Sun Of Gaia Posts “Peril” Video Single

Adelaide-based progressive death metal group Sun of Gaia just launched a new video single for “Peril,” which can be seen below. The band comments:

“The new single ‘Peril’ differs from our previous EP ‘Corrode’ in the sense that it embraces more progressive elements through the use of clean, ambient sections, clean vocals and places a much greater emphasis on the role of keyboards and piano elements in our music. It still retains some of the heaviness and melodic death metal style of ‘Corrode,’ but overall it offers a more refined, mature and musically confident insight into who we are as a band today.

“We intended for the new single to act as a kind of ‘bridge’ between our sound on the ‘Corrode’ EP and how our next release will sound. It retains the heavier, metal elements that fans of ‘Corrode’ will recognize and enjoy, but listeners can expect to hear many more progressive elements on future releases that we think are previewed quite nicely in ‘Peril.'”

Negura Bunget Releasing New Album “Tau”

Prophecy Productions has announced March 3rd as the North American release date for Negura Bunget’s new album, “Tau.” The label comments:

“With Tau, these Romanian folk/black metal pioneers not only present the long-awaited successor to 2010’s Virstele Pamintului, but also their first album for Lupus Lounge / Prophecy Productions with genuinely new song material.

“Tau also marks the beginning of Negura Bunget’s ambitious ‘Transilvanian Trilogy,’ a sonic and visual tribute to the band’s home country. While this first part highlights Romanian nature, parts two and three will deal with man, his traditions and practices as well as spiritual elements.

“On Tau, each of the eight songs represents a specific natural landscape with its unique atmosphere and mystique, its legends and meanings. Musically, Negura Bunget stick to their familiar range of sounds with both primal, harsh black metal elements and their meditative, folkloristic counterparts.

“Adding to their ever-wide array of instruments, Negura Bunget add a trumpet and other brass for the first time ever, all of which enhance the group’s aural scope in an original way. Highlighting its distinctive character, the album boasts guest appearances by illustrious musicians such as Rune Eriksen (ex-Mayhem; guitars on ‘Impodobeala Timpului’) and Sakis Tolis (Rotting Christ; vocals on ‘Tarim Vilhovnicesc’).”

Slave Zero To Release New EP “Disambiguated Visionary”

Slave Zero is back with new EP “Disambiguated Visionary,” due out November 10th, 2013. What can we expect from the fifth offering from the Dublin act and follow-up to 2009’s “Exempt from all Tolerance?”

“Heavy, unrelenting and unpredictable,” says vocalist Graeme V. Flynn. Focusing on more progressive and death metal elements than its predecessors, “Disambiguated Visionary” is intended to “provoke thought and question the confines of what we see and perceive as humans alluding to our insignificance as qualified through scientific theories.”

The album was recorded by the band’s own Ben Wanders at Nebula Studios, Galway and features artwork by Paul McCarroll of Unhinged Art. Representing a futuristic humanoid, Graeme furthers, “who’s to say what the world will look like in 1,000 years or 5,000 years? If humankind ever manages to colonize parts of our solar system or beyond, the body will need to adapt to living in those conditions. The figure on the cover could potentially resemble a humanoid from that era. Humankind in our current form is not the peak of our evolutionary climb.”

The track listing is as follows:

1. Mathematically Legitimate Solution
2. Limitless Peripheral Perspective
3. Embroidered Strategy Of Calculated Misrepresent
4. Oscillating Perceptions Of An Abstract Existence
5. Anthropic Landscape Theory
