Sludgehammer Posts “Carrion Eater” Music Video

Set to unleash debut full-length album “The Fallen Sun” officially on June 10th, Toronto, ON’s Sludgehammer today posted a new music video for the track “Carrion Eater.” Guitarist Jeff Wilson comments:

“Sludgehammer is proud to present ‘Carrion Eater’ as our first music video from ‘The Fallen Sun.’ This is one of the first songs we wrote for the record and it has become one of our favorites. It was an ambitious track to create as we were trying to combine a lot of different musical elements into a cohesive song. We eventually got it to the point where it is now, an energetic, venom spittin’, leg stompin’, headcrusher! It was a lot of hard work creating this record, but also a lot of fun. We’re hoping everyone can enjoy it like we do.”

The album was self-produced by the band and mixed by guitarist Tyler Williams and mastered by world renowned producer / engineer Lasse Lammert (Gloryhammer, Alestorm, Teramaze) at LSD Studio in Germany. The track listing is as follows:

1. Demons From The Woodwork (4:02)
2. Intestines Entwined (5:02)
3. The Black Abyss (6:29)
4. Ectogenesis (4:34)
5. Carrion Eater (5:56)
6. Consuming Afterbirth (4:34)
7. Carnivorous Forest (5:08)
8. Utopian (5:45)
9. Revolting (4:46)
10. Organ Harvester (4:51)
11. Casualties (4:34)

Scythia Posts New Track “Laugh Of The Tsar”

Progressive/power metal four-piece Scythia recently announced the release of fourth independent full-length album, “Lineage,” hitting stores this Wednesday, May 4th. Pre-orders are up here.

Today the band releases a new track from the upcoming album. Check out “Laugh of the Tsar” below. Scythia guitarist and vocalist Dave Khan states:

“‘Laugh of the Tsar’ was written eight years ago and on Lineage we FINALLY give life to this surreal whirlwind of a symphonic metal track. From beginning to end, the song charges ahead with a fast-tempo onslaught of melodic death metal against an orchestral backdrop with only a brief respite in the middle to showcase Scythia’s ability to weave beautiful slavic-style folk music into a crushing metal track.”

Although the band primarily self-produced the album, “Lineage” features engineering from Nino Laurenne (Firewind, Finntroll, Wintersun, Ensiferum) and Lasse Lammert (Alestorm, Gloryhammer, Powerwolf), and mastering from Svante Forsback (Rammstein, Volbeat, Firewind, Apocalyptica). Nino Laurenne is also responsible for mixing duties on the album. “Lineage” was recorded at LSD Studios in Lubeck, Germany and Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland.

Nailed To Obscurity Issues 2013 Year-End Recap

Nailed To Obscurity has issued the following year-end recap and update about upcoming activity:

“An eventful year comes to an end: first of all, we want to wish all of you a very happy New Year and the best possible start into 2014! Many thanks for your great support!

“For us 2013 was a very eventful year. We put finishing touches on our latest album ‘Opaque,’ recorded it with Lasse Lammert at LSD Studio and finally released it via Apostasy Records, which is the perfect partner for us!

“Beyond all that, we had our first show with Raimund in July followed by the Dark Season Tour together with our friends Dicentress. It was a blast and we’ll surely never forget all those great impressions.

“With the beginning of 2014, we’re going to work on some new material. It might seem a little early for one or another but those who know us also know that we’re taking a lot of time to create our music and since we don’t want you waiting another six years we’ll kick things off a little earlier.

“From midyear on, you’ll have the chance to see us live again. Updates will be posted here as soon as possible! Along these lines, happy New Year everybody!”
