Machine Head Announces New European “Killers And Kings” Tour Dates

After announcing an 11 date U.S. club tour specifically aimed at smaller markets, Machine Head is now proud to announce the first round of tour dates in 2014 for the U.K. and Europe.

The 15 date “Killers & Kings Tour” will serve as an album primer for more dates this Winter, but more importantly will hit numerous cities that Machine Head hasn’t headlined in for over a decade, or in several cases, never even played at all.

Says vocalist / guitarist Robb Flynn: “In keeping with the intimate club tour-vibe we are doing in the USA this summer, for our first time ever, we decided to blow off 90% of all Euro summer festivals, and hit the nooks and crannies of the UK and Europe as well. We will be doing no major cities in any territories throughout Europe and the UK for this first leg of 2014.

“No London, no Berlin, etc, and instead focusing on the die-hard Machine Head ans that who don’t often get the chance to see us because the travel is too far or too costly to get the big cities.

“I remember when we were out with Metallica doing festivals a few years ago, we played in a small out-of-the-way city in Denmark called Aarhus, we’d never played there let alone, ever even heard of the fucking place. We were all a bit grumbly before the show, and you know what? It ended up being one of the funnest shows we’ve ever done. Doing shows like this, it creates an energy, it creates a bond, something unbreakable, and it is really fucking fun. It’s Machine Head without all the big production, the bells and whistles, stripped down and raw.

“What will be really cool is that in the UK, we’ve never done a club tour, it happened so fast for us there that other than a handful of epically insane, wildly drunken Ten Ton Hammer club shows, we’ve only played bigger halls, so we are really looking forward to giving our fans something special there. Plus, we’ve been hearing from our Scottish fans for decades that we need to get to Edinburgh!!! So finally, 21 years into our existence, we’re coming, and we’re ready to fucking plunder Scotland!”

Cradle of Filth frontman, Dani Filth has posted an update from the road, as the band tour across Europe with Polish extreme metallers, Behemoth. His message reads as follows:

“The co-headline European tour with BEHEMOTH is going great, from a sold-out show at the London Forum to a furious headline gig in Paris, it’s been a f**king blast! Yesterday we had a quite a packed day off metro-ing it around Paris, photos of which I will be posting over the coming day or so as I collate them on my travels. Keep those peepers peeled.

“The picture below was taken in the Catacombs far below Paris where 6 million human remains are interred in ornate skull and bone stacks. Twisted images to follow fellow morbid curiosities!”

Every artist’s goal is to continue to top their previous efforts, but rarely is it ever done in such a convincing fashion. Behemoth front man Nergal reacts to the news: “This news just knocked us out while getting ready to hit the stage in Lyon. It’s actually unheard of… I don’t think that ANY black or death metal artist reached a higher position on Billboard ever! We are eternally grateful to our fans worldwide for making “The Satanist” the game changer in Behemoth’s history! We’d like to show our deepest respect to Metal Blade and our manager, Chuck Andrews, for working their asses off for us and making this all happen. It’s fuckin’ surreal and we can’t even describe how proud we are. With “The Satanist” we are making history here! Hail Freedom! Hail Satan!”

In other news, Nergal announced yesterday via his official facebook page that he was finally found not guilty on blasphemy charges leveled against him in Polish court. This brings to a close the highly publicized legal battle that has been ongoing since 2008.

Ora pro nobis, which is latin for “pray for us”, features lyrics penned by Nergal, along with Krzysztof Azarewicz.

The cover art for “The Satanist” was painted by renowned Russian painter and occultist, Denis Forkas (denisforkas.com). The paint used included some of Nergal’s own blood! Additional art and design was completed by Metastazis (Paradise Lost, etc.) and Zbigniew Bielak (Watain, Ghost).

“simply the best Behemoth record ever.” Decibel Magazine

“perhaps the most enjoyable Behemoth LP ever…Before long, the line between aggression and artistry becomes blurred, and it is then that The Satanist truly impresses…perhaps their most glorious display ov blasphemy yet.” Sputnikmusic.com

“the most extreme thing they’ve produced since their early days as a pagan black metal band, with far more of that old cold, macabre atmosphere settling in, and a certain feral intensity deliberately tarnishing the band’s more recent penchant for polish.” SPIN.com

“A writhing, densely layered, brutally violent and sinister record, it is quite unlike anything ever unleashed within the canon of heavy music. As such it demands attention, offering ever-greater sonic and emotional depth with every listen.” Drumhead Magazine

Behemoth will be returning to North America this Spring as part of the Metal Alliance Tour 2014! This will be the band’s first North American tour in support of their new album, “The Satanist.” Joining Behemoth on this tour will be Metal Blade label mates, Goatwhore, along with additional support from 1349, Inquisition, and Black Crown Initiate. In Solitude Appears On Sveriges Television In Sweden

In Solitude fans may have already seen the live clip filmed by Sveriges Television (SvT) in Sweden and posted to PSL, the online music section of SvT, but now the entire feature, “On the Dark Side of Uppsala with In Solitude,” has been made available with English subtitles. Check it out here or in the player below.

The two part series was filmed this spring when In Solitude took a break from recording third album “Sister” to show SvT the 400 year old Uppsala castle ruin. When the clock struck midnight (exactly 446 years after the crazy king Erik XIV of Sweden went on a killing spree through the castle) the band performed two songs: “A Buried Sun” and “Jesus i betong,” a cover of Swedish punk band Cortex.

Catch the band live with Behemoth, Cradle of Filth, and Inquisition:

In Solitude To Support Behemoth And Cradle Of Filth For February Tour Dates

Looks like February will be bedazzled by a rather black sun when occult outfit In Solitude will embark on a 19-date European trek supporting Cradle of Filth on the band’s co-headlining tour with Behemoth. Support on this tour also comes from Inquisition and Svarttjern.

In Solitude from Uppsala, Sweden is out now with third effort “Sister.” Currently In Solitude is touring North America supporting Watain.

Behemoth meanwhile will release new album “The Satanist” in 2014. Frontman Nergal comments: “We are immensely proud to start promotion of ‘The Satanist’ on the release date of the album in such a noble company. It’s been a while since we toured Europe for the last time… The wolf pack grew stronger and hungrier and with new opus and stage production we have so much more to offer. This European crusade will be the catalyst of 2 years long tour so keep your eyes open!”

Vocalist Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth also comments: “We are very much looking forward to touring with Behemoth et al, as I think the combined line-up for these momentous shows is definitely very killer. Prepare for some riotous shows immersed in such esteemed dark company, as Cradle traverses an Old Skool tour programme set against a viscerally visual backdrop of nocturnal metal supremacy. In other words, be there or be squared. Pinhead-style!”
