Kissing Candice Streams New Song “Taken”

Kissing Candice is now debuting a brand new song titled “Taken,” which can be heard in the player below.

“’Taken’ represents a new era of Kissing Candice,” declares bassist Grippo. “We went into the studio with open minds and a blank slate, leaving everything at the door. ‘Taken’ is the song we have wanted to write.”

Guitarist Dreamer adds that the track is “an emotional introspective of the psyche when the most important footholds in life are taken away from you, whether by force or other means.”

After performing on the main stage at this year’s Gathering Of The Juggalos, Kissing Candice is preparing to bring a newly produced, macabre stage show to the masses this fall, including the Rock And Shock Festival in Worcester, MA on October 15th.

GWAR Posts New Q & A Video Discussing Upcoming Album

The scum dogs of the universe are working on a new album and have decided to announce it in properly bizarre fashion with a new episode of Pusty’s Mailbag. The band comments:

“Day after day we are bludgeoned with an onslaught of lame questions and it’s time we answered the most important one… Yes, GWAR has united itself to record yet another disasterpiece and it has been secretly in the writing phase for months in a crackhouse of seclusion in the northside of Chicago. A due date for the record has not been decided but the band is grinding out what may prove to be their most savage and bloodthirsty tracks to date.

“The Scumdogs are also currently searching for a producer that is brave enough to risk their life to give them the tones of the gods to make this next record stand as a testament to the next era of GWAR.

“We had found out about this information while watching the premier episode of Pusty’s Mailbag where, apparently, he’s taking time out of his day to host a show where the festering giant reads your letters. Watch the clip below as it may contain clues to the future endeavors of GWAR, including this year’s highly anticipated GWAR B-Q, set for August 20, 2016 in Richmond, VA.”

Apocalyptica Re-Releasing Debut Album With Four Bonus Tracks

“Plays Metallica by Four Cellos,” probably Apocalyptica’s most important album to date, was released exactly two decades ago today. Naturally, the seminal album was out in Finland first, however, over the course of 18 months many countries followed, leading to more than 1.3 million records sold.

To celebrate the album appropriately, Apocalyptica went back to the studio and fully remastered the original album. Of course the band couldn’t do without recording a few more Metallica songs to refine the anniversary edition further.

This upcoming new edition of “Plays Metallica by Four Cellos” contains three bonus tracks: the band’s all-time favorite “Battery.” live fan favorite and never before recorded “Seek and Destroy” as well as a brand-new version of the unparalleled “Nothing Else Matters.”

The fully remastered anniversary album will be out July 22 and will be available on CD, double vinyl, and digital download. Pre-orders are up now at this location.

Zealotry Announces “The Last Witness” Album Release

Lavadome Productions has announced the addition of Boston-based death metal unit Zealotry to its roster. The label has set an April 22nd release for the band’s sophomore album, “The Last Witness.” Lavadome comments:

“An album that hits on all fronts with a progressive, yet schooled brand of death metal mastery, ‘The Last Witness’ is carved from the same flesh as some of the genre’s most important releases. Zealotry is a band that walks its own path, one that’s paved by a desire to push death metal to new levels, while staying true to the genre’s traditional elements.

“‘The Last Witness’ brings to life a series of massive and unsurpassable musical movements dense and complex enough to require repeated listens. The album tells the story of humanity’s end, as imagined by Arthur C. Clarke (among others). It speaks of our species’ forced ascension and assimilation, compelled by the unseen, unknowable mind that tends to the cosmic clockwork and has decided the fates of countless other races.

“Lavadome is proud to present such irreversible art which stands out above the norm instead of following it in hopes there are still ears out here, thirsty to listen on repeat and slowly uncovering the mesmerizing scales of the nature presented by ‘The Last Witness.'”

1. Arc of Eradication
2. Heralding the Black Apostle
3. Cybernetic Eucharist
4. Progeny Omega
5. Mutagenesis
6. Yliaster
7. The Last Witness
8. Silence

The Dillinger Escape Plan Working On New Album

If you loved the holy living shit out of “One Of Us Is The Killer” (reviewed here) like we did (managing to make the runner-up spot for album of the year in our 2013 metal awards), you’ll be pleased to know The Dillinger Escape Plan is well into the process of working on a new album.

Some info has now finally leaked through an interview with Ben Weinman conducted by TheRockPit.net. Excerpts from the interview follow.

TheRockPit: It’s been about 2 years since the last album so are you guys maybe thinking of doing the next one?

Ben: Yeah we’re already writing! We’re well onto a new record and the writing process and we’re going into the studio around November so we’re already getting it going.

TheRockPit: So I guess with the success of the last album, do you feel any kind of pressure to maybe outdo that one?

Ben: I don’t think we really try to think about it too much, we just start moving and start making stuff. It’s like just take what you got and get to work and at some point you just got to write the first riff and not look back. We just want to make sure it always moves us, We’re proud of pretty much every single thing we ever put out. We’ve always put 110% into it and we’ve always been the kind of band where some of our music may seem clever but that’s not the most important part. The most important part is that it has emotion and energy so I like to think what differentiates us from some of the technical bands is that everything we do has to feel like it can’t just be interesting, it actually has to move us. We have to be able to picture us playing it live and feeling it and so the carthartic nature of our music is the most important thing. So with that in mind it’s not about beating something or topping it, it’s about maintaining that level of emotion and really feeling or believing that we’re creating something honest. And that’s the challenge, we have to be in the right state of mind to do it, we can’t just force it.

TheRockPit: How is the writing process for writing new music? Especially for you as the guitar player, how do you come up with ideas and is it a very collaborative effort with the whole band or do you do your own thing and then come together later on?

Ben: It’s not that collaborative, I’ve pretty much been the main songwriter from day one and I’m the only original member in the band so it’s great to have some of these guys add their perspective and their flavour to it but still have the consistency of the original vision that went into the band. I think that makes it interesting. Typically myself and our drummer work and create pretty complex demos before anyone else hears it and then we send it to the guys and they work on it, work on their parts and it’s really cool especially to hear Greg (Puciato) our singer to come back and hear his take on it. I think the good thing about him not being part of the process until it’s almost done is that he hears it like a fan, it hits him exactly how we intended it to hit somebody. To be able to be moved by it and create based on that inspiration and influence and I hear it back almost fresh where it’s got a whole new level and layer to it, it’s a pretty exciting process to be honest with you.

Riverside Working On New Album “Love, Fear and the Time Machine”

Following up on 2013’s “Shrine of New Generation Slaves” release, Polish prog band Riverside is now working on a new studio album, to be released August/September 2015 via InsideOutMusic.

Riverside just finished composing all material and announced “Love, Fear and the Time Machine” as the title of the new album.

“Our sixth album, six words in the title, sixty minutes of new music, that’s about how long the new release will be. And we won’t be playing hard rock any more”, Mariusz Duda laughs. “There will be many more melodies dressed in completely different shades. We’re changing and evolving as a band, we’re growing up but most of all we want to keep recording different albums which are simply great to listen to. And the new one will be like a deep breath of fresh air, very different to what we’d done before.

“Love, fear and the times that have shaped us have the biggest influence on our life choices. The lyrics will be about everything that pushes us to make the most important decisions in our life.”

The band is going to start recording the new material in March and it will be possible to follow the progress at Instagram here.

Some of the new songs will already be played at this year’s summer festivals. Here is an overview of all upcoming Riverside festival appearances announced so far for 2015:
