Demon Lung Releasing New Album “A Dracula”

Candlelight Records today confirms June 16th as the North American release date for “A Dracula,” the second full-length album from Las Vegas-based doom metal band, Demon Lung.

Produced by Billy Anderson (Neurosis, High On Fire, Eyehategod etc.), the album will be available for preorder via Amazon, iTunes and physical retailers beginning May 26th and is available for preorder now at BandCamp.

In mid-December, Demon Lung began a second pilgrimage to Oregon to work with Anderson. At the journey’s conclusion, eight dark hymns became the “A Dracula” storyline. Using Juan López Moctezuma’s 1977 horror film, “Alucarda,” as the album’s muse, the audio is packaged with unique original art by illustrator Joshua Foster (Pallbearer).

Drummer Jeremy Brenton notes, “When we started the writing process, we happened to be deep into an Alucarda obsession. [Vocalist] Shanda [Fredrick] sat down and made an outline for her take on the film and we all started crafting songs to flow with it. Fitting the mood of each riff and melody with the narrative was challenging but it is the most satisfying way for us to write.”

Fredrick adds, “Alucarda is a more relatable story for me than our last album’s subject matter; which made writing a lot more fun this time around. The heroine in this story is the daughter of Satan, who happens to fall in love with the purest of souls in the convent she resides. She coaxes this soul over to the dark, with only intentions of love but in doing so she dooms her to death by the hands of the nuns. The anger consumes her and she uses her dark powers to resurrect her love and together they kill the convent and then the world. So like I said… it’s a lot more fun this time around.”

The track listing is as follows:

1. Rursumque Alucarda
2. Behold, The Daughter
3. I Am Haunted
4. Gypsy Cursem
5. Deny The Savior
6. Mark Of Jubilee
7. Rursumque Adracula
8. Raped By The Serpent

GYPSYHAWK announce early fall tour with Scorpion Child, Kadavar, Wilson and Mothership!

– August 16th, 2013 –

Gypsyhawk will be hitting the road again next month with Scorpion Child, Kadavar, Wilson and Mothership. The tour begins on September 16 in Chicago and is scheduled to wrap up on October 5 in Brooklyn, NY. The confirmed list of dates is available ONLINE and below.

Gypsyhawk bassist/vocalist Eric Harris comments: “Along our traveling trials of touring, we happened across an insatiable city known as Texarkana, AR. It was there that we were harbored and befriended by Joshua Foster, who introduced us to some good ass, long term friends. You may know them as Scorpion Child and Mothership! We’re SO excited! We’ve never toured with so many close friends before. And we’ve just recently had the pleasure of sharing the stage with those vintage Kraut rockin’ mother fuckers in Kadavar. Y’all wanna know what a real party is like? Come to one these shows and DEFEND GOOD TIMES FOR LIFE! D.E.O!”

Guitarist Ben Robbins will be performing with Gypsyhawk on the Scorpion Child tour. The Los Angeles-based shredder has previously performed with the band Jameson.

Gypsyhawk plays electrifying, bullshit-free 70s rock and are a breath of fresh air in heavy music. Marinating their wares in whiskey and weed, they hurl out blistering riffs and irresistible hooks and grooves on “Revelry & Resilience,” their second full-length and Metal Blade debut. “It’s music for girls to shake their asses to and dudes to bang their heads,” states vocalist/bassist Eric Harris. “It’s good-time rock and roll, and we don’t take ourselves too seriously, but at the same time we’re not one-dimensional. I like to think there’s something for everyone in our music.”

Gypsyhawk recently revealed a new video: “Silver Queen”, which can be viewed at The band’s previous two music videos, “State Lines” and “Hedgeking” are also available there. Gypsyhawk’s latest album, “Revelry & Resilience,” is available worldwide now on Metal Blade Records.

“You won’t find a more charismatic band in their subgenre.” Decibel Magazine

“far more stylistic and musical flare than most, dancing madly backwards with the ghosts of classic Allman Brothers and Thin Lizzy while their dual-harmony axe-attack take care of business like Bachman-Turner Overdrive” Zero Tolerence Magazine

“Pasadena’s Gypsyhawk deftly blend metallic guitars and fantasy/science-obsessed lyrics with a rock and roll boogie swagger.” LA Weekly
