Dreadnought Streams New Track “Within Chanting Waters”

Dreadnought, the Denver co-ed foursome whose sophomore album “Bridging Realms” was released in 2015 (reviewed here), now returns with “A Wake In Sacred Waves” on October 6th via Sailor Records.

Check out the first new music from the four-song, 51-minute “A Wake In Sacred Waves” album with a stream of the advance track “Within Chanting Waters” below.

“Each album is loosely based on an element,” explains singer/guitar player/flautist Kelly Schilling. “’Lifewoven’ was earth, ‘Bridging Realms’ was ether, and this is our water album. You could think of them like Zelda temples. We wanted to make this a little bit darker and heavier because we were going through heavier parts of our lives. This record tells a story about the process of life and death. A sea creature evolves into an apex predator, takes over everything, and then falls from grace. It mirrors humanity’s own existential struggle.”

The band, which features drummer/saxophone player Jordan Clancy, bass player Kevin Handlon and singer/keyboard player Lauren Vieira, recorded the new album at The Boar’s Nest (Salt Lake City) with SubRosa’s Andy Patterson recording and mixing the collection. Catch the band live on these dates:

July 19 – Covington, KY @ Madison Live w/ Winterhymn, Automaton
July 20 – St Louis, MO @ The Sinkhole w/ Path of Might, Dracla, Dibiase
July 29 – Denver, CO @ Moe’s BBQ w/ Free Slamander Exhibit (members of Sleepy Time Gorilla Museum)

Adrenaline Mob singer Russell Allen has now issued the below statement regarding the traffic accident that claimed the life of his band’s bassist David Zablidowsky:

“Yesterday I was involved in an accident that took the life of my dear friend and band mate David Z Rock and left 3 of our crew in critical condition. I’m overwhelmed with sorrow. I am so grateful for the out pouring of love we have received from around the world. Please continue to pray for David‘s family during this difficult time. And those in critical condition. I want to personally thank Marine Lance Cpl. Patrick Dumon for his bravery in assisting me pull our Driver Jason from the wreckage and for attending to his wounds. And for helping me to secure and attend to Jane once I was able to get her free from the fire. Without his selfless act of courage I would not have been able to get them clear of the RV before it was engulfed in flames. On behalf of my band and crew I thank you.”

Every Time I Die Releases “Map Change” Video

After that metallic rite of passage of being banned from the House Of Blues, today the Buffalo-based hardcore band Every Time I Die shares a powerful video for latest single “Map Change.” The track appears on 2016 album “Low Teens,” which was nominated for the Alternative Press Music Award for Album of the Year.

The “Map Change” video offers a cinéma vérité look at the hometown of vocalist Keith Buckley, guitarists Andy Williams and Jordan Buckley, drummer Daniel Davison, and bassist Steve Micciche. In creating the video, director Kyle Thrash spent a mid-winter week in Buffalo and emerged with a bleak yet beautiful, Herzog-esque portrait of American despair.

With help from the band, Thrash documented the everyday lives of the city’s locals and found his subjects open to sharing their most intimate moments. As a result, “Map Change” gives an up-close look at life in trailer parks and strip clubs, at butcher shops and Bingo games. Moving from abandoned churches to high school wrestling matches to roadside fistfights with a whiplash urgency, the video captures the dead-of-winter feeling of the world quite possibly coming to an end.
