More Bands Added To Metalocalypstick Fest 2017

Based in Valemount, BC near Jasper National Park with the beautiful backdrop of the Canadian Rockies, there stands an outdoor festival that just doesn’t celebrate music, but embraces the power of women in metal.

Formed in 2016, Metalocalypstick Fest was created to present a unique experience within the Western Canadian metal community, a gathering of similar views, aspirations and musical taste (similar to former mainstream music festival Lilith Fair).

Founded by Kaija Kinney of Vancouver’s Anarcheon after researching a lack of female-based metal festivals to apply her band to, Kinney took matters into in her own and decided to produce the event.

Kinney comments: “This festival means the celebration of both sexes coming together and creating something amazing. People like to say women in metal aren’t a big deal anymore and that we are all the same. I feel that is untrue, this is still a male dominated world and woman are still looked as lesser. I want to showcase all these bad ass ladies and celebrate the differences of men and woman rather than pretend we are all equal. Truth is we are different why can’t we celebrate that?”

In addition to the festival celebrating women in metal, the Metalocalypstick Fest gives back to the community by being a non-profit organization dedicated to raise funds and donating 100% of proceeds to local charities Girls Rock Camp, Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter, Earth Protectors plus an audience picked foundation.

Preparing for a 2nd annual year, the outdoor festival is proud to announce a second batch of bands added to the lineup: Life Like Fire, Breaking The Silent, and the return of Massive Sca Era to join previously introduced Tessitura, Körperlose Stimme, Meteor Tree, Scythia, Hedks, Forsaken Rite and Remnants.

The second annual festival is being held during Canada Day weekend on July 1st and 2nd in Valemount, BC. For tickets and more info, please visit this location.

New Concert Film “Paris” Announced By Rammstein

Today, the official pre-sale for the concert film “Rammstein: Paris” begins ahead of the worldwide release on May 19. Get it at this location.

The film, which will be released in many configurations, sets new standards. In March 2012, during the Made in Germany tour, Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund shot two acclaimed Rammstein concerts at the Palais Omnisports arena in Paris in front of 17,000 spectators.

Featuring 22 songs from the band’s entire repertoire, the resulting film is not only the most spectacular collection of imagery about the most successful German rock band of our time, but also a masterpiece of music cinema, capturing Rammstein’s energy as a unique visual and sonic experience.

Åkerlund is notorious for his radical, pioneering video clips for bands such as The Prodigy, Metallica, The Rolling Stones, and also Rammstein. Absurd details, upended perspectives, shocks of contrast, and sensory confusion flicker through his music productions, and in “Rammstein: Paris,” he celebrates this from the very first minute.

Rammstein plays 22 songs (128 minutes), ranging from “Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen?,” the first song from the very first album, to “Frühling in Paris” from the last studio album “Liebe ist für alle da.”

Artistically and dramaturgically ingeniously staged, like an overwhelming video clip, “Rammstein: Paris” is one of the best rock concert films of all time. “Absolument.”

A first impression of this masterpiece can be seen right here:

The follow-up to the band’s critically-acclaimed 2014 “Abomination Underground,” the self-titled album is an utterly destructive, dark, depraved, and disgustingly satisfying piece of death metal that fans of Death, Gruesome, Sodom, Massacre and all the old gods will surely appreciate. This is beyond old school – this is fucking original!

Novembers Doom Posts “Zephyr” Lyric Video

Ready for new Novembers Doom? The “Hamartia” album follows 2014 full-length release “Bled White” (reviewed here) and will see official release on April 14th, 2017. Pre-orders are online now at this location.

As we approach that release date, today a music video for album track “Zephyr” comes online and can be seen below.

Vocalist Paul Kuhr commented to TeamRock.com about the track:

“The entire album of Hamartia is based on relationships, and I took a different approach for some of it’s lyrical content. I wrote certain songs through the eyes of other people, who are very close to me in my life, keeping it all very personal. ‘Zephyr’ is one song written though the eyes of my daughter, and after watching her struggle with a demon she’s had for years, it was a way for me to put into words what I have witnessed all along. It’s about standing up, calling it out for what it is, and doing what needs to be done to move forward with her life.”

The new album’s full track listing is as follows:

1. Devils Light
2. Plague Bird
3. Ghost
4. Ever After
5. Hamartia
6. Apostasy
7. Miasma
8. Zephyr
9. Waves in the Red Cloth
10. Borderline

Loathe’s Erik Bickerstaffe comments: “We wanted a song to bridge the gap between what we thought would be expected and what we intended to do with the record. With ‘It’s Yours’, we went about the creative process a bit differently to how we usually do and it fell into place as the track that connects the dots.

“Visually, we brought ourselves into the spotlight for the video, providing a face for the name. Zak worked very closely with us when it came to perfecting every detail within the aesthetic and we’re extremely pleased with what we achieved.”
