Saxon Announces 40th Anniversary Shows With Girlschool And Other Special Guests

1979 was a monumentous year for British Hard Rock with the birth of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and the subsequent rise of future giants of the genre. After 40 years and 22 studio album releases SAXON remain as one of those giants of British Heavy Metal and to prove the fact the band are back in 2019 to play 3 iconic shows in iconic venues.

For the first time since the 1980’s Saxon return to headlining London’s legendary Hammersmith “Odeon” and Manchester Apollo, together with their largest Scottish show to date at Glasgow’s Braehead Arena in October 2019, with a mega show featuring staples of Saxon shows past, the castle set in its enormity together with the classic Eagle Lighting rig!

In addition to the announcement of these shows, the band will release another chapter in the classic “The Eagle Has Landed Live” series of albums with The Eagle Has Landed 4 out on general release on August 2nd 2019 via Silver Lining Music. Renamed “The Eagle Has Landed 40” to commemorate the anniversary, the album will be a double CD set (available on other formats including a special box set) containing 40 songs spanning the bands career.

The Tour Dates are as follows:

Friday October 18th – Glasgow, Braehead Arena
Saturday October 19th – London, Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith
Sunday October 20th – Manchester, o2 Apollo

To add to an already exciting spectacle, very special guest acts have been included on all shows to make these events no hard rock fan can bear to miss.

For London and Manchester, a four band bill will include Swiss legends KROKUS who will play their first and only shows in the UK for many years together with friends and NWOBHM icons GIRLSCHOOL & DIAMOND HEAD. Krokus have decided to retire after this year, so these will also be the band’s last ever shows in the UK.

Glasgow will feature special guests BLACK STAR RIDERS, fresh after the release of pending album No 4, together with Girlschool opening the show.

Krokus’ Chris Von Rohr adds “We all have very good memories about the British fans – and Saxon – long stick will go boom! Together we gonna set the damn roof on fire!”

Ricky Warwick from Black Star Riders comments: “We are absolutely delighted to be special guests to our good friends Saxon at their Braehead Arena show. Glasgow is very dear to us and I personally … have a huge history with the City! Can’t wait to see you all. This will be epic!”

Details Of New Album “Transition State” Posted By Oz

Finnish cult heavy metal band Oz is back! More than five years after the re-start of the career with “Burning Leather,” the band led by founding member and drummer Mark Ruffneck finally delivers the anticipated new studio album (the first with all new songs since 1991!), entitled “Transition State.” The album will be released via AFM Records on October 20th (EU) and October 27th (USA).

Oz doesn’t fail to impress with thirteen cracking and fresh, traditional metal tracks of immensely high quality. Even though Ruffneck is the last remaining member left from the original line-up, Oz are as strong as ever and continue to haunt you with the relentless, uncompromising sound they are known for!

New Song “Burning Leather” Posted By Savage Master

Kentucky traditional metal act Savage Master issued a new single entitled “Burning Leather.” The song will appear on the band’s upcoming new mini-LP/EP “Creature of the Flames,” which drops on October 13th via Skol Records/High Roller Records.

“Creature of the Flames” was recorded by Michael Kent O’Bryan at Wax And Tape Studios. It was produced by Adam Neal with executive production and mastering by Bart Gabriel. More information on the EP is expected soon.

Refreshed “We Bleed Metal 17” To Be Issued By Chastain

U.S. metal veterans Chastain will release a refreshed version of “We Bleed Metal” (originally released in 2015) entitled “We Bleed Metal 17” on August 25th via Pure Steel Records.

“We Bleed Metal 17” features the same drums and vocals as the original, but it features 100% new and completely different music that creates a different sound and feel with a very live sound nearer to an actual live concert.

Returning vocalist Leather Leone adds: “This is my favorite Chastain release since ‘Mystery of Illusion’!”

Not only the sound was improved and partially re-recorded, but also the track list is re-arranged and new cover artwork was added.

Upheaval Wins Wacken Metal USA Boston Round

Wacken Metal Battle USA is proud to announce Boston round 3 winner Upheaval. The band will now join previous round 1 and 2 winners Coffin Birth and Goblet at the city final being held on April 19th at Once Somerville.

Boston round 3 was held on Tuesday, March 29th along with other competing bands Lung Leather, Birnam Wood, Concilium. The winners of the Boston final will join Philadelphia round winners Power Theory and Corpse Hoarder at the national final (city and date to be determined). Remaining rounds are as follows:

New Track “Rotten To The Core” Premiered By Lita Ford

American vocalist/guitarist Lita Ford premiered the new track “Rotten to the Core” over at Noisy at this location (also in the player below). The song is taken from the upcoming new album “Time Capsule,” which is set for release via SPV/Steamhammer on April 15, 2016.

The very special and unusual recording turns back the clock to a time when honest, down-to-earth rock music was still handmade and recorded without digital tricks and contraptions. “Time Capsule” is a “throwback” record that boasts identifiable voices and brilliant players jamming without any planning or pressure. Some of the album’s guest appearances come from: Billy Sheehan (bass), Rodger Carter (drums), Dave Navarro (mandolin), Jeff Scott Soto (vocals), Rick Nielsen and Robin Zander (backing vocals) and Gene Simmons (bass).
