Last week, symphonic death metal collective MaYaN released the official video for the title track of their forthcoming album,”Dhyana.” Today, vocalist Marcela Bovio spills the beans on filming the video and how the girls all got eaten alive by mosquitos during the shoot. You can check it out, as well as the “Dhyana” video below.

Ayreon Performing “The Human Equation Theater Experience”

Nearly 6000 Ayreon fans from 49 different countries will flock to Rotterdam (NL) this September to witness the once-in-a-lifetime theater production “The Theater Equation” based on Ayreon’s “The Human Equation.”

The album’s original vocalists James LaBrie, Devon Graves, Heather Findlay, Eric Clayton, Marcela Bovio, Magnus Ekwall and Irene Jansen will reprise their roles on the 18th, 19th and 20th of September in the nieuwe Luxor theater. Rounding out the cast are Ayreon veterans Wudstik, Anneke van Giersbergen and Mike Mills.

For years, fans of Arjen Anthony Lucassen’s rock operas have begged for a live performance. The creative team of Shadow Freaks, a theater production company lead by Lucassen’s former manager Yvette Boertje, now answers that call by staging a fan favorite; “The Human Equation.”

“The Human Equation” tells the story of comatose man who battles his emotions that have come to life in a frightening and bizarre world: his own mind. After a 20-day emotional rollercoaster ride filled with good and bad memories, shocking revelations and hope-filled desires, the man has to make a decision: wake up or die?

Dutch Metal Artists Collaborate For “The Power Of Love” Charity Single

The Power of Love is a Dutch metal collaboration for the Red Cross, a very special large-scale collaboration between Netherlands-based metal artists to help gather donations and bring aid to victims of sexual abuse in conflict territories, featuring (amongst others) Floor Jansen, Simone Simons, Mark Jansen, Charlotte Wessels, Arjen Lucassen, and Ruud Jolie.

The Power Of Love comes on the occasion of 3FM’s Serious Request 2014 – a massive Dutch charity event that is organised every year by one of Netherland’s biggest radio stations.

From December 8th onward, fans will be able to give a donation and download a heavy cover of “The Power of Love,” originally performed by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, at this location. The lineup includes:

Name Of Sophomore LP And Guest Musicians Revealed For New MaYaN Album

Symphonic extreme metal act MaYaN, featuring Mark Jansen, Rob van der Loo and Arien van Weesenbeek of Epica, has unveiled the title and release date for the upcoming sophomore LP. The album will be called “Antagonise,” and is scheduled for release on January 31, 2014 via Nuclear Blast Records. Guest stars have also been announced.

The announcement came via Facebook and reads: “The new album is called ‘Antagonise.’ ‘It’s dealing about the current state of the world in which a small group of elites have all the power and try to dominate humanity. The tension is rising and the outcome yet unknown.’

“The album will feature 11 tracks and will be released on January 31st, 2014 via Nuclear Blast. The album was recorded at ‘Sandlane’ studio, along with producer Joost van der Broek (ReVamp/Stream of Passion).

“Guests on ‘Antagonise’ are: Floor Jansen (Nightwish/ReVamp), Marcela Bovio (Stream of Passion) and the Greek virtuozo violinist Dimitris Katsoulis. Henning Basse (Lingua Mortis Orchestra) and Laura Macri have joined MaYaN as permanent members.
