Iron Maiden Announces “Legacy Of The Beast” World Tour Dates

British heavy metal icons Iron Maiden has announced a series of headline shows in both North and South America for the Summer of 2019 as part of their “Legacy Of The Beast” tour. Support on the trek will come from The Raven Age, featuring George Harris (son of Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris,) while additional support at the Los Angeles show will come from Fozzy.

Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson comments: “We’re excited to return to North America and share the Legacy Of The Beast Tour with all our friends there! We’re immensely proud of this show and we’ve had great reactions from the many fans who came to see us in Europe earlier this year. The production is based on our mobile game The Legacy Of The Beast which basically takes various incarnations of Eddie into many different Maiden Worlds. This inspired us to put together a stage show to take our fans through different Worlds and experiences set to appropriate songs. It is not that easy designing different Worlds on stage and we put a huge amount of work into this to make it work and the end result we feel is our most spectacular and certainly the most complex show to date.

“We’ve got all kinds of crazy things going on, including a replica Spitfire plane dominating the stage during ‘Aces High,’ tons of pyro, a giant Icarus, muskets, claymores and some truly marvellous flame-throwers which I have a hell of a lot of fun with, as you will see! And of course we have Eddie, as you’ve never seen him before, and absolutely loads of other surprises. I’ve had the time of my life playing with all these magnificent props on stage, it’s been fantastic, we can’t wait to bring this show to you!”

Steve Harris, bassist and founder member adds: “We gave a lot of thought to the set list for this Tour as the songs needed to follow the narrative of the changing worlds of the stage show. We feel we ended up with a very strong and well balanced set mixing songs we haven’t played in many years like ‘Flight Of Icarus,’ ‘Sign Of The Cross’ and ‘The Clansman’ with songs we know the fans want to hear like ‘The Trooper,’ ‘2 Minutes To Midnight,’ ‘The Number Of The Beast,’ ‘Fear Of The Dark,’ ‘Run To The Hills,’ ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’ and others, reflecting the journey through the different themes of the show. The whole band is really enjoying this tour and we are really looking forward to seeing everybody again!”

Sanctuary And Former Nevermore Vocalist Warrel Dane Dead At 48

Warrel Dane, the lead singer of Sanctuary and Nevermore, has passed away at the age of only 48 after suffering a heart attack during the night. He was on tour in Brazil, where guitarist told UOL;

“He died in the night. He had a heart attack. He was in the apartment where he stayed during the recording of the album when it happened. I gave him cardiac massage and we called the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU), who came very fast, but when they arrived, he was already dead.”

The singer first came to prominence with Sanctuary, with whom he released two studio albums, before forming Nevermore, which achieved considerable commercial success. After Nevermore folded, he revived Sanctuary and the band released a third album, “The Year The Sun Died” in 2014, with a fourth record, “Inception” following only this year. He will be greatly missed.

Nightwish Announces Compilation Album, “Decades” And Tour Dates

Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish has announced details for a new two disc compilation album, which will be entitled, “Decades.” The record will be released on March 9th 2018 and will be promoted with a lengthy tour of North America and Europe, which includes a number of festival appearances, concluding with a headline set at the Bloodstock Open Air festival.

“July 6th, 1996 was the exact date marked on my family’s summer cabin guestbook. On that date, by a campfire, a decision was made to form a band of three members, playing atmospheric acoustic music led by a female voice. 15 months later, this group would release its debut album, and more than two decades later, it would release a compilation including songs from 8 studio albums and from the very first demo which gave the band its name.

Speaking about the release, keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen stated: “The infinite freedom and potential I found from songwriting back in the day took me right back home, offering a place to feel free and meaningful. So the roller coaster ride begun, adventures from all sides of the spectrum ahead, making a pit stop at this place and age from where we`re greeting you now. Looking back, the voyage has been nothing short of spectacular.

“The best part of it all, though, are the people. The fellowship of the band, past and present, the crew and the management. The relationships created, whether it’s the fans in the front row, guest musicians, other bands, promoters, media, record label staff, or even your own heroes you never thought you’d meet. I’ve met my best friends through music, as well as faced the most unfortunate ordeals, but it’s all been for the love of life and adventure, for learning, and for a meaning. The sense of privilege I feel looking into the past, the present, and future is immeasurable by words. It’s something that can only be expressed through poetry and music. A journey of two decades has taken our wonderful Edema Ruh this far, and the beauty of the future is, that it remains an untold story.

“In a few months, we’ll celebrate the journey so far in the form of a 9-month nostalgia tour, including material from all of our 8 studio albums. We shall meet you all soon, and it will be wondrous as never before!”

Amon Amarth Reveal Own Mobile Video Game “Amon Amarth”

Amon Amarth have released their own mobile video game titled ‘Amon Amarth‘. The game is available now through the this location. The retro themed video game was developed in partnership with Ride & Crash Games AB.

Watch the trailer for it below.

“The Game. You are Thor and your mission is simple: cleanse Midgard from all of the vile creatures that are threatening the (*ahem*) peaceful Viking way of life. There are three keys to ensure your success:

(1) your hammer, Mjolnir;
(2) your control of the freakin’ thunder and lightning!
(3) your fighting spirit is always high thanks to Amon Amarth‘s epic music in retro style blasting from over the horizons and into your ears.

The unique game features four worlds, four epic battles, 12 unique levels and 13 different Amon Amarth tracks with retro video game sounds!

The game is available worldwide to the public for iOS and Android Phones and Tablets for a retail price of $8.99. This link redirects the mobile or tablet user to their correct App Store:

The idea for the game was conceived in the fall of 2015 when Robert Chirico Willstedt, a video game producer in Stockholm and founder of Ride & Crash Games AB, met Amon Amarth. Robert and the band bonded over epic amounts of beer and a common love of video games, and they started discussing how cool it would be if they could create a video game for Amon Amarth.

There and then, the idea was born of a retro style Viking platformer with Amon Amarth music in ’80s sounding square wave format. Robert hand-picked a team of developers and designers to realize the game concept. The band met the development team continuously during the development process to ensure the end product would stay true to the initial vision of the game. This is an authentic Amon Amarth product.

Grab Mjolnir. Blast Amon Amarth. Save Midgard.”
