Behemoth launches video for new single, “Bartzabel”

– October 1st, 2018 –

“It doesn’t get more blasphemous than this,” declares Behemoth mastermind Nergal, about the band’s upcoming album, I Loved You At Your Darkest – due out October 5th via Metal Blade Records (North America) / Nuclear Blast (Europe). While it certainly seems an unlikely title for a black metal band, its origin might surprise fans even more than the words themselves. “It’s a verse from the Bible,” Nergal reveals. “It’s actually a quote from Jesus Christ himself. For Behemoth to use it as the basis of our record, it’s sacrilege to the extreme.”

A crushing salvo of black metal majesty replete with hellish riffs, thundering drum cannonades and soaring liturgical choirs reminiscent of classic horror cinema, I Loved You At Your Darkest is the group’s most dynamic record yet: extreme and radical on one hand, but also more rock-oriented than any other Behemoth release. Produced by the band themselves, with drum co-production by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames), mixing by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Children Of Bodom) mastering by Tom Baker (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson), and a 17-piece Polish orchestra arranged by Jan Stoklosa, I Loved You At Your Darkest can be pre-ordered now at: metalblade.com/behemoth – where the video for the new single, “Bartzabel” (directed by Grupa 13 / grupa13.com), can also be viewed. The following formats are available in the USA, along with an exclusive t-shirt:

–jewelcase CD
–digibook CD (hardcover digibook, 40 page booklet)
–baltic amber vinyl (limited to 600 copies)
–opaque white w/ gold splatter vinyl (Metal Blade Records exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–black / gold split vinyl (Metal Blade Records exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–clear w/ smoky black swirl (Nuclear Blast US exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–clear w/ grey inside (Kings Road exclusive – limited to 500 copies)
–”God = Dog” 7″ picture disc (Metal Blade Records exclusive – limited to 666 copies)

Nergal comments: “‘Bartzabel’ is a song that came in the midst of a Behemoth rehearsal…We had no structure, no vision – but piece by piece, it came to be, and we were extremely excited by the result. To us, it’s the eye of the ‘ILYAYD‘ storm: sonically calmer and slower than anything else on the record, but definitely one of the darkest!

Lyrically, we (myself and Krzysztof Azarewicz) were inspired by Aleister Crowley’s conjuration of the Spirit of Mars – which the video, by our trusted friends in Grupa 13, depicts beautifully…I may even go as far to say that it’s my favourite Behemoth video of all time! I hope you all enjoy it, and we look forward to ‘ILYAYD”s launch this Friday!”

Behemoth launches video for new single, “Wolves ov Siberia”

– September 5th, 2018 –

“It doesn’t get more blasphemous than this,” declares Behemoth mastermind Nergal, about the band’s upcoming album, I Loved You At Your Darkest – due out October 5th via Metal Blade Records (North America) / Nuclear Blast (Europe). While it certainly seems an unlikely title for a black metal band, its origin might surprise fans even more than the words themselves. “It’s a verse from the Bible,” Nergal reveals. “It’s actually a quote from Jesus Christ himself. The following formats are available in the USA, along with an exclusive t-shirt:

–jewelcase CD
–digibook CD (hardcover digibook, 40 page booklet)
–baltic amber vinyl (limited to 600 copies)
–opaque white w/ gold splatter vinyl (Metal Blade Records exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–black / gold split vinyl (Metal Blade Records exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–clear w/ smoky black swirl (Nuclear Blast US exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–clear w/ grey inside (Kings Road exclusive – limited to 500 copies)
–”God = Dog” 7″ picture disc (Metal Blade Records exclusive – limited to 666 copies)

Nergal comments: “‘Wolves Ov Siberia’ was the first song unveiled from ILYAYD, we began playing it on tour in May of this year – the raw energy and dynamism of the song lent itself perfectly to a live context! The studio version doesn’t lose those fundamentals and now with our added intricacies, you will be able to hear the call to Ancient times…the devil is in the detail, after all.
The video was purposefully very different from the well-recognised, Behemoth aesthetic – I wanted it to be chaotic, frenzied yet beautiful…I think this is mission accomplished and we’re really happy with the final product from Kyle Kadow and Steven Cleavland! Enjoy it!”

Formed in 1999 out of western Massachusetts, Killswitch Engage is often credited as one of the most influential metal acts in the last 20 years. Spending much of their career on the road, the band has enjoyed premium slots on major USA tours, including Ozzfest, Warped Tour, Taste of Chaos, Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest, Music As a Weapon, and Trespass America, as well as countless international festivals around the globe. Having shared the stage with acts ranging from Rise Against to Slayer, the diversity and versatility of their touring is unparalleled. Their songs have been featured on Guitar Hero III, Rock Band, John Madden, the Resident Evil III soundtrack, and as entrance music for WWE wrestling champ CM Punk.

Twice Grammy-nominated, Killswitch Engage has sold over 3 million records worldwide, with The End of Heartache and As Daylight Dies both certified Gold in the U.S and Silver in the UK. The band’s latest album – 2016′s Incarnate – landed at #6 on the Billboard Top 200, #1 on the Current Rock Albums chart, and debuted at #1 overall in Canada, #5 in Australia, and #10 in both the UK and Germany – a testament to their international reach.

2018 will mark the end of the Incarnate album cycle, which saw the group reach new heights with its collection of anthems that set the heavy music world ablaze. Co-founders of Killswitch Engage – guitarist/backing vocalist Adam Dutkiewicz, guitarist Joel Stroetzel, bassist Mike D’Antonio, and lead vocalist Jesse Leach (who returned six years ago after a decade-long absence) – plus longtime drummer Justin Foley, are currently working on a new album, with Adam Dutkiewicz handling producer duties once again. Employing their usual unrelenting determination to continually release powerfully potent work, Killswitch Engage plans to deliver another trend-resistant, timeless record that feeds the soul, touches the heart, and strengthens the mind. Stay tuned for more news about this new album coming soon!

The album entered multiple charts globally, including a Top 10 entry in Germany. Comments Primordial: “They say it’s the small things, well with a wry smile, a raised eyebrow of curiosity, a glint of minor satisfaction and an expression of general bemusement we raise a glass to all of you who went out there and bought the album in the first week and for supporting real independent music and to Metal blade for all the hard work! To the bitter end!”

Once again building upon their signature sound, the follow up to 2014′s Where Greater Men Have Fallen is a more raw, “old school sounding” record than its predecessor. Hitting home with what vocalist A.A. Nemtheanga describes as “a direct energy” and wielding an urgency that is undeniable, the Irish quintet once again effortlessly blend elements of tragedy and might like no one else. Likewise, the evolution in their sound continues to be organic and unforced, ensuring that Exile Amongst The Ruins is essential listening for both their long term faithful and those only now drawn into their world.
