Akurion Recording Debut Album

Montreal-based Akurion has begun recording a long-awaited debut album. Vocalist Mike DiSalvo (ex-Cryptopsy) had this to say about the recording process:

“All the base tracks from the four of us are gonna be recorded live with only some overdubs added after the fact. We wanted a real earthy and deep sound from the inception of this project and we feel that jamming the tunes live in our room together, we will be able to capture the best feel and performance of these songs.”

The band entered the studio on April 14th with Alex Hebert (Ages, Empire De Mu). The album will be mixed by John Strieder of Magma Studios and will feature the great metal voices of Lord Worm (ex-Cryptopsy), Luc Lemay (Gorguts), and Jean-Marie Leblanc (Vengeful) as guest appearances.

Look for the upcoming new album to be released by the end of the year. Akurion’s base lineup consists of:

Mike DiSalvo – Vocals (Coma Cluster Void/Fireside Sessions/ex-Cryptopsy/ex-Infestation)
Rob Milley – Guitars (Neuraxis/Phobocosm(live)/Fireside Sessions/Torn Within)
Oli Pinard – Bass (Cryptopsy/Neuraxis/Vengeful)
Tommy McKinnon – Drums (Conflux/Ages/Empire De Mu/ex-Neuraxis/ex-Augury)

Dead Swords Releasing “Skeletons And Broken Souls” EP Collection

Dead Swords – the brand new New Jersey-based outfit comprised of Alex Rosamilia of The Gaslight Anthem and Corey Perez (Bottomfeeder, I Am The Avalanche, Let Me Run) – is pleased to announce its first physical release titled “Skeletons and Broken Souls,” a vinyl offering of the band’s two EPs.

Recorded with Frank Marra at North End Recording Studios, all eight songs from the group’s current catalog can be streamed and downloaded via Bandcamp here, with the full vinyl package including expanded artwork by Rosamilia himself available for purchase on Friday, May 5tb.

“I didn’t want it to be a solo-focused project that was called ‘Alex Rosamilia’,” said Rosamilia of the inception of Dead Swords. “I asked Corey [Perez] if he would want to join me because we have similar tastes on a lot of things even outside of music so I knew there would be no confusion as to the direction or aesthetic of this project.”

Dead Swords will be making a first U.S. appearance at the end of April, with more music and live dates to be announced very soon:

Hegemon Streaming “Hatred From The Core: Tempus Incognito”

Hegemon is premiering a new track taken from forthcoming album “The Hierarch,” which has been scheduled for worldwide release on the 13th of November. The French black metal veterans are streaming their venomous song “Hatred From The Core: Tempus Incognito” below. Regarding the new track, the band comments:

“We have deliberately chosen ‘Hatred From The Core: Tempus Incognito’ as the opening track. The title says it all: humanity is full of hatred from its very beginning, in its cosmic roots, and since the inception of this universe. Violence is the essence of mankind as chaos has ruled ever since the primal spark set everything alight. We have been trying hard to establish order, but that has always only led to another pandemonium. We are morally and physically corrupted from inside as we fail to harness our seething nature. We are the sons of stars.”

The album’s track listing is as follows:

1. Hatred From The Core: Tempus Incognito
2. Interpreting Signs For War: Aruspicine (streaming here)
3. Elysean Expectations, Earthly Deceptions
4. Rays Of Lie: There Will Be A Time You Will Give Anything For A Piece Of Salvation
5. Atomos: Seed Of The Quantic Gods
6. Renovatio Imperii
7. Credo Quia Absurdum (streaming here)
8. Hierarch: The Empire Of Zero

Mother Feather launch digital single and video; full length album coming 2016

– September 30th, 2015 –

Mother Feather has released the title track from their full length debut, Mother Feather! The song is available now on iTunes, and the video is streaming at metalblade.com/motherfeather. The video was directed, designed, and animated by Isaiah King (ikingdesign.com).

Vocalist Ann Courtney describes the video and song: “Mother Feather is the embodiment of your wildest inspiration. We are missionaries of pop cock rock and “Mother Feather” is our hymn. Upon hearing it at a live show in 2011, Isaiah King, our director and animator, came to us with a simple, undeniable concept: illustrate the Mother Feather live experience. Isaiah turned out to be the MVP of our artistic collaboration dream team.

The self-described ‘pop cock rock’ band has been building a loyal following in the late night New York rock scene since their inception in 2009. This fall, fans will be able to see them live during “Pop Cock Rocktober,” the first four Fridays in October at midnight at Rockwood Music Hall, including October 16th as part of the CMJ Music Marathon.

Mother Feather‘s Metal Blade debut is currently being finalized for an early 2016 release, and will feature two new tracks combined with re-mastered versions of the band’s previously released recordings, Mother Feather EP (2011), Living Breathing EP (2013). Pre-orders for the album will be online in early December.

Ann Courtney – Vocals
Elizabeth Carena – Vocals & Keyboards
Matt Basile – Bass
Chris Foley – Guitar
Gunnar Olsen – Drums
