Red Fang Posts “Cut It Short” Video

Red Fang, which plays Rock on the Range today, adds to a growing canon of comedic clips by debuting the video for “Cut It Short” – check it out below.

Whitey McConnaughy directed the clip, continuing the partnership that birthed videos for “Wires,” “Prehistoric Dog,” “Hank Is Dead” and most recently “Shadows.” In the “Cut It Short” video, McConnaughy explores the inner dynamics of touring bands with hilarious accuracy.

Red Fang plays one additional North American date (May 26th at the Modified Ghost Festival II) before heading to Europe for a month of shows. The band resurfaces Stateside at Bumbershoot in September followed by a performance at Crucial Fest.

Details Of New Album “Malina” Issued By Leprous, Tour Dates With Agent Fresco

Norwegian progressive act Leprous is pleased to announce the much-anticipated new fifth studio album “Malina,” which is set to release on the August 25th via InsideOut Music. The album is the follow-up to the acclaimed record “The Congregation.” To coincide with the album’s release, the band will embark on an extensive European tour with special guests, Iceland’s Agent Fresco, plus Australia’s AlithiA and fellow Norwegian act Astrosaur.

Following a hugely successful EU tour as support to label-mates Devin Townsend Project, the band started the recording of the follow-up to 2015’s “The Congregation.” Front-man and keyboard player Einar Solberg comments: “This album is the perfect example of how you can start with a vision and end up with a result that has nothing to do with the original idea. The writing of the album started out with the idea to perfect the sound and working method we began with on ‘The Congregation’. While the writing process was actually pretty similar (30 sketches, elimination process etc etc) we gradually started noticing stuff with the sound and the songwriting on the previous album that we wanted to sound different. Gradually we realized what needed to be done. This album needs to sound more alive, more organic and more dynamic.”

The band entered the studio with David Castillo at Ghostward in Sweden, while mixing duties were once again taken care of by Jens Bogren. “David immediately understood where we wanted to go. We spent probably 4 times as many days in the studio as with any other recording we’ve done, for we’ve come to learn that if you want to sound unique that is primarily done during recordings, not the mix. We wanted it to sound like it sounded. We did not want to ‘digitalize’ the sound.”

With “Malina,” Leprous has made every effort to try new ways of working, and push the boundaries of the sound in ways the band had not originally set out to do. “We feel with ‘Malina’ that we’ve managed to achieve a natural sounding organic album with great songs that still sounds modern. Organic doesn’t necessarily equal ‘retro’. While we still very much sound like Leprous, I believe that with this album we more accurately define as a rock band than a metal band. We’re insanely proud of this album, and can’t wait to share it with you all.” This feeling is reflected in the stunning cover artwork too, which you can see above. Einar continues: “We wanted to try something new this time, and work with a new artist. Some good musician friends of ours recommended Corey Meyers. I checked him out, and damn he’s good. This is the first time we’ve ever received the perfect cover on the first attempt. It represents the album perfectly and looks pretty amazing!”

As mentioned, Leprous will head out on an extensive European tour this Autumn with Agent Fresco as special guests, including an appearance at the UK’s Damnation Festival. The band comments:

“We’re super excited to announce that we’re heading out on a European tour this fall to celebrate the new album. And guess what!? We’re bringing one of our generations greatest with us: the amazing Agent Fresco! In addition to that we’re bringing AlithiA from Australia, as well as Astrosaur – the band featuring our great step-in guitarist from the Devin tour. This is a dream tour for us, to be able to perform in all of these great places for our fantastic fans, listen to amazing music every night and also travel Europe with really good friends!”

Helsott Releases “Astralive” Video

On the release date of new EP, “The Healer,” there’s lots of news this week from the Helsott tribe. First comes a premiere of the band’s new promo video clip, “Astralive,” directed by Sicocis guitarist Rafael Ortega and available below.

“Filming ‘Astralive’ was a very enjoyable experience,” explains vocalist Eric Dow. “Raf was great to work with and Coop and I had fun scouting for a location in Arrowhead. We want to thank Mike Grieg for letting us set up camp.”

“I love how cold the video came out,” adds drummer Cooper Dustman. “It was actually blistering hot that day, we all got sunburns! Finding this remote spot in the mountains was adventurous considering the gps can only show so much. We scouted and shot this within a few days, and we’re proud of the final product.”

Second, Helsott is pleased to announce some upcoming tour dates, including the band’s first trip to Europe. The group will be supporting I Am Morbid (the new band from Morbid Angel’s David Vincent and Tim Yeung playing tracks from the first 4 classic Morbid Angel albums) and death metal legends Necrophagia.

“We have been working so hard to fulfill our goals,” states Eric Dow. “Taking our brand of Pagan Death Metal overseas has always been an ultimate goal for this band and now that we have the opportunity we will take full advantage of it. Europe… Helsott is finally coming!

The run is immediately followed by joining the west coast dates of the just announced Tengger Cavalry / Felix Martin tour.

“We are excited to be joining our label mates, Tengger Cavalry, and the amazing Felix Martin on a west coast leg of their North American Raid,” explains Eric. “This is a unique line-up and fans are in for a treat!”

Cut Up releases video for “Behead the Dead”

– April 27th, 2017 –

Confirmed for Summer Breeze festival 2017

Just one month ago, Swedish death metallers Cut Up released their sophomore album, Wherever They May Rot, worldwide via Metal Blade Records! Today, the band has released a new video for the album track “Behead The Dead”, which can be viewed at: youtube.com/watch?v=OxLjYNBOWlw

Cut Up guitarist/vocalist Andreas Bjornson comments: “The time has come to deliver a new video upon thee and we’re going all in on the Deathgrind with ‘Behead The Dead’! Working once again with our Arvika film crew we have created a suiting old-school VHS-like video for this unrelenting song. The lyrics describe the action plan for a corpse that simply will not rest and fits the music accordingly. Turn the stereo all the way up to eleven and blast shit to bits! Our brand new album, ‘Wherever They May Rot‘, is out NOW worldwide through Metal Blade Records!”

With an impressive collective past in the extreme side of metal and the ambition to blaze the trail of musical violence, Cut Up has come to claim the throne. Combining grinding death metal with a modern approach and high musicianship, yet always with key focus on brutality, these Swedes are notorious for bringing the gore wherever they go. Destrage posts in-depth making-of-video of ‘A Means to No End’

– April 26th, 2017 –

Set to kick off European tour with Periphery, The Contortionist next week

You can try to put Destrage in a box but you will never succeed. Words such as “progressive”, “cinematic”, “mathcore”, “technical” and “groove-laden”, could be thrown at them, but really the only one you need is Destrage, for they are in a category of their own making. This has never been more true than on A Means To No End, the fourth full-length from the Milan, Italy-based 5-piece, which was released last October via Metal Blade Records. Riveting from start to finish, it leads the listener through an emotionally-charged labyrinth of complex yet catchy melody and muscle, following nobody’s rules, and it stands out as one of the truly unique releases of 2016.

For a preview of A Means To No End, Destrage has now posted an in-depth making-of-video for the album, which can be viewed at: youtube.com/watch?v=DPoFYvKLRes

Destrage‘s Matteo Di Giola (guitar) comments: “The best thing about entering the studio is that the rest of the world stays out. The band members and the studio crew captured the images themselves, behind closed doors, to focus on what was the most immersive and challenging record-making of their career. Now, a year from then, the external eye of a talented director sums it up and makes it a tale. Big thanks go to Bode Music Gear for making this possible.”

To support this outstanding album, Destrage will join Periphery and The Contortionist next week on the “European Unrest Tour”. See below for all dates!

The Fifth Alliance Parting With Drummer Ashwin

The Fifth Alliance – a doom / sludge from Breda, The Netherlands – is now parting ways with drummer Ashwin, who issued this statement online:

“Alright folks, here’s quite an announcement: I’ve decided to call it quits as drummer of The Fifth Alliance. After 6-7 years of going full force with the band I have come to the conclusion that my interests have shifted. For the last year and a half up until now I have been experiencing a process where I started noticing that both the ambition and the joy I experienced before is slowly fading away.

“Rather than throwing in the towel immediately, I felt that the rational thing to do was to keep going and see if the feeling got stronger. Well, it did. And it’s time to come to grips with it. The Fifth Alliance is growing steadily as a band and they deserve a fully committed drummer; a role that I can’t live up to anymore. Therefore, I will be leaving the band after my last show on the 24th of June in my hometown; Roosendaal.

“All the other band members have shown a great amount of appreciation and understanding for my situation. They’ve been dealing with it like champs and with that mentality and a little bit of luck they managed to find a new drummer immediately.

“It only took two rehearsals with our first and only candidate to figure out that this was going to work out very well. Tim Monomentum from Monomentum Collective will be my successor and he is stoked to start blasting away. I wish him and the rest of the band all the best and I will be looking forward to hearing their new material in the near future.”

The Fifth Alliance had this to add: “We are definitely going to miss Ashwin in the band as being a great guy and drummer. We just want to thank him for all the awesome years and wish him all the very best in future. As mentioned, Ashwin will be doing his last show with us in his hometown at Roosendaal Open Air 2017. Make it count.”

God Dethroned releases single and video for title track of new album, ‘The World Ablaze’

– April 14th, 2017 –

On May 5th, Dutch death metallers God Dethroned will release their new album, The World Ablaze, worldwide via Metal Blade Records! To hear the second single and title track of the record, a new video for “The World Ablaze” can be viewed at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vBogAvuq3Y

Henri Sattler (vocals/guitars) comments: “This song is a mix between epic melodies and fast but catchy riffs – and a song where Mike Ferguson shows off his skills as a lead guitar player. The lyrics deal with the war then, but can also be projected on the current situation in the world.”

To hear the first single, “On the Wrong Side of the Wire”, please visit: metalblade.com/goddethroned – where The World Ablaze can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

–CD/DVD Digipak
–Jewelcase CD
–180g black vinyl
–pale violet vinyl (limited to 400 copies – EU exclusive)
–gray-marbled vinyl (limited to 300 copies – EU exclusive)
–clear-pastel rose vinyl (limited to 200 copies – EMP exclusive)
–deep violet-marbled vinyl (limited to 200 copies – USA exclusive)
–clear/black-marbled vinyl (limited to 100 copies – Hells Headbangers exclusive)
* exclusive bundles with a shirt, plus digital options are also available!

God Dethroned comments: “‘The World Ablaze‘ is our final album in the WWI trilogy. We aimed to create an album that is very dynamic and diverse. It contains typical GD riffing with loads of melodies and catchy hooks. The songs are perfect for our live shows as they contain many mid-tempo parts combined with faster and more brutal parts. Diversity to the max! Dan Swano mixed the album in his typical fashion but without robbing the band of its own identity. Mastering was handled at the Wisseloord Studios where they also mastered albums for bands like Rammstein, among many others, and they put the icing on the cake. The album sounds crystal clear and heavy as fuck at the same time. We are very proud to present this album during our upcoming Serpent Fest album release shows early May!”

1. A Call to Arms
2. Annihilation Crusade
3. The World Ablaze
