Phil Anselmo To Debut New Band En Minor At Psycho Las Vegas 2019

Former Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo, who’s also know for a number of other bands including Down, Superjoint Ritual and Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, has announced that he will debut his latest project, En Minor, at the upcoming Psycho Las Vegas event, which will take place from August 16th – 18th at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

Speaking with DamnationVault.com, Anselmo says, “I will say that the darkest, heaviest, most miserable shit I’ve ever written I have not released and that’s a band called En Minor. I’ve never put it out, man. And I still… I don’t know if I’m getting cold feet or not, man. It’s not party music, it’s not good time music. People are asking me to do gigs with it and shit like that and I just don’t know if it’s going to translate the way people might envision because they haven’t heard the music, it’s so hard for me to explain it. It’s heart-wrenching shit, man. It’s very hard for me to just explain and it’s also very hard for me to… It’s tough because no one’s heard it and I don’t know if people should fuckin’ hear it, man.”

He continues: “It is, I guess, the truest, darkest record I’ve ever done in my life and I’m just not sure about it. I’m not sure about it. I think the musicianship is great, I love the band I have surrounding me… I just… When I do a project, I go 1000%. So like, with the last Illegals record, it was a death metal style, death metal flavor of the moment that was really reigning supreme when we were writing the stuff. So that’s where I went with that and stayed true to it stylistically. The same can be said with En Minor.”

Misery Index Premiere Pre-Release Full-Album Stream Of Upcoming New Album “Rituals Of Power”

Misery Index premiere their entire new album “Rituals Of Power” streaming for you ahead of its impending release below.

Comment the band of the new record:

“‘Rituals Of Power‘ is a disavowal and warning against the consequences of our so-called ‘post-truth’ age. Each of the 9 songs revolves loosely around this theme, yet each track also stands very much on its own. As an album however, they are all brought to life as one ‘reanimated’ monster; it’s roughly 35 minutes of unhinged, yet cohesive, riff-driven aural ballistics.

We were pissed off and on fire during both the writing and recording, and we think it shows in spades. We set out to write the best album we could, based on what we would want to hear first as fans of this music, and we could not be happier.”

Reunited Chokehold Premiere Single “2.0”

Reunited Canadian hardcore band Chokehold will have a new record entitled “With This Thread I Hold On” released through Good Fight Music on April 19th. A first track called “2.0” is streaming ahead of that for you below.

Comments frontman Chris Logan speaking of the new single:

“‘2.0‘ is a song about the hardcore community and the use of social media to tear down like-minded individuals within it. Hardcore was built on our collective discomfort with society, but it now seems that it’s promoting more dissatisfaction among ourselves. In a way, we are losing sight of what this is supposed to be about and how we should be treating each other.

Political discussion in hardcore is becoming stagnant over the fear of alienation over the difference of opinion. While the world is falling apart around us, we are happy to cut and paste and copy and share our revolution blindly because we are too busy internalizing, shaming and collecting hardcore toys. No more us versus us, it’s us versus them.”

He adds:

“We are incredibly fortunate as a band to be still doing this thing after so many years. We are even luckier to be doing it with our longtime friends at Good Fight. We have always wanted this group to be a vessel for us as individuals to vent our ideas and our anger about injustices, politics and life challenges.

The world seems like it’s in its death throes and we are constantly bombarded with those things designed to keep us sedate and in place. It’s especially easy in these times to become victims of those traps and to feel overwhelmed and helpless. This record covers a lot of uncomfortable topics but moving forward means talking about them and exposing them. This band and this music is the thread we are holding on by, the thing that gives us a voice to be heard and hopefully allows us to make a change no matter how small.”

– March 5th, 2019 –

On April 5th, legendary multinational thrash metallers Exumer will release their fifth full-length, Hostile Defiance, via Metal Blade Records.

Hostile Defiance is exactly what its title suggests.
