Ill Nino Reveals New Lineup; Posts New Song “Sangre” Online

Latin metal legends, Ill Niño, are excited to debut their first song in in nearly five years, “Sangre”, and welcome new members – Shattered Sun vocalist Marcos Leal, rhythm guitarist Sal Dominguez, formerly of Upon A Burning Body, and Sons of Texas’ Jess Dehoyos on lead guitar.

Ill Niño founder and drummer Dave Chavarri says, “Sometimes being in a band is like being married – sometimes people grow apart and no longer see eye to eye, and a separation becomes inevitable. We wish our former members the best in their musical careers, and are pumped to move forward with our new band members. Not only have we toured with them, but they’re very respected, seasoned musicians, and dudes that have always been our ‘Familia’ since day one.”

Marcos Leal says, “Anyone who knows me knows the love I have for this band. I got my start singing Ill Niño covers in my younger years and this band has always held a special place in my heart. When the opportunity arose to front one of my favorite bands of all time, it was something I needed to consider.”

Leal will continue to do double-duty as vocalist for both Ill Niño and Shattered Sun.

Ill Niño’s “Sangre” is available at today via iTunes, Google Play and Amazon. An audio preview of the track is available below. Ill Niño will be announcing two full international tours, as well as a new label home and new official video shortly. King Diamond announces NYC release party for DVD/Blu-ray, ‘Songs For The Dead Live’

– January 16th, 2019 –

On January 25th, King Diamond will release a new DVD/Blu-ray, Songs For The Dead Live, via Metal Blade Records. To celebrate this DVD/Blu-ray, a release party will take place at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn, NY on February 6th at 7PM. Featuring an appearance by Abigail, this event will include a showing of both shows from Songs For The Dead Live: Belgium’s Graspop Metal Meeting in June 2016 and Philadelphia’s Fillmore in November 2015, both of which contain a brace of classic King Diamond and Mercyful Fate tracks before launching into Abigail. To RSVP, please email: kingdiamondparty@gmail.com

There is only one King Diamond, and for more than thirty years the great Dane has been dropping classic albums and putting on shows fans remember for the rest of their lives. Perhaps the only downside to having such a formidable catalogue is that there are just too many great songs to fit into a single set. However, you would be hard-pressed to find a fan who wouldn’t want to hear 1987′s seminal Abigail in its entirety, and Songs For The Dead Live captures this, twice, and in very different locales. The performances of the all-star lineup of musicians, comprising of guitarists Andy LaRocque and Mike Wead, bassist Pontus Egberg and drummer Matt Thompson, are absolutely ferocious, hammering home every single moment.

For a preview of Songs For The Dead Live, videos for “Arrival (Live at Graspop)” and “Sleepless Nights (Live at The Fillmore)” can be viewed at: metalblade.com/kingdiamond – where Songs For The Dead Live can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

–2DVD/CD 6-Panel Digipak
–Blu-ray (includes audio digital download of Philadelphia Show)
–opaque blue with white splatter vinyl (US retail exclusive – limited to 600 copies)
–root beer marbled vinyl (US webstore exclusive – limited to 250 copies)
–clear pale orange marbled vinyl (US webstore exclusive – limited to 250 copies)
–180g black vinyl (EU exclusive)
–transparent amber marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 700 copies)
–clear ghost white vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 500 copies)
–orange-brown/black marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–black/purple melt vinyl (Nuclear Blast exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–orange/red marbled vinyl (Napalm exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–clear lavender marbled vinyl (EMP exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–clear ash grey marbled vinyl (Bengan exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–pink blue marbled vinyl (Ebay exclusive – limited to 200 copies)

Captured on film by director Denise Korycki for Wild Wind Productions, she worked closely with King on every aspect of filming, and throughout the viewer finds themselves front and center as the shows unfold. This includes some inventive camera placement, such as riding in on the back of the wheelchair as it is wheeled out to “Out From The Asylum” at the start of the show, or looking up from the coffin at the commencement of Abigail opener “Funeral”, which adds an extra dimension to proceedings. Naturally, the theatricality that has become synonymous with King Diamond is there in full force, making for an even more immersive experience. The gothic stage set and the participation of actors playing out certain scenes tying into the songs definitely increases the drama and the sense of complete disconnect from the trappings of reality, ensuring that the shows remain riveting from start to finish.

While the setlists are virtually identical, the drastic difference in the two venues make for distinctly different atmospheres. The sweeping, epic scale of Graspop and the virtual sea of baying metalheads makes for a particularly thrilling spectacle, King holding them all in the palm of his hand. The Fillmore show is immediately more intimate, and rather than a mixed bag of metal lovers drunk on a weekend of the heavy stuff, the audience is comprised entirely of the King Diamond devout, screaming back every word, their love for their hero bleeding from every frame. Songs For The Dead Live gives those who missed out on seeing these shows in the flesh a chance to vividly experience them, offering so much deeper an experience than your run of the mill live DVD.

My dear friend, who having JUST finished a tour agreed to help me and the band out and learn an entire Slayer set in days and come out here so I can return home for my dad. Thank you Phil, you are family, love you bro!

Please give him your warmest welcome. And most of all, I gotta thank @slayerbandofficial , @tomarayaofficial @paulbostaphofficial and Kerry King, you guys are TRULY my family, and have had my back through all what has been the roughest time in my life on tour. Armored Saint Launch Their Own Beer “Symbol Of Salvation” Belgian Blonde Ale

Decibel Metal & Beer Fest: Los Angeles (December 1st and 2nd), presented by Metal Blade Records, continues its mission of pairing the most extreme minds in music and craft beer with Symbol Of Salvation Belgian Blonde Ale – a collaboration between Armored Saint (who will be performing at the sold-out official festival pre-party) and participating brewery Metal Monkey Brewing (Romeoville, IL).

Brewed with Grains of Paradise and Pacifica hops, Symbol Of Salvation offers a slight twist on the traditional style; the Grains of Paradise add a slightly spicy, woody character, while the Pacifica hops bring to the party an aroma and flavor reminiscent of orange marmalade. The beer will first be tapped at the Decibel Metal & Beer Fest: Los Angeles – where Armored Saint will also be signing at 7 PM on December 1st. Enjoy Symbol Of Salvation with Armored Saint at the festival by purchasing your ticket now at decibelmagazine.com.

Brewmasters Dan Camp and Jason Janes started Metal Monkey Brewing out of a shared love for craft beer and heavy metal. Together they have over 20 years of brewing experience, with the last three spent building up the brewery portfolio, experimenting with styles and ingredients, and spreading word of their brews far and wide.

Regarding the making of Symbol Of Salvation, Metal Monkey Brewing comments: “Metal Monkey got to hang out with Fates Warning after their Joliet, IL and Milwaukee, WI dates during their 2017 Theories of Flight tour. It was basically two nights of bonding over the magic of music and beer. When Armored Saint came through Chicago earlier this year as part of their tour to celebrate ‘Symbol Of Salvation’ we had the chance to do it all over again.

“Since then, we’ve kept in touch with Joey Vera with an eye toward working together in the future. After we were added to the brewery lineup for the Decibel Metal & Beer Festival, we immediately got in touch with Joey because it was the perfect opportunity to turn a hypothetical into a reality.
Working with Joey has been a blast. He’s he made music that’s been a fixture in our lives and he shares our love of beer and our passion for creativity. It’s been an honor to pair up and create a fun, flavorful beer that sidesteps conventional expectations.

“We’re proud to debut Symbol Of Salvation, our Belgian Blonde Ale brewed in collaboration with and in celebration of Armored Saint and their iconic album, at the Decibel Metal & Beer Festival. Everything about this beer was born of a shared love for the art of brewing that, much like heavy metal in all its forms, affords endless possibilities.”

Armored Saint’s Joey Vera adds: “We are super excited to announce that we have made a great craft beer in collaboration with Metal Monkey Brewery from Romeoville, Il! Aside from being Metal Heads, these guys are great brewers who are not afraid of going outside the box! Together, we’ve created a killer Belgian Blonde Ale that we stand tall behind! Welcome to Symbol Of Salvation Belgian Blonde Ale! Come on out to the Decibel Beer Fest, meet the band, meet our brew, get a taste of Symbol Of Salvation Belgian Blonde Ale!”
