Nothing More Tackle Disturbing Trend Of Mass Shootings In “Let ‘Em Burn” Video

Nothing More premiere a new music video for their song “Let ‘Em Burn” taken from their latest effort, “The Stories We Tell Ourselves“. The video takes on the disturbing trend of mass shootings in the U.S..

Comments Nothing More:

“Hundreds of people have been killed in mass shootings over the past several years. Almost everyone has chosen the red team or the blue team and we’re stuck in this mode where we fight over political problems instead of human solutions.

More guns or less guns isn’t the question. The real question is, why are we killing each other?”

Adds the band’s frontman Johnny Hawkins:

“The ‘villain and victim’ narrative in media is so seared into our brains that we can’t see straight. The media has become our God and we have become its bitch.

We are blind to human solutions because our emotions have been glued to political problems, and it has paralyzed our progress.

Most of us know that mental health is the cause of mass shootings, yet we are obsessed with talking about the symptoms and gridlocking ourselves in political battles without proper action.

It’s time to find solutions… it’s time to focus on mental health.”

Gruesome Debut New NSFW Music Video For “Fatal Illusions”

Gruesome debut another new music video, the latest being more of a statement against mass shootings. The video is for their song “Fatal Illusions”. June 01st stands as the release date for the group’s new effort, “Twisted Prayers“, through Relapse Records.

Comments the band’s vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey (also of Exhumed) of the NSFW clip:

“‘Fatal Illusions‘ is a track that was truly co-written by Dan, Gus and myself musically and it was a lot of fun to arrange everyone’s riffs while we put the song together. One of the coolest things about this new record, for me personally, is that the writing has become more and more of a team effort, which is invigorating and keeps things interesting for us.

When looking at ‘Spiritual Healing‘ for inspiration, one of the more depressing realizations that I came to as far as the lyrics, was that many of the topics that Death were addressing back in 1990 are still major issues today. As everyone knows, mass shootings have reached epidemic proportions in this country and we felt that it was a very ‘death metal’ appropriate topic to tackle.

This tune is more about the delusions that lead someone to commit this kind of violence; the mindset that would make someone take such a drastic and tragic course of action. Before anyone starts projecting their own politics on the song, this is not an anti or pro-gun song. This is an anti-mass shooting song. And if you think that there’s anything controversial about that, you can fuck right off.”
