Blaze Bayley Announces Iron Maiden Anniversary Shows

Blaze Bayley, singer with Iron Maiden from 1994 to 1999, announces that he will be playing a special Iron Maiden setlist at selected festival appearances in 2019. Choosing songs from his era with the band, these shows will celebrate 25 years since Blaze joined Iron Maiden. This will be the first and last opportunity to see such a setlist.

Blaze, who releases a new album and DVD, Live In France, on March 1st, and has just returned from a successful stint touring Latin America, sees this as the perfect opportunity to celebrate his time in Maiden which was such a positive experience and influence on his career as a whole.

Blaze has this to say, “25 years ago my great adventure with Iron Maiden began. It was a wonderful five years in my career and something I’m very proud of. Since then I have toured almost every year, and made 11 studio albums and three live albums. Recently, many fans have asked me to perform songs from the two albums I recorded with Iron Maiden, so this year to celebrate that magical time, I’m doing a full set of my favourite songs from the X-Factor and Virtual XI albums at festivals. My voice has developed and changed since my time as lead vocalist with Iron Maiden. Now I feel I’m singing better than ever, so I’m very excited about singing those old songs with the voice I have now.”

These festivals will feature a special Iron Maiden setlist from Blaze Bayley:

June 6 – Sweden Rock – Sweden
June 14 – Rock The Coast – Spain
July 27 – Headbangers Open Air – Germany
August 9 – Mannried Open Air – Switzerland
August 10 – Dark River Festival – Finland

The band at these shows will be Blaze’s regular touring and recording outfit taken from British band Absolva, plus Iced Earth bassist / Absolva guitarist Luke Appleton. The lineup is as follows:

Chris Appleton – guitar and backing vocals
Luke Appleton – guitar and backing vocals
Martin Mcnee – drums
Karl Schramm – bass and backing vocals

Chris Appleton adds, “Normally when we perform as Blaze’s band we are a four-piece including Blaze, so just myself on lead guitar and that really works for us. But for these Maiden sets, we think it’s really cool to bring in my brother Luke as second guitarist to enhance the Maiden feel. It’s an honour for us to play these songs with Blaze, increasingly recognised as an important chapter in Maiden’s history.”

Helloween Announces New Studio Album And Live CD/DVD Package

German power metal legends Helloween has announced that they will be releasing a live CD/DVD package of their recent “Pumpkins United” tour next year, with a new studio album to follow in 2020. An update from the group reads thusly:

“A very special summer season, not only due to the tropical heat, is slowly coming to an end: Festivals have been rocked so hard that we would’ve been sweating even if mercury hadn’t been on a permanent high. Among the massive Pumpkins United World Tour’s open air highlights were, of course, the headline slots at Wacken, Barcelona’s Rock Fest and Masters of Rock – but also the mega gigs with Iron Maiden at Sweden Rock Festival and Florence’s Firenze Rocks in June were definitely shows we’ll remember for all eternity. Thanks to everyone who has been with us until now!

“Fortunately the tour is by no means over, and dates in the US and Canada are next on the schedule – there will also be, due to the tremendous demand, additional dates in Latin America to follow: And as first class support, no other than Kreator and Arch Enemy will be firing up the stages for the Pumpkins! Final shows with the full United cast will take place at the end of 2018 with a right royal farewell blast: In Hamburg, right where all the madness started in 1984, Pumpkins United will burn down the house with the tour’s last show in the legendary Sporthalle on December 22nd.

“For those, who mysteriously missed the tour – but also for everyone, who has been a part of it and would love to revisit those unique nights, the boys have recorded the very best moments. Goose bump inducing footage of the Pumpkins United world tour, which has been reveled as “tour of the year” by fans and press everywhere, will be released as a live CD as well as on DVD and Blu-ray at the beginning of 2019, so that those nights can be celebrated over and over without even having to leave the sofa.

“As we are reeling from Wacken and preparing for the upcoming show in Bamberg, those maniacs are already launching the next sensation: For starters, Nuclear Blast has insisted to keep the band on their roster for a few more years, and – double bass drum roll – there will be a brand-new studio album with Kiske and Hansen. With the band’s songwriting trio of Weikath, Hansen and Deris retreating to the studio together with these two exceptional singers in 2019, it’s clear that the album scheduled for 2020 will be no less than epic.”

Ancient Gearing Up For Latin American Tour Dates

Reactivated Norwegian group Ancient just announced their cities and dates for a Latin American tour kicking off on September 7th in Mexico. Frontman Zel stated:

“We are very excited and proud to announce the Ancient tour in Latin America in September. This has in many ways been a dream come true for us, to finally tour this corner of the world. The tour that took place in 2007 was not with a full band line-up and I was not even there myself, but this time we will bring the most powerful and energetic line up Ancient has ever had, with Mr. Nick Barker himself on the drums!

“A lot of fans from countries like Honduras, Puerto Rico, Bolivia, Venezuela and especially Brazil, have been writing to us asking why we will not visit these places during the tour. The thing is, that it does not depend on the band, we would play in every single country if we had the chance. These decisions are always made by the booking agency and the local promoters in each country. Sometimes the expenses (especially with travelling) are simply too high to make it happen, but we will do our best to return again with an even bigger tour next time! Let’s keep the Ancient spirit alive!”

De La Tierra Releasing New Album “II”

Latin American metal group De La Tierra has announced plans to release second studio album, “II,” on November 18th via Sony Music Latin. Fans can now pre-order the record right here.

De La Tierra is comprised of some of Latin America’s most talented metal musicians, including Brazilian guitarist Andreas Kisser (Sepultura), Argentine singer/guitarist Andres Gimenez (A.N.I.M.A.L.), Argentine bassist Sr. Flavio (Los Fabulosos Cadillacs) and Cuban/Mexican drummer Alex Gonzalez (Maná).

Today, De La Tierra releases the upcoming record’s first new song, “Puro,” which can be streamed below.

“Our first album was self-produced,” says drummer Alex Gonzalez. “This second album we had the awesome opportunity, honor and privilege to work with Ross Robinson. He produced and really captured and brought out the best of all of us. It was very positive and challenging, but at the same time he made us work hard and give 100% all the time. He really helped us to find our sound and voice.”

The band’s sophomore album was recorded with Robinson in Los Angeles. “All 4 of us listen to so much music and different styles that all of that information brings a lot to the table once we start writing music,” Gonzalez adds. “It’s so awesome that a band like DLT, that is a heavy/metal band, can bring so many different styles and sounds of heavy metal to our music, but at the same time we include rhythms, melodies and lyrics from Latin America.”

Xandria Comments On Upcoming Album “Theater Of Dimensions”

Xandria’s new album “Theater Of Dimensions” will be released worldwide on January 27th, 2017 via Napalm Records. The band comments:

“After the release of ‘Sacrificium’ we embarked on our longest tour so far. Over 150 shows that took us around the globe. Through so many different countries and diverse cultures. Through so many different, yet inspiring dimensions.

“We brought back plenty of memories, sometimes just bits and pieces, but those stuck to our heads. And it made us see who we are and where we wanted to take our music. Made us fearless. Made us push our boundaries once more. Made us cross some so-called genre defining borders. Made us bundle all our trademarks and take them to the next level.

“All this makes the most colourful Xandria album so far. It contains our most heavy and most emotional moments. Again, producer Joost van den Broek did a phenomenal job capturing the atmosphere down to every detail. ‘A Theater of Musical Dimensions.’ Can’t wait to share the songs with you…”

Antimatter Posts 2015 Recap, Announces Upcoming Activity

Mick Moss from Antimatter just checked in with the following recap of the year and announcement about upcoming activity:

“Hello all! Another year, another ‘wow was that really a year?’ 2015 saw the release of Antimatter’s 6th studio album ‘The Judas Table,’ probably the most labour-intensive process so far, but it was worth it! So glad to finally get those songs out of my head and into the world! Thanks to all the session musicians who helped that happen!

“This year was also (thanks to Aftermath Music) full of dabblings in the live domain, with two full tours (‘Leaving Eden Live Part 2’ and ‘The Judas Tour Part 1’) and no fewer than 7 festivals. Somehow I also found the time to fit in 5 solo Acoustic Songbook gigs as well. I’m loving those acoustic solo gigs right now, and I’m relishing the chance to play live some of the music that really has inspired me over the years.

“Oh yeah, and there’s also the not-so-small matter of the video to ‘Stillborn Empires,’ thanks to Tomfoolery Pictures for the stunning work on that one! What a year!

“On to next year…. I’ll be taking the ‘Acoustic Evening of Antimatter’ shows to Latin America (so far Mexico and Colombia, but waiting on more dates for that) and Russia (dates to be announced soon!) as well as taking the electric band to Russia for shows in Moscow and St Petersburg. Also, we will be playing electric in Camden, London on January 9th in a rare UK appearance. ‘The Judas Tour Part 2’ is gearing up too!

“And in the studio … I got the chance to recently take a listen to the mix of the track I sang on for the Trees Of Eternity album. It’s called ‘Condemned To Silence’ and its turned out great!! It should see the light of day soon! (Trees Of Eternity is the new project of Swallow The Sun’s Juha with vocalist Aleah and Katatonia’s Norman brothers).

“Also, I’ve been waiting for this one for a while… I am proud to finally announce that in 2016 I will record and release my first solo album by name. The album ‘Remember Yesterday’, as it is tentatively titled, is a collection of music that has inspired me throughout my life and from a very early age, re-imagined by myself in my own certain style. It is quite strange to look at the list of artists who’s music has made the list… more on that closer to the release date.

“As always, thanks to the fans everywhere who have continued to support, who have found something in the music and lyrics that they connect to. Have a great Christmas and New Year with the ones you love and see you somewhere somehow in 2016!”
