GWAR Issues State Of The Union, Posts New Song “El Presidente”

The countdown is on as GWAR gets ready to release bone-crushing, corpse-grinding new opus “The Blood of Gods” on October 20th via Metal Blade Records.

As the world continues hurtling through space towards a great conflagration of death and destruction, your alien overlords have dropped “El Presidente,” the second single from the album. Hopefully this will speed things along! Additionally, Beefcake the Mighty has issued a brief “State Of The GWAR Union” address.

Concerning the album, “The Blood of Gods” chronicles the rise of human beings against their makers, and the massive battle between GWAR and the forces of all that oppose them. Along the way, the band challenges the sins of humanity from politics, pollution, and organized religion, to fast food, and factory farming. Humans are shown as what they are; a parasitic disease that must be eradicated before they suck the planet dry!

Opeth Streaming New Song “The Wilde Flowers”

Sweden’s Opeth just premiered a new song called “The Wilde Flowers” online, featured on the band’s 12th studio album “Sorceress” (reviewed here), which is scheduled for release on September 30th.

Speaking with Metal Hammer, vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt says “This was the first song I wrote for this album. It’s kind of an Opeth standard, in a way, like from the last two albums. It’s very dynamic. It has a chorus, I guess.

“Then there’s a big Queen-sounding bit in the middle just before this massive solo… oh, and harps! They’re hidden in the mix but they’re there. The title comes from the band Caravan – they were originally called Wilde Flowers. I always liked those weird spellings.”

“Sorceress” features the following track listing:

1. Persephone
2. Sorceress (song streaming here)
3. The Wilde Flowers
4. Will O The Wisp (listen in here)
5. Chrysalis
6. Sorceress 2
7. The Seventh Sojourn
8. Strange Brew
9. A Fleeting Glance
10. Era
11. Persephone (Slight Return)

Gaerea Teasing New Song

Black metal outfit Gaerea premieres a new song teaser-clip. We don’t know anything about who is in the band or where they are from. And we don’t know what this is a teaser for. Only thing we do have is this statement from the band, which is lifted from their Facebook page:

“Let’s make one thing clear. We need to stress the fact that our era is lost in a huge void of numbness. We are here to bring and present you what your system could not solve by itself. We’ll cover the daylight with ashes and smash the massive skull that’s blocking your brain and will to evolve. We’re GAEREA.”

Check it out now below.
