Wheel Posts New Music Video “Where The Pieces Lie” Online

Progressive metallers Wheel have shared the video for their new single, ‘Where The Pieces Lie’, the second track to be taken from their upcoming debut album, Moving Backwards, out February 22nd via Odyssey Music Network.

With beautifully shot black and white footage accentuating the jarring and pensive atmosphere of the track, the video sees the band perform amid violent outbursts of emotion. Throughout, intense verses build into explosive choruses, forming a fierce and unnerving work laden with suspense.

“We made the video for the song with the legendary Kakkis and Kimbe, who we have worked with several times before. We wanted to express the isolation, frustration, anger and bitterness in the lyrics through the video’s story and this was fantastically realised by Lassi Hurskainen, the video’s extremely pissed off protagonist,” the band explain.

“We wanted to juxtapose suspense with the internal struggle of our main character; who is clearly suffering and desperate for a release from his burdens. For many of us, life is turbulent, chaotic and isolating; there is nothing else to do but keep marching forwards.”

‘Where The Pieces Lie’ is the second track to be taken from their forthcoming debut album, Moving Backwards, following their debut single ‘Vultures’, which has already amassed over 250,000 streams on Spotify alone.

Insect Ark To Release Marrow Hymns Via Profound Lore This February; New Track Streaming

Combining elements of horror-?lm soundtracks, psychedelic doom, and atmospheric noise, New York City/Portland-based instrumental duo Insect Ark presents their newest record, Marrow Hymns, to be released on Profound Lore Records, February 23rd, 2018.

Check out now “In The Nest” from it below.

Marrow Hymns was recorded and mixed with engineer Ethan Donaldson at Mozart Street Studios in Brooklyn, New York over the course of eighteen months. With the two halves of INSECT ARK residing on opposite coasts, the album was largely skeletal in form upon commencement of recording. Overdubs and further writing/arrangements were done after Spungin’s return to Portland in the isolation of Schechter’s home studio. The sense of distance and vast emptiness remained intact in the songs, built out over many long nights. Marrow Hymns’ song themes of displacement, loss, and isolation are personal journals of that time period, as both members found themselves simultaneously experiencing existential crises. However, the album also tells a story of strength and determination, made from the marrow of these two women, a song for all things that struggle to survive.

“Marrow Hymns” track listing:

1. Thelema
2. Arp 9
3. In the Nest
4. Skin Walker
5. Slow Ray
6. Sea Harps
7. Tarnish
8. Windless
9. Daath

Megalith Grave Announces “From Effigies Past” Compilation

Today, Signal Rex sets October 13th as the international release date for Megalith Grave’s “From Effigies Past,” a compilation of the band’s super-rare demo tapes. Playing raw putrid black metal exclusively, this one-man band has built up a sizable discography devoted to the darkest past of the ancient black metal underground.

Strictly limited to 200 copies, the “From Effigies Past” CD compiles the demos “Insidious Dark” (2011), “Through Clandestine Thickets” (2012), and “Embittered Isolation” (2013). Totaling 14 tracks in an hour, here Megalith Grave unleashes a torrent of utterly dead, impossibly grim metal done the way in the days before social media and “diehard” vinyl, before the veil of mysticism was pulled back to reveal normal human beings.

1. Intro
2. The Retribution of Life and Death
3. As a Forlorn Shade Drifts
4. In a Time of Darkness and War
5. Decomposing in Memories
6. The Divide Between Unknown Dimensions
7. Coronation In Decay
8. Epoch of Obscurity
9. Decrepit and Forgotten
10. Foreboding Passage to Infinite Truths
11. Embittered Isolation
12. As the Cold Winds Whisper
13. Relentless Animosity Against Human Life
14. Fading Desolate Entity
