Dead By Wednesday Splits With Guitarist Ross Ragusa

Due to personal reasons, guitarist Ross Ragusa has chosen to amicably part ways with Connecticut based metal band Dead by Wednesday.

Ross states, “I love my brothers in DBW, I wish them nothing but success, as they deserve it for the years of hard work they put into this project. This was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make in my life. But the road has done serious damage to my back and neck, so I need to step away to get healthy, pursue an education in music, and come out strong to become the musician I was born to be.”

As hard as it was for the rest of the band to hear this, the show must go on, and the remaining band members wish him nothing but the best. Drummer Opus comments: “Although we will miss Ross on many different levels, we look forward to the the excitement and possibilities of working with some new energy and flesh blood. We don’t care how long it takes for our search, but hopefully our ‘Randy Rhodes’ will walk through the door.”

DBW will be holding national auditions for a replacement guitarist. All candidates must be pro and willing to tour. According to the band, “To be considered, you must be as good or better than Mr. Ross Ragusa. If you think you got what it takes, and are serious about your career, email Omindsnap@aol.com.”

The band was planning on writing a full-length album with Ross, but because of his departure Dead By Wednesday will instead finish the seven songs already written and recorded with him, and release it as an EP. It will also feature Charlie Bellmore (the guitarist of Kingdom of Sorrow/Jasta), who will be finishing off some of the guitar solo duties. Dead By Wednesday is currently in the studio with producer Nicholas T. Rage, who has recorded the likes of Hatebreed, Kingdom of Sorrow, and Toxic Holocaust. The new EP, titled “The Death of the Rockstar,” will be released early 2014 through Mindsnap Music and distributed by Fake Four, Inc / Red Eye, followed by a nationwide tour.

The first single off the EP, “Left for Dead,” is is also featured on the summer release of Hatewear’s “For The Headbanger’s/Brutal New Music Vol. # 4” comp CD out now.

On September 17th, 2013, at the Second Annual Connecticut Music Awards, Dead by Wednesday snagged the award for “Best Metal” band for the second year in a row. Bassist Mide Modeste states: “We are super happy to have won the best metal award two years in a row, and want to thank all of our family, friends, and fans who voted and believe in us, helping us to win again.”

Nephelium Splits With Drummer Alan Madhavan

Nephelium has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with drummer Alan Madhavan:

“It is with great sadness that we announce Alan’s decision to leave the ranks of Nephelium. Alan has been with the band since its inception, we had incredible times together and will never forget those. We wish Alan all the best in his commitment of being a full time drum teacher (can’t give up those sticks!), and thank our brother for his contribution to Nephelium during our many, many years together.

“We are however pleased to announce that skinsman Dave Black (Blastomycosis, Will of The Ancients) will be fulfilling drumming duties, allowing Nephelium to still perform at the Spread The Metal Festival in Toronto this coming September 7th, with headliners Suffocation!”

Alan commented with his own words on his departure: “It is with profound and sentimental sadness that I announce my departure from Nephelium. To say that my time in this band has played a key role in making me the musician I am today, would be an understatement. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members that I’ve played with through the years, from back home and here, all the bands and artists I’ve shared the stage with and most importantly, all our fans around the world – Nothing would ever be possible without you – YOU GUYS ROCK!!! I wish Devlin, Alex and Flo the very best with their success musically and personally – take it to the top boys!”

Dir En Grey To Release New Single "Rinkaku" With Remix By Akira Yamaoka

Dir En Grey has issued the following announcement about releasing a new single, which will also feature a remix by the musician behind the Silent Hill games:

“This staggering track that could purify even the deepest of resentments is finally here. Since the release of 8th album ‘DUM SPIRO SPERO,’ the band went into hiatus following a vigorous touring schedule in Japan and abroad, and now a year and a half since their last single release, they are back with ‘RINKAKU’ which will hit stores this December 19, 2012.

“The track is unlike anything you have heard before, almost overturning the band’s musical concept on a new scale, coming in with a range full of depth with Kyo’s vocals that evoke classical elements in this beautiful and intricate melodic track which builds up dramatically with the intertwining guitars and bass.

“The new single from Dir En Grey will be released with two tracks which will include a new rendition of ‘Kiri to Mayu’ previously released on the album ‘MISSA’ (25.07.1997) and a remix of ‘RINKAKU’ by famed sound designer of horror game series ‘Silent Hill,’ Akira Yamaoka. Once again Tue Madsen came on as the Mix Engineer for this release after lending his unrivaled expertise on ‘DUM SPIRO SPERO.'”
