The White Swan (Kittie) Debut New Song “Touch Taste Destroy”

The White Swan, featuring Kittie drummer Mercedes Lander among their lineup, premiere the title track to their approaching new EP, “Touch Taste Destroy“. That outing is headed for a September 07th release.

Says Lander of this latest track:

“‘Touch Taste Destroy‘ is about experiencing real romantic love for the first time. The kind of love that completely consumes you and ruins any idea of what you thought real love was like. The main riff came together very easily for me and was written on an Alvarez baritone acoustic on my couch in about 5 minutes.

We had the middle part tucked away in our bank of riffs and it fit very well with the main bit of music. Lyrically, the song is quite sappy, which is an underlying theme with The White Swan in general, but I really wanted to keep the verses very dark sounding, to contrast the lyrical content, and the choruses a bit more intense but in the same dark vein as the verses.

I felt like TTD perfectly describes the EP’s theme. Not only is it one of my favorite songs but it speaks for the content of all three songs on the EP.”

Taake Show Cancelled In The Wake Of Nazism Allegations

Taake‘s forthcoming spring North American tour has been met with at least one cancellation in the wake of allegations of Nazism being leveled at the group. The March 24th opening date at Le Poisson Rouge in New York, NY has been cancelled due to pressure from activist groups, such as this Antifa group.

The allegations originate from the Taake‘s mainman Hoest performing with a swastika painted on his chest back in 2007. He has since apologized for the incident and claimed it was meant to incite a reaction and was done as a joke. That said, lyrical content interpreted as being anti-Islamic by many hasn’t sat well with others either. Regardless, other venues seem to also be under pressure and are considering cancelling the band’s planned shows.

Drift Into Black (Grey Skies Fallen) Premiere Full-Album Stream Of New Album “Shadow People”

For close to twenty years, Craig Rossi has handled keyboard duties for the doom metal band Grey Skies Fallen, recording four albums, two EPs, and two singles with the group. He’s performed numerous shows across the US sharing the same stage with the likes of Opeth, Anathema, Arch Enemy, Amorphis, and Katatonia. He’s since embarked on a new musical journey with atmospheric/experimental gloom metal project Drift Into Black and his recently-issued Shadow People EP.

You can stream Shadow People in full via Bandcamp below:

Shadow People by Drift Into Black

Boasting five depressive tracks, the eclectic sounds comprising Shadow People draw inspiration from a vast array of genres including dark rock, atmospheric, and doom metal. Rossi has taken on the task of vocals, guitars, keyboards, mixing, and mastering, along with the help of a hired session drummer.

Notes Rossi, “I wanted the production on this EP to sound pale with less crisp than most records; a gloomy sound stage due to the fact that the lyrical content deals with dark human elements. If Anathema, Tiamat, Black Sabbath, and Katatonia all had a love child, Drift Into Black would be it.”

New Video Clip “American Scum” Posted By Death On Fire

Death On Fire has teamed up with Nine Circles to reveal a new video for the single “American Scum,” which you can check out at this location, or even better, down in the player below. Order the single at this location.

The track is a three and a half minute scorcher of melodic death metal and is highly recommended for fans of Carcass and At The Gates.

Band founder Tim Kenefic commented “This video along with the lyrical content is meant to show how the corporate aristocracy is ruining this country with lies, false promises, and a shameless distain for the middle and lower classes. We have the ability to change that but we are to ignorant and or uninformed. We need action at the ballots not marches and memes.”

Centuries Of Decay Posts New Song “Wings Of Death”

Toronto based quintet Centuries Of Decay will unleash a debut, self-titled concept album this coming August 4th, 2017. Drummer Derrick Doucette comments:

“We’ve often thought about the fragility of civilization throughout history and the idea of events repeating itself. With that in mind, our concept album tells the story of society being born, corrupt and destroyed in an endless cycle. It can be taken as a literal piece of fiction, or even a social commentary. It also comes from more personal issues such as depression, disillusionment and failure.”

Today band reveals second single “Wings of Death,” a song about religious and political propaganda and how its used to draw lines between people and nations. The lyrical content of this song draws from influences from George Orwell’s 1984.

The track was written as two halves, a slower heavier groove, then kicking into fast paced death metal with some vocal harmonies by guitarists Rob McAllister and Devin Doucette.

New Single “Days Go By – London” Issued By VUUR

In 2016, renowned Dutch vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen announced the formation of a brand new progressive metal group under the name of VUUR. The band debuts “Days Go By – London” with an album track video and digital release. This song is the first track taken from VUUR’s debut album, which has yet to be named, due in the fall of this year.

Anneke comments: “The lyrical content of the album is inspired by the many cities I have visited while being on the road. The song ‘Days Go By – London’ is about The Great Fire in 1666. The lyrics are written from the perspective of the element of Fire, threatening Londoners to wipe them out, but the song is also about hope. Even in the darkest of times, the sun will rise.”

All the tracks on the album are re-mixed and re-mastered by the talented Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Grid Productions) to make the songs more cohesive and work as a full-length experience. This album also features Bjorn ‘Speed’ Strid of Soilwork on vocals for the song “D.M.T.”

The band comments: “We’re very proud of our new album! Our dedication to song writing, recording and producing these 12 songs over the past 5 years has been a crazy musical journey and a huge learning experience that we will never forget.

“Our lyrical content and artwork is based on an original science-fiction concept story about a character who wakes up in a random field within an intricate crop circle with no memory of who he is or how he got there. The character is then thrown into a crazy adventure and eventually learns who he is and how to become immortal. There’s so much more to the story but we don’t want to give it all way just yet.”

Execration Announces New Album “Return To The Void”

On July 14th, Norwegian death metal crew Execration will release new album, “Return To The Void,” via Metal Blade Records. Today, the band has launched the title track as the first single/video – check it out below.

“Coming off of two double 12″ vinyl albums, the first clear goal for writing ‘Return To The Void’ was to deliver the same kind of dynamic and shifting song-writing in a more condensed to-the-point package,” comments Execration.

The band goes on to say, “As with the previous two albums, we wanted to capture the feel of a live performance, so all the basic tracks (drums, guitars, bass) were recorded live in our rehearsal studio in Oslo over the course of a weekend. Vocals, synths, and various effects where recorded the following weeks with assistance from Andreas Tylden (One Tail, One Head / Altaar). The album was then mixed and mastered by Tom Kvalsvoll of Kvalsonic Labs.”

Thematically, the album takes off into outer space, the world of dreams, and philosophic musings on time and space. The album’s seven songs and two instrumental tracks are permeated with the mysteries of the universe, both in lyrical content and concept, and in the music itself. This theme is further brought to life by the magnificent art of Zbigniew M. Bielak that adorns the front cover.

1. Eternal Recurrence
2. Hammers of Vulcan
3. Nekrocosm
4. Cephalic Transmissions
5. Blood Moon Eclipse
6. Unicursal Horrorscope
7. Through the Oculus
8. Return to the Void
9. Det Uransakelige Dyp
