All my love,
Bill”

Gorgon Debut New Single “Ishassara” From Upcoming New 2018 Album

‘Ishassara’ is a short and tragic story written by Gorgon founder and vocalist Paul Thureau, taking place in ancient Crete: it’s the story of a tortured man who has lived a life in pain, regrets and guilt, and who starts giving all his love and devotion to a goddess (Ishassara) asking her for peace of mind and soul.

Recorded at Hybreed Studios, produced by Jussi Kulomaa and mastered by Jaakko Viitalähde, ‘Ishassara’ is the first song released by the French band since 2016’s Titanomachy album and a track that is set to feature on the forthcoming full-length slated for release 2018.

New Lyric Video “Prevail” Posted By Kobra And The Lotus

A true rock juggernaut full of blistering guitars, pounding rhythms and haunting vocal melodies that is taking the listener on a sonic journey leading them out from the darkness and into the light. Produced by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Epica etc) and mastered by Grammy award winning Ted Jensen, “Prevail I” has undoubtedly ushered the band to a much deserved elevated hard rock status.

Now the band fronted by charismatic vocalist Kobra Paige has unveiled a brand new lyric video for the track “Prevail,” which to you can enjoy in the player below.

The band informs us: “This one’s for all the non-believers…the people on the outside and the voice inside your head that said you’d never make it out. The voice that told you to stop dreaming. The devil on your shoulder whispering ‘Go ahead and quit, you’re not good enough anyways.’

“Out with the hate and in with the love. There’s a new mantra in town and it’s slamming that shadowed voice into the ground. We will Prevail and we are never backing down!”

Evolution is inevitable and Kobra And The Lotus delivered the most powerful album to date, “Prevail I,” with “Prevail II” to complete the story in the not too distant future…

Music Video For New Single “Visionary” Posted By Silenmara, New EP Revealed

Following a turbulent few months for the band, Florida melodic death metal outfit Silenmara has come back fighting with a brand new music video single and details of a polished EP produced by Jamie King that promotes their fight for musical freedom. Check out the video for the new single “Visionary.” The song is available for purchase via Bandcamp at this location).

The song appears on the new EP “A Darkened Visionary” coming December 15th.

Guitarist Jason Gato commented on the song: “Lyrically, the song ‘Visionary’ was written about decisions. A person can take one of two roads. One simple mistake or miscalculation could be life changing or even fatal. On the other hand one focused and calculated decision can change a persons life for the best. It’s all about your mindset and your ability to make serious decisions under pressure. When you’re on a ‘Bridge of defeat, could you stand for denial’?

“Musically we wrote this song for one specific purpose, to deliver an emotion. We wanted our people to feel the love we have for this music. It is filled with guitar melodies and odd time trickery that we have come to embrace in our writing. A very catchy guitar lick meets an aggressive vocal melody begging for guidance and hoping for forgiveness. We chose this song for its ability to find its way into your mind and stay. Our Vision of musical freedom.”

Having fought through hurricanes, family deaths and constant delays on the production of the EP, Silenmara is now ready to unleash their masterpiece onto the world and look forward to reclaiming the fan’s hearts. Silenmara combines the best aspects of the two most iconic death metal schools in the world; the melodic flails of Sweden’s Gothenburg sound with Florida’s style of aggressive death metal.

2017 sees Silenmara embarking into a new era with the release of the fourth studio effort “A Darkened Visionary” EP, which is set for a December 15th release. This EP welcomes new guitar player Marcus Noga, which has only broadened Silenmara’s musical horizons. Silenmara has also contracted the talented Giovanni Angel to engineer the EP and Jamie King (The Contortionist, BTBAM) to mix and master the record. The outcome is a very polished, matured and reenergised recording.

“This EP was very emotionally driven, we lost a few family members during the tracking process, that really hurt the progress at the beginning, but we did it. We powered through some pretty serious personal tragedies. We also had to deal with a Category 4 hurricane IRMA during the mixing process, that was also a bit of an inconvenience to say the least” says Gato.

More information on the EP is expected soon. Check out the “Visionary” music video here:

Debut Self-Titled EP To Be Released By Lark

Progressive sludge/stoner metal band Lark is set to release the debut, self-titled album on October 31st. The band features former members of Bright Curse and Sail In Between.

Lark is the overdue collaboration of two French brothers, Raph, former guitarist and lead singer of Sail In Between and former bassist of Angher Incorporated and Zach, former drummer of Bright Curse. The elder resides in their native south of France, while the younger moved to London in 2009 to explore the UK music scene.

Zach evolved in the stoner, psyche and hard rock tones in recent years while Raph followed his love for hardcore and prog, but their tastes meet in a rock and metal avalanche of riffs, grooves and all that is heavy. They shared a vision of music that combines massive and textured sound with the groove of their early metal influence.

The two brothers rapidly found ways around the distance between them and started their first creative collaboration at the beginning of 2017. The EP came to life thanks to the help of Robin Mariat of Grey Matter Studio (Lyon, Fr), Chris Painter of Red Roof Sounds (London, Uk), Marco of Marc&Cheese (London, Uk) and Jake Read of Living Room Studios (London, Uk).

The band is set to release their first EP “Lark,” a new blend of metal inspired by Mastodon, Opeth, Gojira, Black Peaks, Russian Circles and more this fall. The D-day is set for Halloween 2017 when the extensive network of VIPs will meet and celebrate at a location not yet disclosed.

Xandria Splits With Vocalist Dianne Van Giersbergen

German symphonic metal band Xandria has now split with its fifth vocalist, officially parting ways with Dianne van Giersbergen today. The group issued this statement:

“Dear all, we are very sad about the situation that we and you, the people following Xandria, have to face now. After we already had to cancel many concerts since July due to Dianne not being able to perform we had now been informed by her that she is leaving the band with immediate effect.

“This happened after we published news that the upcoming concerts will be played with a temporary replacement singer. It was clear to everyone, including Dianne, that it was supposed to be a temporary solution only. We had to learn about her departure in a way that has been surprising us very much and with a statement in which we do not recognize ourselves in.

“We have been very downhearted about not being able to play these concerts, and probably would not have been able to play for an undetermined time also in the future. For that reason, we wanted to play at least the concerts in November and December with a temporary replacement singer that can celebrate the music we love so much together with you and us, instead of cancelling any more concerts.

“We always have been doing our best to be there for you fans, so we tried the same in this difficult situation. Just as we always tried to find a good way to care for all members of the band to live the passion that is music, which can sometimes be difficult for everyone. Unfortunately, it seems that Dianne´s needs and goals were drifting apart from the band´s ones.

“However, we are proudly looking back at what we achieved together and we are thanking Dianne for the great times we shared and everything she did for the band. We wish her all the best for what she is heading for on her future way. We will live the passion we have for our music together with you all on our concerts in November, December & beyond! With a heavy heart, but at the same time looking forward to the future and to see you out there sharing our music with you,

“Philip, Marco, Steven & Gerit.”

Dianne tells a very different version of events, posting this message online via Facebook about her departure from Xandria:

“The moment I promised you and me that would never come is here: I am leaving Xandria. And the reason is simple: staying in the band would cause further damage to the health problems the band has caused me.

“For nearly 2 years now I’ve been trying to put band and management issues on the table, with the sole reason to keep this band healthy, together and ready for the future. Today I am sad to say that my attempts failed and have been ignored, that my cries for help have been met with financial threats and emotional extortion and that my persistence to keep on going, ignoring all the warning signs, has left me with uncontrollable stress symptoms (confirmed by doctors). I am a fighter, but I’ve come to see that this is one I cannot win. I don’t want to leave, I love the music that I got to write for you – which is 100% me – but I can’t live, can’t perform, can simply not exist in an environment that harms me. This environment does not care for me nor for the fans (even proposed me to playback in order to do more shows in a row) and somehow miraculously never generated any financial outcome and therefore no stability for any of its band members.

“Yesterday evening the last hope I had of ever reconciling with the boys was shattered when they made a statement announcing that ‘I’ could not perform with the band anymore, forgetting to mention that I am in this unhealthy position because of Xandria & management. Not surprisingly they also already have a replacement for me and kicked me out of every Xandria social media page. With that they’ve send me one last clear message: they are not interested in fixing the situation nor are they willing to support me if that means (partly) stepping away from the business perspective (quote: ‘we are not friends’) which leads me to conclude what I know now: it is time for me to close this chapter and wish them the best of luck in continuing the band I loved so much.

“Now, I don’t know where we will meet again, but I didn’t follow my passion, study all those hours and travel all those roads to simply give up. I’m sad to close this chapter, but I’m sure there will be another one to write. In the meantime I will be focussing on what does make me happy and I will be posting my daily business and updates on my Precious Metal Jewelry and Ex Libris stuff as usual. I very much hope to see you online so we can stay in touch and who knows, maybe one day in an audience again. Thank you all for understanding, for your love and support! I am forever grateful.”

Earlier this week, Metal Blade Records and BMG released For the Sake of Heaviness: The History of Metal Blade Records – written by label founder and CEO Brian Slagel with Mark Eglinton, and featuring a foreword by Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich. Celebrating the storied label’s 35th anniversary, For the Sake of Heaviness is an inside look at how Slagel built Metal Blade from a one-man operation in his mom’s non-air-conditioned garage to the preeminent international home of heavy music that it is today.

Now, fans of For the Sake of Heaviness can purchase exclusive bundles and Metal Blade memorabilia through PledgeMusic: pledgemusic.com/projects/metalbladebook

Slagel reveals the early advice he gave that helped guide Motley Crue‘s career; how he helped Metallica replace their bassist – twice; his detailed work on Thin Lizzy and Alice Cooper re-issues; his behind-the-scenes role in the careers of Slayer, GWAR, Mother Love Bone, Alice in Chains, Faith No More, Goo Goo Dolls, and Lamb of God; and his unlikely ventures with kindred metal heads – from hockey star Ken Baumgartner, to celebrity chef Chris Santos, to The Howard Stern Show‘s Richard Christy, to comedians Jim Florentine, Don Jamieson and Jim Breuer.
