Today Is The Day Posts “Brutally Delicious” Video Clip

From amidst an ongoing North American tour, Today Is The Day hit Richmond, Virginia early for a pre-show filming of an episode of the ongoing “Brutally Delicious” video series.

Leading off with an extensive interview with Today Is The Day cult leader, Steve Austin – which includes tales of being bitten by cannibalistic fans, procuring overnight medical treatment on foreign soil, on-stage electrocution and bowel movements, and oh, so much more – the attention then shifts to the band prepping and grilling a spread of rib-eye steaks, lamb chops and potatoes on the open flame.

Among many other excellent quotes issued during the actual preparation of the provisions, Austin offers “If the food is not somewhat attacking you then you have not reached flavor nexus.” Check out the clip below.

Ides Of Gemini Announces Record Store Day Vinyl Release

In less than two weeks, Ides Of Gemini will uncork two new ethereal sound conjurings in the form of “Cathage” and “Strange Fruit.” Set for release via Magic Bullet Records on April 18th, 2015 in honor of Record Store Day, the tracks will come available in digital and seven-inch formats.

The lingering tones of “Cathage” inhabit Side A. It begins with a doomy, acoustic summoning of the spirits of a barren world, written and recorded during the “Old World New Wave” (Neurot/Sige) sessions.

Side B is one of an emotionally stirring cover of “Strange Fruit.” Written as a poem by Abel Meeropol in 1937, and set to music famously by Billie Holiday in 1939, the song stems from Meeropol’s original protest piece against the racial lynchings that marred the early 20th century in America.

All copies are pressed on limited edition, one-time-only runs of clear and black vinyl. The title goes immediately out of print after Record Store Day. Exclusive cover art by Jas Helena rounds out this dauntingly monolithic slab of wax.

Mount Salem confirm May tour; shows with Saint Vitus!

– April 7th, 2014 –

Chicago, IL’s Mount Salem are preparing to embark on a headlining tour in May! The tour will play select cities between Chicago and Los Angeles, and includes shows in New Mexico and Arizona with Mount Salem opening up for Saint Vitus!

Popular heavy music blog, Loudwire.com, recently featured an interview with vocalist/organ player Emily Kopplin as part of their “Vital Vinyl” column. The column highlights the cover art, the band’s fondness of vinyl, and more. Fans can read the entire feature and view photos of “Endless” on vinyl at Loudwire.com.

“Whether you’re a fan of psychedelic rock, stoner rock or doom metal, there’s a little something for everybody on Mount Salem’s ‘Endless.’” Loudwire.com

“Debut album Endless is an absolute monolith of a record that combines the sludgy, droning guitars of Iommi’s finest vintage with Emily’s shimmering vocals and epic Jon Lord-style organ rushes. It’s retro, yes, but it also sounds too exciting to be dismissed as simply revisionism.” Metal Hammer UK

“you do not want to pass this one up. Mount Salem have managed to set themselves apart with well-written songs, haunting vocals, killer riffs, and the right type of mood that is essential for crafting memorable metal.” Verbicide.com

“For Mount Salem that uniqueness is unequivocally the monstrous vocal abilities of frontwoman Emily Kopplin – like holy balls, she has some pipes.” DeadRhetoric.com

Mount Salem started writing music together in the summer of 2012 and released their first EP, Endless, in the spring of 2013. The band puts a strong emphasis on tone and feeling in both their songs and live performances alike. Most of the band switched from their normal instruments and picked up new ones for this band and the result was much more natural than they had hoped for.

Taking influence from the classics like Black Sabbath and Pentagram, they play loud, heavy rock and roll using all vintage gear. Throwing their own twist of dark and mysterious doom into the music, they invite the listener to step into their sinister realm. The imagery in the lyrics will take you on a ride in which you won’t know whether to be scared or grab a sword and join the battle.

Endless was released on March 3rd, 2014 via Metal Blade Records and features two brand-new tracks not featured on the original EP that was self-released by the band in 2012. Fans can stream the first single, ‘Lucid’, as well as order the album on CD, vinyl, or digitally HERE.

Mount Salem is:
Emily Kopplin – vocals & organ
Cody Davidson – drums
Mark Hewett – bass
Kyle Morrison – guitars
