U.D.O. Reveals New Album, “Steelfactory” Details, Posts New Video, “One Heart One Soul” Online

German metal gods U.D.O. will release their new album “Steelfactory” on August 31st worldwide via AFM Records. An official video for the new song “One Heart One Soul” is available for streaming below.

With “Steelfactory,” U.D.O return to their core competence, clearly influenced by their past shows with Dirkschneider, the songs in their rousingly simple straightness have a hymn character, as it is only known from the past.

“Steelfactory” has become a timeless metal album and thus the impressive statement of a master of his craft. With its earthy, punchy and handmade sound – with the participation of the Danish producer Jacob Hansen (among others Volbeat) – “Steelfactory” meets the nerve of the time, which may be triggered again since the successful Dirkschneider tour worldwide.

Keyboardist Vikram Shankar joins progressive metal band Redemption

– April 11th, 2018 –

Keyboardist Vikram Shankar has joined progressive metal band Redemption. Nick van Dyk – the band’s guitarist and songwriter, who has also played the majority of keyboards on Redemption‘s seven studio albums – comments: “We haven’t had a dedicated keyboard player since before 2011′s ‘This Mortal Coil‘. We were very happy and fortunate to have had Greg Hosharian in the band for some time, but when Greg left to focus on composing and conducting classical music, we decided to continue without replacing him and I returned to playing keys in addition to guitar. I’m comfortable enough handling things, but at the same time, from a performance and also from a compositional standpoint, it’s always been in the back of my mind that having a dedicated keyboardist allows us to do more, sound better, and grow.”

Van Dyk continues: “Almost as soon as Tom [Englund, vocals] joined Redemption, he introduced me to Vikram by way of Vik’s YouTube channel, where Vik showcases both original compositions as well as stunning arrangements of some great progressive metal songs. I was utterly floored. This is a guy who has perfect pitch, tremendous feeling to his playing, and is absolutely a virtuoso – I mean he literally plays blindfolded to perfect his technique. I’ve never seen anything like it. Then we spent some time together, both one on one and then with the rest of Redemption, and learned he’s a terrific guy as well as a terrific musician. He came out to LA for a few days and spent some time adding some parts to our otherwise-finished upcoming release, Long Night’s Journey into Day, and it was evident that not only does he have technique and feel for miles to enhance our musicianship, but he and I share a similar compositional sensibility. We hear things the same way, plus Vikram adds fresh ideas and his tremendous talent as an arranger and writer. I can’t wait to involve him more in songwriting for future material, and we are all thrilled to have him join us on stage and in the studio. He’s an absolutely stunning talent.”

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to play alongside the talented folks in Redemption!” enthused Vikram. “The guys are wonderful musicians and wonderful people, and I can’t thank them enough for welcoming me into the fold as they have. Can’t wait to see and play for all the Redemption fans at Progpower USA and elsewhere, and for the future of our music and collaboration!”

Vik’s YouTube channel can be found at: youtube.com/channel/UCal7_PcromdHIiUfD_oa3Uw, and a good example of his technique and composition can be found in his Fugue in B Minor here: youtube.com/watch?v=tfVBTOJOfA8.

Already confirmed to headline ProgPower USA 2018, Redemption – featuring Tom Englund (vocals; Evergrey), Nick van Dyk (guitars and keyboards), Sean Andrews (bass), Chris Quirarte (drums), Vikram Shankar (keyboards) – will release their seventh full-length album, Long Night’s Journey into Day, this summer via Metal Blade Records. The first to be produced with Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Primal Fear, Amaranthe, Doro, etc.), Long Night’s Journey into Day also features guest guitarists Chris Poland (Megadeth, OHM) and Simone Mularoni (DGM). Mat Sinner adds: “I’m really surprised about the creativity in the band. Every band member contributes on the song writing and I’m super happy about the chosen songs and the production so far. You can expect a full energy driven metal album with a maximum attitude and raw power!”

A true rock juggernaut full of blistering guitars, pounding rhythms and haunting vocal melodies that is taking the listener on a sonic journey leading them out from the darkness and into the light. Produced by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Epica etc) and mastered by Grammy award winning Ted Jensen, “Prevail I” has undoubtedly ushered the band to a much deserved elevated hard rock status.

Now the band fronted by charismatic vocalist Kobra Paige has unveiled a brand new lyric video for the track “Prevail,” which to you can enjoy in the player below.

The band informs us: “This one’s for all the non-believers…the people on the outside and the voice inside your head that said you’d never make it out. The voice that told you to stop dreaming. The devil on your shoulder whispering ‘Go ahead and quit, you’re not good enough anyways.’

“Out with the hate and in with the love. There’s a new mantra in town and it’s slamming that shadowed voice into the ground. We will Prevail and we are never backing down!”

Evolution is inevitable and Kobra And The Lotus delivered the most powerful album to date, “Prevail I,” with “Prevail II” to complete the story in the not too distant future…

New Album “With All Their Might” Announced By Dyscarnate

UK death metal trio Dyscarnate will release the third full-length album, and first for Unique Leader Records, on September 15th. Titled “With All Their Might,” the eight-track offering was captured by Stu McKay (Ingested, Acrania et al) at Studio 6 in England and mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Ancient, Aborted, Volbeat, Evergrey et al) at Hansen Studios in Denmark.

“‘With All Their Might’ is the sound of us nailing our colors to the mast in no uncertain terms,” issues the band of their latest release. “We’ve always worked on each new album as its own entity, and feel the whole thing needs to flow as one cohesive piece. Every song has its place on the record, but the lyrics and feel of each one reflects a signature theme. We feel that while this record is the most complete thing we’ve ever done, it’s also the most varied, dynamic, and evolved we have ever been. We have written this album for only ourselves, and as a result feel we have something our fans will really connect to. Dyscarnate is now split between Shropshire, Sussex, and Amsterdam, which has meant this record has been written and recorded in a wide variety of locations. For the last two weeks of writing, we set ourselves up in a secluded farmhouse just over the Welsh border, where we worked non-stop putting the finishing touches to the demos, as well as tracking all the vocals ourselves. Inspiration has come from everywhere on the musical spectrum and beyond. We didn’t want to work within any kind of parameters, and tried things we wouldn’t have gone near in the past. Song and lyric concepts have included, among many others: existential dread, insanity, human perception, and strength of will.”

Preorder information and the first official video will be announced in the weeks to come. The album artwork and track listing can be found here:

1. Of Mice And Mountains
2. This Is Fire!
3. Iron Strengthens Iron
4. Traitors In The Palace
5. To End All Flesh Before Me
6. Backbreaker
7. All The Devils Are Here
8. Nothing Seems Right
