Manowar Tap Guitarist E.V. Martel For Upcoming Tour

Guitarist E.V. Martel has been tapped for Manowar’s forthcoming “Final Battle” 2019 world tour. Martel will fill in for longtime guitarist Karl Logan, who will not be touring with the band after being arrested on charges of possessing child pornography.

E.V. Martel has performed for years in the only official Manowar tribute band in the world.

Tells bassist Joey DeMaio: “I can think of no one more deserving to play with Manowar than a fan themselves; one who has dedicated their entire life to our fans and our music and who he has proven to be a true Manowarrior!”

Adds E.V. Martel:

“I am honored beyond words to play for the greatest fans in the world! I live by Manowar’s message every day of my life: Believe in yourself and even your wildest dreams can come true!”

Manowar Guitarist Karl Logan To Miss Upcoming Tour After Arrest

Following the news reported yesterday that Manowar guitarist Karl Logan was arrested and charged with six counts of third degree exploitation of a minor, Manowar’s management has posted a statement online confirming that the guitarist will not be taking part in the band’s upcoming tour. Magic Circle Entertainment stated:

“With regard to Karl Logan’s arrest and the charges against him: Due to the fact that Karl and his attorneys are dealing with these issues, he will not perform with Manowar. The new album and upcoming tour will not be affected.”

There has been no word yet on who will replace Logan on the upcoming tour dates and potentially the recording of the next album, but former guitarist David Shankle posted a lengthy statement on Facebook claiming he would be delighted to return to the fold:

“After thinking a lot, I consider appropriate to put together some words about the unfortunate events that have happened recently with Karl, which are of public knowledge and I will not repeat here, I just want to emphasize that I believe in the justice of my beloved country and I am sure that the truth will come to light very soon. Meanwhile, I want to thank you all for the innumerable messages I am receiving, for that reason, as I said before, I consider important to say a few words…

“For those who do not know, I joined Manowar back in 1988 after overcoming a casting from around 150 guitar players, I can proudly tell you that I was present during the mix of the iconic Kings Of Metal and I had the privilege of doing the tour to present the album. As everyone knows, I did not intervened in the composition of such a great album.

“Situation that changed on the double platinum awared “The Triumph Of Steel”, where I composed approximately half of the material, I always thought about the sequel to that album, both me and all the fans always imagined what the second part would be like … well. ..the truth is that the second part is already composed and is now being recorded together with my brothers of FEANOR, along with them, I have forged 10 songs of roaring steel, including THE ODYSSEY in 7 parts, an epic song like all of you expected and waited for so long…

“Well, the wait is over !!! get ready to listen to how Achilles should have evolved, Ride The Dragon, Master Of The Wind … Now I can show you and, in fact, I will show you how was the continuation of those songs that I kept for many years. in my head.

“Today, as you can imagine, I am full of duties and responsibilities, but it is also true that I am part of the Manowar family, I always had the best relationship with Joey, Eric and all the other guys that I consider nothing less but brothers, so if Duty calls my door, I will be happy to be present my weapons once again. As always I will give the best of me, 100%, as I did in Manowar and as I currently do in FEANOR, with whom I will do an extensive tour of South America in November.

“Finally, thanks once again for so much love and for so many beautiful words, I know that many of you want me back in Manowar, but the reality is that I am very excited about the record that we ended up with FEANOR and that I know. I’M SURE, all of you will enjoy greatly. I do not know what destiny has for me, I can only assure you that THE SHRED DEMON is more active than ever and very soon we will see each other again on the tour and they will be able to listen to the tremendous new songs that I have. for all of you. I love you all.”

Manowar Comments On “Kings Of Metal MMXIV” Album Artwork

Manowar recently revealed the front cover of upcoming double album “Kings Of Metal MMXIV” (available below), an evolution of the original 1988 cover by Ken Kelly.

A new painting by Ken Kelly, featured on the back of the CD, will also be revealed soon. Manowar’s Joey DeMaio comments:

“Ken has always been able to perfectly capture the essence of Manowar in his art. These covers, the two new ones and the one he created in 1988, visualize what Manowar, our music and our fans stand for! Just look at these paintings and the story they tell: People have tried to keep this warrior down, attacked him and attempted to destroy him. But he stood tall, no matter what! He fought for true metal in country after country. And he will continue the march and fight for his brothers and sisters all over the world, until all enemies of true metal have been crushed!”

“This collaboration has been an incredible experience once again,” said Ken Kelly. “We didn’t know where the journey would lead us. The art literally takes over and the music and the lyrics guide us. I truly believe the Manowar fans are going to love this series.”

“Kings of Metal MMXIV” is a completely new recording, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of “Kings Of Metal,” and is due out on February 28th, 2014 as a 2 Disc CD with two 24-page booklets.

Manowar Taps Hamilton Sterling For “Kings Of Metal MMXIV”

Following movie and theater legend Brian Blessed (“Hamlet,” “Flash Gordon”) Manowar has now teamed up with another Hollywood veteran – sound designer Hamilton Sterling – for “The Warrior’s Prayer MMXIV” fromforthcoming new album “Kings Of Metal MMXIV.”

Brian Blessed had recorded the epic narration earlier this year and called it “a brilliant piece of writing” and the collaboration with Manowar “completely miraculous and life changing.”

“Brian did a sensational job! He didn’t just narrate the story. He performed it.” said Manowar bassist and producer Joey DeMaio. “When you listen to the narration, you feel like you are watching a short Hollywood movie. We instantly knew that we had to complement Brian’s outstanding performance with sound effects of the same quality. We searched for another Hollywood heavyweight, and Mr. Hamilton Sterling was the perfect choice!”

Hollywood veteran Hamilton Sterling is a sound effects specialist with numerous credits including action blockbusters like “The Dark Knight,” “Men In Black 3,” “War Of The Worlds,” and “Master And Commander: The Far Side of the World,” two of which won Oscars for Best Sound Editing.

Sterling comments: “My friend, the Grammy Award winning Audio Engineer Rich Breen, contacted me regarding Manowar’s soundscape project The Warrior’s Prayer MMXIV. In this case, a previously recorded narrative framework was in place, spoken by the excellent actor Brian Blessed, who I had seen as a young man in Robert Graves’ I, Claudius. His evocative performance was a marvel of emotion, and its dynamic range allowed me the space to move from the most quiet and ethereal sounds to full-on battle. His imaginative performance was an excellent guide, as was Mr. DeMaio’s sense of story and direction.”

Catch the band live:

Wednesday, Mar 19, 2014 – Olymp Palace of Sports – Krasnodar, Russia
Friday, Mar 21, 2014 – Luzhniki Palace of Sports – Moscow, Russia
Sunday, March 23, 2014 – Yubileyny Sports Palace – St. Petersburg, Russia
Saturday, July 26, 2014 – Suvilahti Open Air – Helsinki, Finland

Manowar Reveals New Album "The Lord Of Steel" Details

Manowar’s new studio album, “The Lord Of Steel,” will first be released worldwide on June 16th, 2012 exclusively on iTunes and on the band’s own online store, The Kingdom Of Steel.

On the same date, Metal Hammer UK will release a special ‘Steel Edition’ of Metal Hammer #233, including the CD and a digital copy of the album. The following press release was also issued:

“The Lord Of Steel is blazing with pure power, untamed energy, and a sound as raw and wild as a force of nature. Track titles like Annihilation and Hail, Kill And Die! set the tone for a record that is packed with surprises.

“In contrast to the 2007 release Gods Of War, this new album is not a concept album, yet each song tells a different story, retaining the Manowar vision of righteousness, honor and everything Manowar fans have come to know and love.”

Manowar fans should expect to have “their heads completely blown off” said Manowar bassist Joey DeMaio in a recent interview, and explained that “…this album is all about brutality and raw power!”

The album will be mixed and mastered at Wisseloord Studios by long-time collaborators mixing engineer Ronald Prent and two-time Grammy award-winning mastering engineer Darcy Proper.

Manowar has this time tapped into the world of action heroes and their stories, writing a song specifically for the movie “El Gringo,” and another one, “Expendable,” inspired by Sylvester Stallone’s action movie franchise “The Expendables.”

Check out a trailer for “El Gringo” at this location. Upcoming Manowar headlining tour dates:
