Saosin’s Beau Burchell Hosting Nail The Mix Session

Saosin enhanced a subgenre that continues to resonate and evolve throughout time. With multiple Billboard Top 40 charting releases under the band’s belt and the release of 2016’s “Along The Shadow” featuring the return of original vocalist Anthony Green, Saosin continue to raise the bar.

Nail The Mix is pleased to host Saosin guitarist, producer, and engineer Beau Burchell as May 2017’s guest mixer. Walking the line between musician and producer can be a hefty balance, but Burchell has excelled at both – producing, engineering and/or mastering albums by the likes of Emery, Underoath, It Prevails and of course, Saosin.

This month, Burchell will dissect his striking mix of the band’s recent hit track, “The Silver String,” cut from latest album, “Along The Shadow.”

Beau Burchell will lead an exclusive livestreaming class offering a complete walkthrough of how he mixed “The Silver String/” NTM subscribers can download the multi-tracks today, then join Burchell for the livestream on May 28th. NTM will also host a Q&A chat with Burchell on May 15th at 2:00pm ET, exclusively available to subscribers.

Burchell says, “I’m very happy to join Nail The Mix to explain every aspect of the mixing process for Saosin’s ‘The Silver String.’ I’m fascinated with music and not only how to create and manipulate it, but why. So, to be part of something like this as an educator and fully exposed is an honor and very exciting.

“I’m excited to get into the details of how I worked on this record specifically. For instance, this was the first record I produced that was entirely amp simulators for the sake of portability and consistency between recording sessions and environments. Also, I don’t think we stopped adding guitars to this song until we printed the final mix. Obviously not an ideal situation… but regardless, you’ll learn more by joining Nail The Mix this month!”

NTM’s Eyal Levi adds, “There are originators, and there are followers. No in between. Like most of the Nail The Mix catalog, Saosin fall firmly into the first category. Not only that, but they have one of the greatest rock n’ roll singers of all time, Mr. Anthony Green. That’s why I’m proud to announce that the month of May 2017, Saosin with guitarist/producer/mixer Beau Burchell will be featured on Nail The Mix. Come learn how it’s done from the non-disputed creators of post-hardcore.”

Barrows Teases New Album “Obsidion”

Barrows just issued a trailer from the impending “Obsidion” LP — including the first bits of audio from the expansive, conceptual album, as well as the immersive artwork — as Tonzonen Records prepares the 2xLP for its late May release.

The band has also announced the lineups for a month-long live residency at The Echo in Los Angeles for the month of May. Barrows comments: “When we create albums it is much like making a movie for us. Each album is a specific world that we are exploring and none of our albums are interconnected in any way. The new record follows the journey of a man who is taken from Earth and brought to ‘Obsidion.'”

New album “Obsidion” was written and performed by Jim Leonard and Richy Epolito, recorded and mixed by Sean Foye, Jim Leonard, and Richy Epolito. The album was mastered by Eroc from Grobschnitt and features starkly abstract artwork and photography by Alexandre Souêtre. The album will be released May 26th, digitally through the band, and on deluxe 2xLP via Tonzonen Records.
