Fuath Releasing Debut Album “I”

Neuropa Records is proud to announce the release of “I,” the debut album of Scotland’s Fuath, a new black metal project created by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Andy Marshall, better known as the mastermind behind Celtic black metal act Saor.

Unlike Saor, which finds Marshall focusing mostly on a folksy and epic black metal, here the musician delves into a darker and more melancholic side of the genre, marrying fierce and harsh riffs, unrelenting double-kick drums and raspy screams with melancholic melodies and hypnotic, gloomy ambiences. Andy Marshall comments:

“I am a massive fan of hypnotic atmospheric black metal, especially early 90’s stuff like Burzum’s ‘Hvis lyset tar oss,’ early Darkthrone and also modern bands such as Paysage d’hiver and Vemod.

“I wanted to create a cold, hypnotic and melancholic black metal album which tried to capture the feelings I felt listening to these bands. I always come back to these bands when winter comes along and I feel their sounds are perfect for this time of year, almost kind of spiritual in a way.”

Mixed and mastered by Spenser Morris, “I” will be released on February 1st on CD and LP via Neuropa Records. The track listing is:

1. In the Halls of the Hunter
2. Blood
3. The Oracle
4. Spirit of the North

Infection Code Announces 15th Anniversary EP Release

Infection Code has checked in with the following announcement about an upcoming 15th anniversary release:

“This year we celebrate 15 years of activity, creating noise. 15 intense years, rich rewards, some disappointments, a lot of sacrifices, several people met, known, become friends or fleeting faces disappeared. Same thing for the bands. Hundreds of different sounds encountered on our way. Many of these remained, many vanished.

“We are still here with five albums, a MCD, a split album, and more than two hundred concerts. To celebrate this period, fundamental to our growth as artists and humans, we decided to go out with an EP containing four songs. It will be a compendium of some pieces that are part of our history, played, arranged and recorded with the current physical strength, mental, emotional and creative. And also featuring one song never released before.

“The work will be titled ’00 – 15: l’avanguardia industriale’ and will be released in the Fall of 2015 by Argonauta Records. Also with a video track with live images and footage from the recording studio and created by director Ivan Ferrera. We will record at the Archensiel Studios Asti owned by our guitarist Paolo that will take care of all the recording process supported by our sound engineer Carmine Leone.

“The album will be mixed and produced by Oktopus at the Uptown Mixers in Harlem, New York. Oktopus is the musician tied to Dalek and has produced, in addition to all his records, even bands like Starkweather, Burnt by the sun, Candiria. In addition to producing the album he will participate with his visionary electronics parts in one song with Rennie Resmini, Starkweather singer. The artwork will be once again created by Marco Castagnetto (zenpunkart.com), author of the beautiful cover of La Dittatura del Rumore.”

Ihsahn Working On New Material

After Emperor reunited for a run of 20th anniversary shows, Ihsahn is back working on new solo material and will apparently no longer be using the members of Leprous as his backing band. Ihsahn had this to say:

“Back on track with new music and new live shows!

“First of all, the ‘In the Nightside Eclipse’ 20th anniversary shows with Emperor have been a big priority for me in 2014 and I would like to thank everyone on stage, behind the stage and in front of the stage for making this celebration such a great experience!

“Also, a special thanks to Ibanez Guitars, Blackstar Amplification, Rotosound Music Strings and Norsk Musikk Distribusjon for all the continued support on the road!

“Now, this has not kept me entirely busy for the whole year, so since January I’ve also been writing material for the next Ihsahn album, partly interrupted by rehearsals, shows and a total rebuild of our studio.

“On the live front, several shows are all ready announced for 2015, and I’m excited to tell you that I’ll be back on stage with a new, handpicked line-up that I am confident will take my songs to a new dimension.

“On that note, I’d like to thank Leprous for a fantastic collaboration over many years!! They have been invaluable in getting my songs to the stage and we’ve had some great trips around the world. Maybe now we’ll actually get to watch each other’s shows

“That’s it from an autumn-dressed Telemark……Now, to the batcave!”

The forthcoming solo album from Ihsahn will follow last year’s “Das Seelenbrechen” (reviewed here), an experimental release that saw the musician going in a very different direction from previous albums.

Party Smasher Inc. Interviews Mastodon’s Brent Hinds

Party Smasher Inc. – the musician / artist / photography site created by Dillinger Escape plan’s Ben Weinman – has released a new video interview with Mastodon’s Brent Hinds, which can be seen below. Party Smasher also comments:

“Mastodon started in 1999; a couple of years after the Dillinger Escape Plan. Fifteen years later, Brent Hinds and Ben Weinman surprisingly still bear each other enough to start a brand new project together as GTO, the Giraffe Tongue Orchestra.

“For this 1-on-1 between the two, Brent Hinds recollects how he was just listening to ‘devil music’ for his parents before he became one of Satan’s worst rejects himself a few years later with Mastodon, and the upcoming GTO. “

Rob Zombie’s Great American Nightmare has announced additional onsite experiences for the ultimate Halloween horror event, this year held at WestWorld Of Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona for select nights from September 19th – November 1st, 2014.

As in 2013, Great American Nightmare will feature a Rob Zombie museum area displaying memorabilia from the musician and filmmaker’s movie and music career. In addition, the galactic hard rockers in Powerman 5000 have been added to the September 19th opening night concert–already featuring headliner Rob Zombie.

Powerman 5000’s new electro-tinged album “Builders of the Future” (T-Boy Records/Ume) is available on iTunes, Amazon.com, and PledgeMusic.com and features the song “Invade Destroy Repeat,” currently receiving airplay on KUPD-FM in Phoenix.

Great American Nightmare is a fully immersive haunted house experience featuring three attractions based on Rob Zombie’s own horror films: The Lords Of Salem In Total Black Out, Captain Spaulding’s Clown School In 3D, and The Devil’s Rejects.

Surrender Of Divinity Frontman Murdered By Fan

As reported by the Bangkok Post and Death Metal Underground, a self-styled Satanist posted on his Facebook page that he was the one who murdered Samong ‘Avejee’ Traisattha, bassist/vocalist of Thailand black metal band Surrender Of Divinity.

Jaruvan Surapol, 34, the musician’s wife, told police that the killer was Prakarn Harnphanbusakorn, a fan of her husband’s band. Prakarn had gone to the singer’s house on Wednesday night to screen print some shirts and have a few beers. After the wife had put her child to bed, she went to check on her husband and encountered him stabbed over thirty times. Prakarn then posted the following litany on Facebook:

“I have intended to end my life since I was 25. Because I’ll die eventually, I want to drag down those who tarnish Satanism with me. But I refrained from killing women and children,” he wrote.

“In my view, I have more respect for devoted Buddhists, Christians and Muslims than those who call themselves Satanists without knowing anything about it,” he wrote. “If I did not kill him, I’m sure he would be murdered by someone else later.”

‘Maleficent Meditation’ (Prakarn’s FB name) concluded that people who do not have faith in Satan should not call themselves Satanists. He also said he hoped he would be with Satan after he died. He also uploaded a photo of the grisly crime scene to his timeline.

Surrender Of Divinity issued the following statement on its band page:

“Avajee, our Black Vomitor/Bass Thunder and most importantly our blood-brother has passed away yesterday by a cruel murderer. No words can express about this lost in our horde. Have a rest down there brother! May our blackest flames blazing bright forever!”

Debut Album Announced By The Experiment No.Q

The Experiment No.Q is a musical project written and directed by the musician/comedian/scenograph: Paolo Vallerga (No.Q). The Experiment draws together musicians from all over the world, combining a diverse range of styles, musical backgrounds and personalities to create a meeting of creative worlds… the one common point: No.Q.

A Rock album that combines the power of metal with the beauty of poetic atmosphere, the Experiment No. Q fuses together the energies of each musician involved to create a unique and theatrical new world. A realm where musicians are the characters and music tells the story as we weave our way through a metal-infused dimension of leather, poetry and sensuality… amidst a cloud of steam-punk dust!

The musicians involved are: Kevin Zwierzchaczewski (Lord Byron); Nalle Påhlsson, Johan Koleberg and Linnéa Vikström (Therion); Teddy Möller and Jimmy Mattsson (LochVostok), Andrea Palazzo (Osanna, Frank Mc Comb), Emanuel Victor (Wanderer’s Nights, DobleD), Sabrina Rivagli (SB II, session bassist), Marco Rivagli (Divina), Mattia Garimanno (Il Castello di Atlante), Marco Signore (Heavenshine) just to name a few.

“All the musicians are friends of mine, fantastic guys and gorgeous musicians who are happy to play in my project as you can hear in every note of each song. For this reason, to record the album, we wanted them at the same time, in the same place… We needed to share time together to feel the music better.” says Paolo.

“This is an emotional experience, song by song we hope to surprise the fans. I’m a writer and my songs are inspired by both my poetic nature and my metal soul. It is by mixing these two elements that is born… The experiment No.Q”.

The project, with the great illustrations of Giacomo Rinaldi, will be released at the beginning of 2014 via Aenima Recordings and Nembo Records. Check out the preview clip here:
