Born Of Osiris Reveals New Album “The Simulation” Details; Posts New Video “The Accursed” Online

American metalcore outfit Born Of Osiris has announced that they will be releasing a new studio album, “The Simulation” through Sumerian Records on January 11th. In preparation for the release, the group has released a new music video for the song, “The Accursed,” which can be found below, along with the album’s artwork and tracklisting.

Lee McKinney (guitars) states: “The first single and video for ‘The Accursed’ plays exactly off of the album titles and themes. People are stuck and addicted to machines, social media, virtual realities and anything that creates a life or reality that’s not their own. Our phones have become an extension of ourselves, a body part. We play games or throw on virtual headsets that literally suck us out of the reality we live and into a fantasy. What’s the future going to look like, a simulation? Could the simulation have already begun?

“Also, this new album keeps the integrity high across the board. I want to make the best songs I could for the people who are listening (and myself), and I want to perform them to their best ability on stage to give the people attending our shows those ‘wow’ moments. We want to give them those concert memories that’ll last a lifetime.”

Joe Buras (backing vocals, synth) further states: “We welcome the incorporation of steel, or have we already? It’s hard to prove we are not already in a simulation with the development of AI, advances in brain mapping technology and the inevitable singularity. We now see an age that is either here or on the horizon.”

He Whose Ox Is Gored Announces New Album “The Camel, The Lion, The Child”

Seattle’s He Whose Ox Is Gored has been raising the brows of the underground masses with an eclectic, oft trance-inducing fusion of doom, prog rock, post hardcore and psychedelic shoegaze. Following the release of the Bleeding Light Records-issued “Rumors” 7″ last year, the band will undrape a full-length debut on October 9th.

Titled “The Camel, The Lion, The Child,” the eight-track, near hour-long sound exhibition was tracked at Red Room and Ex Ex Audio in Seattle by Robert Cheek with additional recording taking place at Avast Studios with Randall Dunn. Matt Bayles handled mixing duties and frequent collaborator, Blake Bickel, mastered the album at Dynamic Sound Service.

Elaborates guitarist/vocalist Brian McClelland of the band’s latest output: “‘The Camel, The Lion, The Child’ is a cup that runs over. From the writing process and through the studio, we made it a point to make the record that we wanted. The songs grow and breathe with their own lives and personalities, and unfold with layers that surprise us to this day. The excellent engineering and mixing of Robert Cheek and Matt Bayles raised the bar, and pushed us to make the best record we could. Now, we share it with you.”

Seven Against Streaming Full “Beneath The Shell” Album

Seven Against’s new album “Beneath The Shell” – released on November 6th – was recorded and produced by the band, while the mixing was done at Studio Kekkonen by Mikko Raita.

Today the full album can be heard online via the SoundCloud stream below. Seven Against also comments:

“We wanted to make the best album possible. We had the option to only introduce new material on the album, but we felt that some of the older songs deserved to be on the album as well. The whole recording process was a pain in the butt and we learned a lot the hard way. E.g. some parts where recorded several times because the equipment and software didn’t always work as planned. We still pulled it off and did a great album. All songs fit in nicely, they sound great both as individual tracks and as a full length album and this is something to be really proud of.”

Three New Music Videos For “Overload” Released By Jørn

Jørn (ex-MasterPlan) released three new music videos for the track “Overload,” a song which appears on the latest album “Traveller” (available now via Frontier Records). The video consists of previously unreleased live footage. Three different edits were put together shortly after the release of the music video for “Traveller,” but were never uploaded until now.

Jørn explains: “At the time we didn’t see these videos as official music videos, since they were all based on live footage and live images. We thought they would be more suitable as bonus material in connection with a future compilation or as something extra on the next studio album. The original plan was to put together one video for ‘Overload,’ using the best footage from all the three versions to make the best possible result. I changed my mind and thought it would be a special treat for the fans to release them all as they are. I personally like ‘Overload’ a lot, it is one of my favorite Jorn songs, as it is a true massive rocker with a killer riff that hits you right in the face. Being such a great song it would be a shame to just ‘sit’ on the material, life is now and it deserves to be released.”

Deathember Finishes Recording New Album, Posts Pre-Production Track

Deathember has posted a pre-production version of the song “Spirals” online, which can be heard below. The band also commented on finishing the recording for a new album:

“The recordings of our debut album are done and have been sent to mix/mastering. We were working on a huge project to do a ‘making of’ documentary about the album, these plans have been modified slightly due to the fact that our guitarist got assaulted and robbed of his computer whilst taking all the video files from the drum recording/editing and first days of guitar recording home to do a backup.

“We are going to make the best of it and shoot some interesting post-studio stuff. There will still be a ‘making of’ and there will be studio updates but it will take some more time for us to make something useful out of the material that we still got left. Expect an interesting dive into the Deathember world!”

The Gardnerz Posts "The System Of Nature" Track-By-Track Breakdown

Swedish metallers The Gardnerz have teamed up with Metalholic to release a track-by-track breakdown of “The System of Nature” album. An excerpt from the breakdown follows:

The Art of Suffering – This was the first track I ever wrote for this band, and one of the once I like the best, very melodic yet at beast in its own right. The song is about people who only see the negative in life and never stop to embrace the positive. Maybe a strange topic for a death metal song, this has been pointed out to me, since we do gloomy music. But I consider myself an optimistic pessimist, yes the world is fucked and most things are shit, but instead of just focusing on this I try to think of what we can do with this to make life better. To quote Neil Young ” Some have taken pure bullshit and turned it into gold”. Instead of dwelling on the past I think it is better to live in the present and make the best of the situation.

Lady in The Grave – Slow monotones and evil, this was the second song I wrote, I think the contrast of the clean part that turns heavy turned out really cool. This is one of the songs that seems to be most appreciated by our listeners, even though it is not one of my favorites. The lyrics for this one was written and vocal pattern was written by our former vocalist, Joel Sundin, we kept some of his vocals in the clean part, he sounds so tortured. The song is about what happens when you cut down on the psychic care and let the not so sane people out in the world. Some nice social commentary for you.

Your Final Solution – So with this song we end the track listing chronologically as this was not song number tree in the creation process. Some reviewer said that this song sounds like Slayer but at a crawling pace, I can only agree, I’m very inspired by midperiod Slayer. Slow and catchy, that’s the ticket. The title has nothing to do with the lyrical theme, I couldn’t think of any lyric to fit the title so I wrote about something different. The song is about how a lot of us enjoy really gory movies and such, but when confronted with real life tragedy we shy away and don’t want to be bothered. Real life is in many ways way more scary than what any sci-fi/horror writer could ever imagine, I guess that is why most of the most nasty movies are often inspired by real events.

“The new Nightrage album is ready! We are extremely happy with the results and we look forward to sharing this music with all of you.
