Valient Thorr Frontman Blasts Napalm Records: “They Can Go Fuck Themselves”

Valient Thorr vocalist Valient Himself is obviously not a fan of Napalm Records, who released the outfit’s latest effort “Old Salt”. Talking on the MetalSucks Podcast, he slams the label, stating:

“It’s unfortunate that we have a label that doesn’t really give a shit about us. Because that record came out August 30th of last year, and we did three tours in Europe around it and this tour right here [the annual ‘Vans Warped Tour‘] is the first one we’ve done in the States. So it would be nice if we’d had some kind of push from the label… I think it was like one of those… I don’t know if it’s a tax scam or what… but we didn’t sell like ten or fifteen thousand records the first day or something, so they don’t give a damn about us.”

“I’m not afraid to say it, we’re speaking about Napalm Records.”

He continues:

“Everyone in Europe said that they were great, ‘It’s gonna be fantastic, you’re gonna be on this great label.’ Everyone thought that. And they didn’t spend any money to put out any ads [for the album]. They promised us tour support, they didn’t [give us any]. They literally gave us a list of bands of who we should tour with — ‘You do a tour with them you’ll get some support.’ First name on the list [is] Clutch. ‘Hey, you wanna do a tour with Clutch in December?’ ‘Yeah, absolutely!’ We did it.

And Clutch’s profile has gotten HUGE in Europe. We toured with them in 2011 and they were big but, now they’re doing 2,500-3,000 cap places and selling them out all over Europe. And that was in Decmember and we did that. And we had to do local shows just to pay for our own airfare and everything because [Napalm] weren’t kicking down anything. And the same with this tour.

We’d be killing it on this tour right now… I don’t wanna say I’m completely unhappy because I’m a happy person, I’m not gonna let one thing run me down, but we’d be a lot happier if we weren’t spending every nickel that we made on this tour on our transportation, y’know what I mean? And when you have a label that doesn’t give a shit about you, that’s what happens.”

“This is our first and last record with them. They can go fuck themselves.”

The Unguided Announces New Vocalist Jonathan Thorpenberg

Former guitarist and singer Roland Johannsson has decided to leave The Unguided, and now the band has brought on new frontman Jonathan Thorpenberg.

After having released a 2-track EP in December of last year, it’s time to get ready for the full-length studio album to follow. Please welcome “And The Battle Royale” – scheduled for a worldwide November 10th 2017 release via Napalm Records!

Richard Sjunnesson states: “We’ve without doubt sacrificed our five souls into this one. Everyone knew it would be a career defining record after the departure of our highly acclaimed brother and we had no intensions to disappoint our fans nor ourselves writing and record this dynamic monster with innovative producer Dino Medanhodzic. Everyone indeed brought their absolute A-game on this record and Jonathan over performed in every possible way whilst also bringing something completely new to the table. A table which much urgently needed it I’d say. Come November and the battle royale will make or break you!”

Cavalera Conspiracy Announces New Album “Psychosis”

Cavalera Conspiracy – led by brothers and founding Sepultura members Max and Iggor Cavalera –
today unveiled first details about the release of a fourth studio album, to be titled “Psychosis.” The upcoming record is set for release on November 17th, 2017 via Napalm Records and was produced by longtime friend Arthur Rizk in Phoenix, Arizona.

Max Cavalera commented in a recent interview with Metal Wani: “The album right now is finished. It was produced by Arthur Rizk, our friend and a great producer – an upcoming, underground producer. And he did a great job. I love the record. There are nine songs. We’ve got one song with Justin from Godflesh – just a great Nailbomb, Godflesh, Cavalera kind of song.

“The rest is all pure thrash madness. And we had it mastered a couple of days ago by Joel Grind from Toxic Holocaust; he mastered the album. And it’s great, man. It’s a beast of an album. I think a lot of people are are gonna be surprised when they hear it. It’s, for me, the best of all the CAVALERA albums, my favorite one. And it’s got the same intensity and energy of the old stuff like ‘Beneath The Remains’ and ‘Arise’. So a lot of people are gonna be happy to hear that.”

The Agonist Posts “The Raven Eyes” Music Video

As The Agonist gets ready to hit the road, the band just released a video for “The Raven Eyes,” taken from Napalm Records debut album “Five,” which was released late last year.

Guitarist Danny Marino comments: “Writing this was a departure for Vicky and I but it may have been one of the most rewarding as songwriters. It allowed us to explore sounds and emotions we’ve always wanted to but could never quite get to in a metal setting.

“Also, working with Igor Khoroshev (Yes) really helped bring out the full depth of Vicky’s piano and string arrangements. The lyrics were originally inspired by stories of the renaissance plague doctors. FTB Visuals was able to take these themes and create a modern world storyline with an equally dark overtone that captured the painful emotions in the song.”

The band is currently preparing for a headline Canadian tour starting August 4th in Montreal, QC and running through August 29th in Regina, SK. A complete list of dates can be found after the video.

Honeymoon Disease Announces New Album “Part Human, Mostly Beast”

Honeymoon Disease will unleash new album “Part Human, Mostly Beast” on the 27th of October via The Sign Records. The Swedish rock quartet’s second album is filled with high voltage pulse, colorful sounds and lots of groovy soul.

The band worked with producer Ola Ersfjord (Imperial State Electric, Primordial, Tribulation, Dead Lord) since the recording of last album “The Transcendence “(Napalm Records), which led up to a recording session with better crafted songs, a more luxurious production and a lot of focus on the vocal arrangements.

During the pre-production, the band and producer Ola Ersfjord found a mutual interest in old soul records. This interest paved the way for a recording session with a focus on strong vocal arrangements with more chorus and soul. Check out first single “Electric Eel” below. The full track listing is as follows:

1. Doin’ it Again
2. Only Thing Alive
3. Tail Twister
4. Rymdvals
5. Needle In Your Eye
6. Fly Bird, Fly High
7. Calling You
8. Four Stroke Woman
9. Night By Night
