masters. We worked timely and efficiently on getting these songs recorded to the best of all our abilities, which definitely shows in the final release.”

The album also introduces new bass player Dan Keenan. “The delay of the band also just had to do with finding the correct person who has the same goals and desires as us and wants to improve and push us forward into our own sound and style which took some time,” adds Derek.

Now armed with a new recording, featuring striking cover artwork from Stone Design’s Brian Lewis (DevilDriver, Black Label Society, Cultural Warfare), Blessed Curse has been doing regional shows, including one this week supporting The Mentors at Café Colonial in Sacramento on February 18th. In the meantime, the guys promise there won’t be as much delay between recordings with several new songs already written for a future full album.

Details Of Debut Full Length Album “Black Book – Chapter One” Issued By Angel Martyr

Italian speed metal act Angel Martyr announced details of the upcoming full length debut entitled “Black Book: Chapter One.” The album is set for release on March 17th via Iron Shield Records, with distribution via Pure Steel Records.

Angel Martyr was born from the ashes of the Wraith’sing, a project activated in 2006 by founding members Tiziano Hammerhead Sbaragli (Etrusgrave) and Tiziano Atreiu Chater (Ormgarth-former Imperium). The two came together to play pure heavy metal with fast and simple riffs, rhythmic impact, earsplitting high-notes and a powerful double bass drums. At that time, the song “Angel Martyr” was born, and quickly after was adopted as the band’s name. After some months, the members realized that musical visions were different and often very divergent so they split as friends.

In the 2012 installment of Heavy Metal Night, the band was reborn through Tiziano Sbaragli (vocals, guitars) and Dario Rosteni (bass) along with drummer Francesco Taddei – drums. Today, Taddei lives in London, but maintains his commitment with Angel Martyr. The band wrote and completed recordings for the full length debut.

The track listing for “Black Book: Chapter One” is:

1. Obsequies
2. They. … Among Us
3. Victims
4. Eric The Conqueror
5. Midnight Traveller
6. Turn On The Fire
7. Pirate Song
8. On The Divine Battlefield
9. Angel Martyr
