Preview For New EP “Symptoms” Issued By Maladie

After issuing the albums “Plaque Within” and “Still,” German extreme metal act Maladie is unveiling the first ever EP on December 2nd, 2016. But “Symptoms” is not trying to shorten the incubation period. Instead, the plague continues to blaze a complex trail. Check out the teaser below to gain insight.

Different. A seemingly simple attribute, that gets new depths with every single release of Maladie. The EP “… symptoms…” reveals a further facet of differentness. Its running-time of nearly 42 minutes and the fact that there’s only one song on it don’t really correlate with the expectations on this format. The contained song “Divinitas – A Journey” also crushes conventions with its combination of unleashed extreme metal fury, mellow passages with pianos, saxophones, oboes and strings as well as polyphonic vocals and choirs. Their musical journey never unveils the next step to the listener which is perfectly shown on the atmospheric artwork (once again created by Remy of Headsplit Design). Maladie are different…”

Monolithe Releasing New Album “Zeta Reticuli”

Monolithe continues a fascinating musical journey with new album “Zeta Reticuli,” which is part two of the “Epsilon Aurigae” series and is due to drop July 8th via Debemur Morti Productions. The label comments:

“On this new colossal opus, the band – more powerful than ever – transposes the bold, exploratory approach of greats such as Magma or Univers Zero into the mystical universe of cosmic heavy music. ‘Zeta Reticuli’ is a monster: a stellar explosion of sound and emotion powered by a massive groove and avalanches of overwhelming riffs.

“Simultaneously epic, grandiose, melodic and deadly heavy, ‘Zeta Reticuli’ expands the definition of doom metal in a sublime refinement and reinvention of Monlithe’s history. Mesmerizing and fascinating from beginning to end, this brilliant new album is undoubtedly the magnum opus of this incredibly unique band.”

Dee Calhoun Signs With Argonauta Records

Argonauta Records is beyond proud to announce a new great name is now part of the family: Dee Calhoun – known to the masses as Screaming Mad Dee, the voice of doom metal legends Iron Man – will release his debut solo album “Rotgut” by late spring 2016.

Rotgut bears its moniker not only as a title, but as a frame of mind. “When I think of ‘rotgut,'” Dee explains, “I think of something inexpensively produced, very unrefined, and that knocks you on your ass when you indulge in it. And the next day, you’re still feeling it. This very much sums up my approach to this record. The songs on the album are very personal, and the acoustic approach suits them perfectly.”

Argonauta adds: “As with most of Dee’s material – which spans nearly 30 years – the songs on ‘Rotgut’ are (pardon the pun) from the gut, with no pretentiousness, and draw inspiration from the ongoing triumphs and struggles of everyday life. Mistakes, redemption, strength, and the knowledge that there are no promises, but only the eternal attempt to find happiness are just a few of the themes that the singer/songwriter from Frederick, MD present here.

“Dee Calhoun began his musical journey as a small boy, and first appeared on record in the late 1980s. He has been the singer/lyricist for Iron Man since 2010, appearing on two EPs and the critically acclaimed 2013 LP ‘South of the Earth.'”

Regarding the signing with Argonauta, Dee is all smiles. “It’s important to me to work with entities who favor artists as opposed to product. Argonauta has an amazing roster of bands, and Gero is wonderful to work with. Our partnership is only in its infancy, but the first impressions have been top-notch. I look forward to this partnership moving onward and upward.”

Alcest To Release New Album “Shelter”

“Shelter” is the fourth album by contemporary shoegazers Alcest, the destination of a long creative musical journey into vast new territories. The album is due out January 21st, 2014 via Prophecy Productions and the label comments:

“More than ever the French outfit consisting of mastermind and multi-instrumentalist Neige and drummer Winterhalter embraces the dreamy guitar textures of shoegaze and blends it with the sweetness of british band Cocteau Twins- dream pop pioneers of the mid to late 80’s era, epic, soundtrack-like melodies and progressive song structures.

“The album which features guest appearances from Slowdive’s Neil Halstead (lead vocals on the song ‘Away’), Sweden’s Promise And The Monster’s Billie Lindahl and Amiina’s strings sections was recorded at Sundlaugin Studio, Iceland, with Sigur Rós producer Birgir Jón Birgisson who masterfully gave ‘Shelter’ its light and ethereal sound.

“Conceptually, the title of the album ‘Shelter’ says it all. The record is about the concept of shelter as a safe place that allows everybody to escape reality for an instant, to reunite with what we really are, deep down. Neige’s own shelter turned out to be the sea, as well as the tracks of this album, all inspired by and dedicated to it.”

The album’s track listing is as follows:

1. Wings
2. Opale
3. La Nuit Marche Avec Moi
4. Voix Sereines
5. L’Eveil Des Muses

7. Away
8. Délivrance
