Killing The Messenger Signs With EMP Underground

David Ellefson’s EMP Label Group expanded their roster today to include Southern California metalcore staples Killing The Messenger, who will join the newly revealed EMP Underground imprint.

In March, Killing The Messenger released first single in over a year titled “Fuel To The Fire” on all major digital platforms, serving as the first glimpse of an upcoming full-length album of the same name being released on July 22nd. “Fuel To The Fire” follows previous self-released debut album “What Matters Most.”

“We wanted to find a balance between continuity and progression. We never wanted to change our sound, but achieving that and also creating something new isn’t an easy task! We feel we hit the nail on the head with this album,” says band frontman and founder Ahren Gray. “We couldn’t have dreamt of what this album has become. So many hours have gone into writing, rewriting and collaborating on these songs and I’m truly proud of what we’ve produced. The heavy, the soft, the deep and complex, we tried to encapsulate it all to give the listener a truly memorable experience.”

Allegaeon confirms December headlining tour

– November 13th, 2013 –

Colorado natives, Allegaeon, will be giving fans one last chance to see them live before they return to the studio to record their third full-length album. The tour is schedule to begin on December 1st and concludes on December 21st, with dates throughout Texas, the west coast, and the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, Allegaeon is happy to announce that guitarist Michael Stancel will be joining the band full time! While in writing mode, Stancel, and Allegaeon have been collaborating on new songs, with exceptional results.

Allegaeon vocalist Ezra Haynes comments on the addition of Stancel to the lineup:
“I’m more than pleased with some of the big changes happening in the Allegaeon camp. We’ll be hitting the road this December with our newest addition to the Allegaeon family, Michael Stancel. He filled in for the recently departed Ryan Glisan on our last tour and within just a few shows we knew he was our guy. He has a great head on his shoulders, shares the same interest in the dumb pop music we listen to, shreds like a beast and is ONLY 19 years old! We look forward to forging a great relationship with Michael and can’t wait for the rest of the world to hear the final product.”

Guitarist Greg Burgess comments on the upcoming shows: “Allegaeon is incredibly excited to be heading back out on the road this December with “Silence The Messenger.” The Pacific North West has always seemed to escape our tour routing in the past, and it has been on our to do list to correct this. This tour throughout Texas, the south west and up through the north will be last shows for Allegaeon on the “Formshifter” album cycle. Which means it’s your last chance to see us playing some of these tunes! Filling in on the drums for the tour will be our friend and Sick Drummer Brandon Park.”

Earlier this year, guitarist Greg Burgess and bassist Corey Archuleta showed fans how they play “Secrets of the Sequence,” the epic closing track to their latest album, “Formshifter.” The video is streaming now at metalblade.com/allegaeon.

Allegaeon’s second full-length album, Formshifter, significantly surpassed its predecessor and debuted at #29 on the Billboard New Artist Chart and #99 on the Top Hard Music Albums Chart. This is a huge achievement for the band as they continue to carve out their foothold within the metal community. Formshifter has been incredibly well received by press worldwide; the UK’s Kerrang Magazine raves in a 4/5 review: “It’s not just the magnificently blended barrage of monstrous riffs and insidious hooks. Nor is it solely due to the fact it sounds like the quartet are trying to bring the sky crashing down on your head. And it’s not just the wealth of complex leads that will make many guitarists petulantly sulk in the corner after a single exposure. It’s all of those elements – combined with great songwriting that makes the record truly special.”

Select “Formshifter” accolades:
“But the members of Allegaeon are so monstrously talented—see the entwined guitar harmonics, machine-gun drumming, and even the occasional, not insufferably acoustic interlude on the group’s heavily NWOBHM-shaded second LP, Formshifter—that they dig their way out of the doldrums of mere proficiency.” AVClub.com

“The huge walls of crushing low tuned chugging and burning shred passages are awesome, but ultimately it’s the band’s ability of being able to really put together catchy heavy tracks that sets them above the rest of the pack.” About.com

Formshifter is a bewilderingly powerful album that is an essential of the year.” NoCleanSinging.com

“one of the landmark releases in melodic death metal in 2012…fans of pure metal that is both ambitious and true to its roots need this record in their lives. Now.” 10/10, Outburn Magazine
