New EP “Ashes” Announced By Sinsaenum

Sinsaenum and earMUSIC are pleased to announce the release of “Ashes,” the brand new EP by Frédéric Leclercq (DragonForce) and Joey Jordison’s (ex-Slipknot) extreme death metal project.

Sinsaenum’s current LP “Echoes of the Tortured,” which has been nominated as “Best Debut” by Metal Hammer Germany, is an album that has been praised worldwide as one of the freshest and finest approaches to death metal. Following the 2016 release of the band’s celebrated debut, Sinsaenum now go beyond and have truly reached the next level.

“Ashes” will be released on November 10th via earMUSIC. It is available for pre-order via Amazon and iTunes. The EP contains over 30 minutes of mind-blowing music, featuring three brand new and EP-exclusive songs, which all display Sinsaenum’s love for the roots of death metal and extreme music.

Additionally, two previously exclusive Japanese bonus tracks can finally be enjoyed by the rest of the world. To top it all off, renowned French producer and musician Frederic Duquesne (Mass Hysteria, guitar) has provided a remix for “Dead Souls.”

The cover artwork (shown below) was drawn by Maxime Taccardi, a dark, twisted artist who managed to capture the essence of Sinsaenum’s music.

“‘Ashes’ is showing a more mature version of our music, and also an angrier side,” said Leclercq. “A lot angrier. We wanted the production to be rawer. Nothing is polite here. We just want to grab the listeners by the throat and spit our hatred into their face. With this EP, we took things further. The black metal vibe is more present in the three new songs, as are the synths; they reinforce the eerie side of our music. Experimenting with keys and machine is not something we are afraid of. Musical darkness can come in many ways.”

With these impressive credentials, it is hard not to label Sinsaenum a “supergroup,” since the project embodies the joint venture of Fred Leclercq of Dragonforce and Joey Jordison (VIMIC, former Slipknot drummer). The rest of the band is of no less importance and credibility: Attila Csihar (Mayhem, vocals), Sean Zatorsky (Dååth, vocals), Seth Heimoth (bass), and Stephane Buriez (Loudblast, guitar) – all of which are well respected in their fields – complete the ensemble, making Sinsaenum premium-level heavy metal.

The track listing is:

1. “Ashes”
2. “Monarch of Death”
3. “2099 (Heretics)”
4. “Degeneration”*
5. “King of the Desperate Lands”*
6. “Dead Souls”**
* Previously Japanese Bonus Only
** Frédéric Duquesne remix

Devin Townsend Project Posts “Offer Your Light” Video

The Devin Townsend Project has been on the road for the majority of 2017 supporting latest album “Transcendence.” Recently Devin was in attendance at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods ceremony in London, where he was given the “Riff Lord” award, which has been previously bestowed upon the likes of Dave Mustaine, Brian May, and Phil Campbell.

In response to being recognized and given such a high honor, Devin offered the following statement: “Hey all! Well heck, I guess I won an award for being a guitar guy…sweet! All those years of social ineptitude has manifested in an ability to play 32nd notes. Take that, dad! …to celebrate, we are doing a ‘lyric video’ for a track I had been encouraged to release when the album first came out, but decided to go with another one instead.

“As it turns out, people seem to really like this song, so have at ‘er! Here’s a kind of rockin’, kind of straightforward track from Transcendence called ‘Offer Your Light’, written essentially about trying to look at the positive amidst the ever increasing sea of neurosis-inducing bullshit the world keeps spewing at us. I’m in the beginning stages of writing new music now, and I hope this finds a home in your listening world for the next 4 minutes or so…best part is; there’s no guitar solo!”

Turncoat Releases “American Dream” Music Video

Michigan hardcore outfit Turncoat just released a new music video for latest single “American Dream.” The video has a 90’s home video-like vibe of the band’s home town showing raw footage from the Detroit area.

This single comes by way of the group’s Eulogy Recordings, 2016 self-titled EP and was recently selected to be on Metal Hammer’s New Noise compilation album. Guitarist Keith Keister comments:

“‘American Dream’ is groovy, fast paced, straight forward example of exactly what we’re trying to convey as a band. Off our Eulogy Records debut EP, it’s definitely one of my favorites live and on the recording. This video gives a simple 90s-ish home video vibe and show cases some of the places we drive by, live near or see in our everyday life in Michigan and shows us in a very raw and back to basics perspective.”

Artillery streams new album, ‘Penalty by Perception’, via NewNoiseMagazine.com

– March 22nd, 2016 –

Danish power thrash metallers Artillery will release their new full-length, Penalty By Perception, this Friday (March 25th) via Metal Blade Records worldwide. To give fans a preview of the album, the band is now streaming Penalty By Perception in its entirety – alongside an exclusive interview! – at newnoisemagazine.com

To pre-order the record in various formats, please visit: metalblade.com/artillery

Written over the course of the last two years, Artillery‘s eighth full-length draws from their classic albums like Fear of Tomorrow (1985) and By Inheritance (1990), as well as When Death Comes (2009) and Legions (2013). Having recorded at Medley Studios and bringing Soren Andersen on board as the producer, Artillery achieved the sound that they were aiming for: “We worked really hard together to get this amazing sound. I feel the band have come up with some great songs,” asserts guitarist Michael Stutzer. “The best musical performance in the history of Artillery. Can’t wait to hear the fans’ reactions!”

A familiar, yet modern thrash attack, Penalty By Perception delivers the band’s signature riffing, with powerful drumming and melodic singing – and promises to be a new fan favorite in the Danish quintet’s storied career! See below for some acclaimed reviews of the album:

“A logical follow up to 2013′s engaging ‘Legions‘, ‘Penalty by Perception‘ proves Artillery‘s firm grip on a semi-technically advanced brand of thrash puts them in an elite but probable cult niche – which will be cool enough for those who want more musical bite and sophistication to appreciate.”DeadRhetoric.com (USA)

“For me, this is the best Artillery album so far. Thrash bands with proper (considering the classic metal template) singers are few and far between, after all!”Metal Hammer (Germany)

“Hardly any other band is able to blend savage, driving and pumping thrash beats with speed elements and traditional metal melodies to catchy, ball-breaking songs. A strong record through and through!”Deaf Forever (Germany)

Penalty By Perception track-listing:
1. In Defiance Of Conformity
2. Live By The Scythe
3. Penalty By Perception
4. Mercy Of Ignorance
5. Rites Of War
6. Sin Of Innocence
7. When The Magic Is Gone
8. Cosmic Brain
9. Deity Machine
10. Path Of The Atheist
11. Welcome To The Mind Factory
