Ufomammut Releases “Warsheep” Music Video

Italian group Ufomammut melds uncompromisingly heavy magic with psychedelic swirls and recently announced news of a new studio recording, “8,” which shall arrive on the 22nd of September via Neurot Recordings.

Prior to the release of the “8” LP, Ufomamut today delivers an early extract from the record in the form of a video for “Warsheep,” which you can view below. Adding to the video’s eerie atmosphere, the setting is in an abandoned villa in Italy, and the surrounding woodland.

The band comments: “It is inspired by the lyrics of the song which in itself is a play on the word ‘worship.’ The protagonist takes a symbolic journey from the natural human condition to the trappings of the dogmas of society, religion etc. The principle idea being that thought is blind and is caged into the illusion of being free.”

Ufomammut has also announced a long list of upcoming European live shows as well, including several major festival performances and an autumn European tour with Usnea. Additional live shows will be announced in the weeks ahead.

SikTh Posts “Golden Cufflinks” Music Video

Ahead of the June 2nd release of new album “The Future In Whose Eyes?,” SikTh just dropped a new single and video “Golden Cufflinks.”

When introducing the track, vocalist and lyricist Mikee W Goodman states, “The song is very melodic and is a very different type of song for SikTh fans to hear. Even though there are extremely aggressive moments on the new album. This song has a real epic and melodic feel to it.”

Produced and directed by Goodman, the video acts as a commentary to and the causation of the ongoing sanitisation of many towns and cities, something many music fans around the world will be able to relate to.

“When I wrote the lyrics for ‘Golden Cufflinks,’ they were initially inspired by the amount of live music venues that are being closed and a feeling that rock culture is in decline,” Goodman said. “The venue which sticks out to me the most is the famous London Astoria. Some of the best SikTh shows were in the LA2 and main Astoria. I went a lot as a fan as well. So when that was closed and knocked down to make way for Crossrail, it really was a sad and defining moment in rock history for me and many others.”

He further adds, “I think places of such rich history and cultural importance should be protected and preserved. I see this happening across the country and world — so many other venues being shut down and how scenes and golden eras come and go. How we have to move along or do it seems.”

The singer finishes by saying: “You see the business men buying up cities to turn them into the most profitable and bland form. It follows a similar theme from our song ‘Bland Street Bloom’ from Death of a Dead Day. This happens in many cities; it is not just about London. ‘Golden Cufflinks’ is a reflection and commentary of this kind of happening.”

Thomas Caser, CEO of Napalm Records: “We are proud to announce the signing of one of this most influential Extreme Metal act and pioneer of a whole genre. This upcoming album will surely set another mile stone in heavy music and we are honoured to release it this fall!”

Reissue Of First Two Albums On The Way From Caligula’s Horse

Caligula’s Horse, one of Australia’s most exciting and innovative progressive bands, is set to return to Europe in June 2017 for a string of live dates including support slots with Opeth, Anathema & Pain of Salvation, UK headline shows and festival appearances at Midsummer Prog Festival (Valkenburg, Netherlands) and the Be Prog! My Friend Festival (Barcelona, Spain). To coincide with that, InsideOutMusic will reissue the band’s first two albums “Moments From Ephemeral City” and “The Tide, the Thief & River’s End” on June 16th in both CD and digital download formats.

“Moments From Ephemeral City” was released in 2011, and is the band’s debut album. Originally intended as a solo album by Sam Vallen, it quickly became the start of the story for Caligula’s Horse once vocalist Jim Grey became involved. Recorded entirely by the duo, it presents a vision that is colourful, eclectic and vivid.

“The Tide, the Thief & River’s End” followed in 2013, and was a concept album that explored themes of oppression, exodus, and the inexorable survival of the human spirit. The album saw them perform with the likes of Protest The Hero, Mastodon & Opeth, as well as garnering the attention of current label InsideOutMusic.

Vocalist Jim Grey comments: “We’re thrilled that our first two albums will be far easier to get a hold of around the world now through Inside Out Music. ‘Moments’ and ‘River’s End’ are an integral part of the Caligula’s Horse journey – we learned a lot creating them and though it’s been some years since their release, we’re as proud of them as ever.

“We’re looking forward to sharing fan favorites from our whole back catalogue with our friends in Europe in June!”

Ex People Premieres New Song “Not A Drill” From Upcoming New Album “Bird”

East London, UK’s stoner/doom metal four-piece Ex People premieres a new song titled “Not A Drill”, taken from the upcoming new album “Bird”, which will arrive in stores 19 May through New Heavy Sounds. The new outing was recorded with Wayne Adams (Vodun, USA Nails, Death Pedals, Casual Nun) at Bear Bites Horse Studios.

Check out now “Not A Drill” below.

Says the band about “Not A Drill”:

“‘Not A Drill’ is the opener off our new record, Bird, which veers from noise rock to doom and all points in-between, but this track kicks things off on the more stoner rock end of the spectrum. The world seems like it is in an really uncertain place right now and lyrically this track is about trying to stand up and organise. The final third features an avalanche of fuzz and wah pedal to give you that warm, happy glow inside.”
