Xentrix Unveils New Band Lineup

Xentrix just checked in with the following announcement about bringing on a new vocalist and gearing up for live activity once again:

“It’s been a while since we posted any Xentrix news, and to be totally honest, this has been down to the fact that we weren’t sure if there would be anymore news or even anymore Xentrix.

“At the end of 2015 Chris Astley, our singer/guitarist had decided he didn’t want to be a part of Xentrix or any other band for that matter, and so once again he was out of the line up. This left us (the remaining three members) with the option to call it a day or try and find a replacement.

“We knew full well that the vocals are always the most difficult thing for any band to replace, but we wanted to carry on doing shows and making new metal music, so we set out on the arduous task of finding a new vocalist for the band. For the past 18 months we’ve been trying to find that right person and it has been incredibly frustrating how many times we thought we had found the new addition to our line up only to discover, for one reason or another, it wasn’t to be. We’d like to thank everyone that auditioned and demoed for us, we experienced some great voices and really cool people.

“But after a chance meeting at last year’s Bloodstock Festival we found the right man for the job and so Xentrix would like to welcome Mr. Jay Walsh (Bull Riff Stampede) as our new singer / guitarist. We’re super excited to have Jay on board and have already started writing and demoing new material. Most importantly, we can’t wait to get back to doing what we love the most, playing live!”

Xentrix 2017 consists of:

Kristian Havard – Guitar
Chris Shires – Bass
Jay Walsh – Vocals/Guitar
Dennis Gasser – Drums

Denner / Shermann premieres new video for “Satan’s Tomb”

– December 4th, 2015 –

Denner / Shermann recently released their debut, 4-track EP, Satan’s Tomb, via Metal Blade Records; today, the legendary guitar duo from Mercyful Fate has launched the video for the EP’s title track! Visions of darkness and blood-soaked women drench the digital landscape, while the band performs “Satan’s Tomb”.

The video for Denner / Shermann “Satan’s Tomb” can be seen here: metalblade.com/dennershermann

Hank Shermann comments: “We are happy to be able to release a video for the title track, which was the first song that really got us going as a band.
Now we are building upon the shadowy metal essence of what we created with the ‘Satan’s Tomb‘ EP, and are moving forward with a full-length release for next year.”

Featuring cover artwork painted by Thomas Holm (best known for his work on Mercyful Fate‘s Melissa and Don’t Break The Oath), Satan’s Tomb is classic heavy metal infused with an outpouring of Michael Denner and Hank Shermann‘s signature, dark magic shred-work. According to the formidable guitar duo from Mercyful Fate, rounding out the line-up with Snowy Shaw (King Diamond, Therion, Sabaton) on drums, Marc Grabowski (Demonica) on bass guitar, and Sean Peck (Cage, Death Dealer) on vocals was a critical component to bringing these 4 tracks to life. Their critically acclaimed release has the press and fans both craving for more from this group.

Denner comments, “Creating these songs with this line-up really ignited my metal fire hotter than ever! I’m sure the fans are going to love this thing.”
Shermann adds, “This mix ended up really having an old school feel to it that sounds awesome when blasting at an unhealthy volume.”

Byzantine Streaming New Song “The Agonies”

Byzantine is about to unleash its new album “To Release Is To Resolve” on April 7th. Today the band offers a first taste of it by premiering the track “The Agonies” below.

Explains frontman Chris Ojeda: “‘The Agonies’ is a street term for withdrawal symptoms from pain pills.

This song is a continuation of the topic of rampant drug abuse in my home state of West Virginia and particularly the area that I was raised in. Last album, we released the video “Soul Eraser” which focused on the meth problem. “The Agonies” is about prescription pill abuse. My state has the highest mortality rate from RX pill abuse in the country. It is literally crippling our economy. In the chorus, we have the line: “These WV hills can sedate you.” On our debut 11 years ago, our biggest song “Hatfield” had the line: “These WV hills can’t sedate me”” We go back to our first album to let people know that things have changed – for the worse.”
