Black Tusk Premiere New Track “Agali” – Set August Release For New Album “T.C.B.T.”

Black Tusk‘s new effort “T.C.B.T.” will be out on August 17 via Season Of Mist. Today the band debut a new track from the album, entitled “Agali“, which you can stream below.

Explain Black Tusk:

“We decided to entitle this record ‘TCBT.’ Its a play on TCB, taking care of business, add a T to the end and its Taking Care of Black Tusk. Its an idea, a slogan if you will that James and Athon came up with some years ago, and since his passing and essentially the reformation of this band we found it fitting for a title.

We turned inward after ‘Pillars Of Ash‘. Corey came on board and we did the tours to support that record playing the songs that we had written with Athon, Then we took some time off and learned how to write with a new member, we took our time and worked out our ideas, we brought new ideas and talents into the fold. This record is something that we are truly proud of, its the culmination of two years of reworking ourselves as a band.

We’ve closed one chapter of this band are starting anew, we are Taking Care of Black Tusk. We recorded this record as a three piece and are going to tour to perform it as a four piece. With a nod to our past and with the knowledge of lessons learned and experience gained, we are heading back out full throttle with a new energy and a new band. When you listen, you will hear Black Tusk, not the old as was, but a new Black Tusk keeping tour roots and carving a new path.”

Adding about the newly premiered song:

“Simply put, Agali means ‘to return.’ I learned of the word from the bandmates of Victoria Scalisi, she passed away from cancer this year along with another of our close friends Jake Trout. Victoria and her bands inspired us to do what we do today and her and Jake were family to us.

This song to us is about passing on and your spirit and energy returning itself into the lives of the people who were close to you and even the lives of complete strangers. Our time here is short and when our bodies pass on, hopefully the good things that we have done and the ideas we have spread will return. So this song is dedicated to the memories of Jake and Victoria, may you always return.”

Former Warbringer Drummer Nic Ritter Has Died

Former Warbringer drummer Nic Ritter has died.

Shares the band’s vocalist John Kevill:

“A couple days ago we got some tragic news. Our former drummer, Nic Ritter, is dead. He passed either Wednesday or Thursday and I got the word Thursday night. I know few details of how he died. I had not seen Nic in many years, though I had spoken to him a few times fairly recently. I always will to regret that I never saw him again, and we never really caught up on all our old times traveling the world. Nic played approximately 400-450 shows with Warbringer between June 2008 through January 2011, the period where we were never off the road. His drum performance on “Waking into Nightmares” pushed the standard of technicality and musicianship in Warbringer to a new level and helped to shape the identity of the band to what it is today. He was an absolutely stellar player who in my opinion is a true innovator in thrash metal drumming. Sadly, “Waking into Nightmares” is, to the best of my knowledge, his sole recorded musical legacy. Shame that he never played on another record, at least I know he was very proud of our work on that one.
Rest easy, old buddy
–Kevill”

Nic Ritter’s cause of death was not revealed yet though his family members have referred to his death as being “unexpected” via social media.

Tyrannosorceress Posts New Song “In The Light Of The Sabbat Moon”

Today, “In The Light Of The Sabbat Moon” from Dallas-based black metal horde Tyrannosorceress has come online, offering a taste of what to expect from the band’s impending “Shattering Light’s Creation” debut LP.

Offers Tyrannosorceress on the new singleL “An invocation of the Tyrant Sorceress, Jeh-Az-Kali, Lilitu-Jahi, the femine aspect of all creation and destruction. They are one in the same and cannot exist without each other, infinitely cyclical.

“In venomous congress within the sabbat dream, she opens the gateway to worlds in-between. Melding the conscious and unconscious self, to create one’s own reality. By this we become deified as God, that is I. It is the blood within us that propels our path into this circle of being.

“It was gifted to us by those who descended from great heights long ago. This work is an epitaph to the knowledge bestowed upon us so long ago. For in the dark and hidden reaches, the truly ascended are of Hell. For we are all as gateways, and Lilith is the key.”

Lyric Video For New Song “The Incredible Machine” Issued BY SynaptiK

Norwich, U.K. progressive metal act SynaptiK is launching the sophomore studio album entitled “Justify & Reason” today via Divebomb Records (Snakes On Fire in the U.K.). The follow-up to the 2014 debut “The Mechanisms of Consequence” can be ordered via the band’s official webstore in various packages. Along with the release of “Justify & Reason,” SynaptiK is premiering a lyric video for the new son “The incredible Machine” in the player below.

The creative process for “Justify & Reason” was a great, positive experience. Singer John Knight commented: “We have honed our skills and built on the knowledge gained from the experiences recording the debut album and channeled these into ‘Justify and Reason.’ The way we wrote and recorded this album seemed to work a hell of a lot better for us this time. A lot more time spent on pre-studio recording and getting everything sounding right, working on guitar harmonies, new drum patterns that fit the riffs and feel of the songs better. So when it came to recording it, it was quite a nice chilled but yet focused time, we got the whole album recorded in just a week.”

With the new album out, SynaptiK’s plans are clear — the idea is to promote the new material live as much as possible. According to Knight, “It’s always tough with the lead up to realizing an album and this is the biggest push we have given an album, it deserves it, it’s a great album, I know everyone says that but I truly believe this and I really hope it goes on to win Synaptik more fans worldwide. It’s a massive world and there are so many metal heads out there that I’m certain will really appreciate the songs on ‘J&R,’ they just need to get a chance to hear them. So the aim is to continue to push the album as hard and as far as we can, we are also looking for festivals outside the UK to give us a chance to play these songs live, so please share our videos and sounds, web pages and let all your friends know about us. Onward.”

“Justify & Reason” ventures into the dark, labyrinthine corridors of the human psyche to examine the relationship between inner emotions and society at large ? universal themes that transcend cultural and national boundaries. Each song has a different feel, they are their own monster, the lyrics reflect these different moods, the effects of anti-psychotic medication, regret, emotional abuse/control, and the human brain and the mysteries it holds.

Earthrise Parts With Bassist Andy Rutledge

Minneapolis-based sludge group Earthrise – remember when we covered this group for an Unearthing way back when? – is now parting ways with the band’s bassist. Earthrise comments:

“Hi friends. Big update on our end. We regret to inform you all that our bassist/brother Andy Rutledge is leaving Earthrise. For the better part of a few years we’ve struggled with staying active through our busy schedules, and for Andy, it’s time to move on and work on some new, non-musical endeavors.

“We’ve had some incredible times with Andy and will definitely still be tapping his knowledge for tone and gear suggestions. More importantly, we will miss his irrational love of Guns N’ Roses, the raddest band van ever, and his extreme irritation at our juvenile attitudes of annoying him while he was sleeping (We’ve changed, promise!).

“With that said, the rest of us are becoming quite active again and we’re officially on the search for a new bassist. Here’s an off-the-cuff list of what we’re looking for:

– 4 or 5 string bass, tuned to Drop G#
– Powerful amp + cab, ability to dial in tone to our specific application
– Effects, specifically fuzz/distortion, delay, reverb, and octave/pitch shifter
– Able to practice 1-2 times per week, local shows and short weekend jaunts on occasion
– Able to help pay for practice space rent, recording and merch costs, etc.
– A familiarity and enjoyment of the specific genres that we play, so that we’re all on the same page in regards to the stylistic approach
– Willingness and ability to work on/learn some of our old (and new!) material outside of practice
– Be a generally cool person

“Get at us if you or someone you know is interested. We still have plans to deliver some heavy riffs to you all as soon as possible. Thanks!!”

Skelethal To Release New Album Next Year

Hells Headbangers is proud to announce the signing of Skelethal for the band’s debut full-length album, whose title will soon be revealed.

Hailing from the now-fertile French death metal scene, Skelethal comprise two diehard death metal addicts, Gui Haunting and Jon Whiplash, who decided in early 2012 to form a band mainly influenced by the genre’s classics: Entombed, Carnage, Morbid Angel, Pestilence, Autopsy, and Death among others.

With that foundation firmly in place, Skeletal unleashed the “Morbid Ovation: demo in 2012 and then two critically acclaimed EPs in 2014, “Deathmanicvs Revelation” and “Interstellar Knowledge of the Purple Entity,” which were later compiled onto CD in 2015 as “Morbid Revelations.”

A statement from the band reads: “It’s with substantial pleasure that Skelethal announces the signing with Hells Headbangers for the release of ourfirst full-length album. A blast of nine morbid songs written and played with devotion to cosmic horrors and inspired by pioneers death metal acts – expect raw and filthy tunes ordered from beyond and hammered without mercy. More info to come in early 2017.”
