BillyBio Posts New 360° Video “Rise And Slay” Online

BillyBio, the solo project from Biohazard guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei, has posted a new 360° video online for the song, “Rise And Slay.” The song comes from the forthcoming album, “Feed The Fire” which will be released on November 30th through AFM Records.

“I love the beginning of a band’s career when the spirit is raw and unbridled, the fire still burning strong in their hearts, you know the feeling, when everything is new and fresh AF!! I wanted to capture this moment of the group and preserve that early live intensity in 360 degrees, like you are there with us! I always drive directors insane with my ideas but in the end, Reinout Hellenthal helped me capture the high-powered live experience and bring you on stage with us during the chaos! You can watch this video 100 times and still find new details, don’t forget to look up!” – BillyBio

Billy Graziadei recently spoke with us about “Feed The Fire,” Powerflo and more subjects, which you can read here.

Lucifer’s Child To Release Second Album, “The Order” In November

Greek black metal supergroup Lucifer’s Child has announced that they will release their sophomore studio album, “The Order” on November 9th, through Agonia Records, with artwork from Daniele Valeriani (Dark Funeral, Dissection, Mayhem.)

Lucifer’s Child originates from Athens. Its music is a bridge to the world of atmospheric black metal, and a vessel for spiritual self-expression through lyrics. The goal of unifying these two elements gleamed clearly in the eyes of George Emmanuel, a prolific guitarist primarily known for his work as part of Rotting Christ (and a former guitarist of Chaostar), when he formed the band together with bassist Stathis Ridis (a member of another long-running Hellenic metal unit, Nightfall) in 2013. Born from a partnership between two talented musicians, the duo quickly expanded to take in vocalist Marios Dupont (Karma Violens) and drummer Nick Vell (Chaostar), and delivered their debut album The Wiccan in 2015. Encouraged by the album’s keen reception, followed by several festival appearences (incl. Inferno Festival, Blastfest and Incineration Festival), Lucifer’s Child returns in a darker, more extreme shade, passionate in outperforming its bold debut.

The Order was recorded, mixed and mastered in Emmanuel’s own recording studio, Pentagram. He commented on the new album: “After three years of converging and sculpting our ideas and sounds we are ready to present our second full length album entitled The Order. Lucifer awaits!”

Tracklisting:

1. Viva Morte
2. The Order
3. Fall Of The Rebel Angels
4. Through Fire We Burn
5. El Dragón
6. Black Heart

8. Siste Farvel

Black Tusk Premiere New Track “Agali” – Set August Release For New Album “T.C.B.T.”

Black Tusk‘s new effort “T.C.B.T.” will be out on August 17 via Season Of Mist. Today the band debut a new track from the album, entitled “Agali“, which you can stream below.

Explain Black Tusk:

“We decided to entitle this record ‘TCBT.’ Its a play on TCB, taking care of business, add a T to the end and its Taking Care of Black Tusk. Its an idea, a slogan if you will that James and Athon came up with some years ago, and since his passing and essentially the reformation of this band we found it fitting for a title.

We turned inward after ‘Pillars Of Ash‘. Corey came on board and we did the tours to support that record playing the songs that we had written with Athon, Then we took some time off and learned how to write with a new member, we took our time and worked out our ideas, we brought new ideas and talents into the fold. This record is something that we are truly proud of, its the culmination of two years of reworking ourselves as a band.

We’ve closed one chapter of this band are starting anew, we are Taking Care of Black Tusk. We recorded this record as a three piece and are going to tour to perform it as a four piece. With a nod to our past and with the knowledge of lessons learned and experience gained, we are heading back out full throttle with a new energy and a new band. When you listen, you will hear Black Tusk, not the old as was, but a new Black Tusk keeping tour roots and carving a new path.”

Adding about the newly premiered song:

“Simply put, Agali means ‘to return.’ I learned of the word from the bandmates of Victoria Scalisi, she passed away from cancer this year along with another of our close friends Jake Trout. Victoria and her bands inspired us to do what we do today and her and Jake were family to us.

This song to us is about passing on and your spirit and energy returning itself into the lives of the people who were close to you and even the lives of complete strangers. Our time here is short and when our bodies pass on, hopefully the good things that we have done and the ideas we have spread will return. So this song is dedicated to the memories of Jake and Victoria, may you always return.”

At The Gates: Details Of New Album “To Drink From The Night Itself” Revealed

At The Gates reveal the official details for their new full-length “To Drink From The Night Itself“. Century Media have the Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir) produced effort scheduled for a May 18th release date. A video produced by Patric Ullaeus (In Flames, Arch Enemy) for the first single will be premiered soon as well.

Comments vocalist Tomas Lindberg of the cover art:

“It has once again been an absolute pleasure working creativily with Costin [Chioreanu.] We had a lot of ideas for what we wanted to get across with the art this time around. Overall they were, not surprisingly, related to the general concept of the record. What is great with Costin is that he understands the band.

He knows what we are and where we come from. And me and him also have a strong artistic connection. I have never met anyone that goes so deep into the world of my lyrics and concepts. When I first wrote to him describing my ideas, I was worried that my remarks were perhaps too long and too confusing, only to get back an even longer and very inspired response…

The inspiration for the actual front cover piece is taken from the Pergamon Altar, on display at the Pergamon museum in Berlin. It is of course linked closely to the concept that the whole record is based upon, but more on that later. But I will throw a name out there, for the interested ones; Peter Weiss.

I can’t wait to get the whole record in my hands now, as this is just one of the many great artwork pieces that Costin has created for us on ‘To Drink From The Night Itself‘…”

01 – “Der Widerstand”
02 – “To Drink From The Night Itself”
03 – “A Stare Bound In Stone”
04 – “Palace Of Lepers”
05 – “Daggers Of Black Haze”

Soulfly To Record New Album In January 2018

Soulfly have announced that they will be entering the studio in January to record the follow-up to 2015’s ‘Archangel’, which will most likely be released in summer 2018 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.

The as of yet untitled album will be recorded with Josh Wilbur who also worked with Max Cavalera’s other band Killer Be Killed, as well as heavy-hitters Lamb Of God and Gojira.

In an interview with Backstage Axxess, Cavalera said:
“I’m actually writing right now. I’m collecting the riffs right now and getting the ideas.” and added: “I’m excited, because I think the album will have a little bit of a return to some tribal sounds that I haven’t done since ‘Prophecy’. So that’ll be cool, to return to some of that. And then the rest of the album will be a continuation of ‘Archangel’; a lot of people like ‘Archangel’. And, of course, I think that it will be also somehow be influenced by ‘Psychosis’, ’cause ‘Psychosis’ was such a cool record that I’m sure that somewhere we’ll have the influence of that on top of it too.”

In another interview with the No Limits Music Show, he explained that the next Soulfly album will be:

“… deeply tribal, very spiritual. There’s a concept. I cannot tell you much about it, ’cause it’s kind of a surprise. But there is a concept behind the record, and I have not done a record with a concept like this since ‘Roots’. So this one has got the same kind of feeling that ‘Roots’ has.”

Stay tuned for more information in due course…

New Album “Pounding The Pavement” Announced By Anvil

Legendary Canadian metal act Anvil announced the next installment in three word album titles – “Pounding the Pavement.” The album will be released on January 19, 2018 through SPV/Steamhammer as a digipak version (+1 bonus track and poster), 2LP gatefold colored version, digital download and streaming platforms.

Of course there are bands that have garnered higher chart positions, sold more albums and filled bigger venues than Anvil. Yet there are few metal acts that have earned as much respect from colleagues as the Canadian act surrounding vocalist/guitarist Steve “Lips” Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner. The most renowned Anvil aficionados include, among others, international stars such as Metallica and the late Lemmy of Motörhead, who have expressed their unreserved admiration time and again. The reasons for this evident respect are obvious: since 1978, Anvil has been the epitome of a passionate heavy metal band that refuses to be thrown off course by setbacks, adverse conditions and inconsistencies on the business side of things. The latest album “Pounding The Pavement” proves their impressive stamina: never before have Anvil sounded as diverse, determined and inspiring.

Why has “Pounding The Pavement” turned into such an awesome offering? Kudlow’s explanation is simple: “The songwriting process started immediately after the work on our previous album, ‘Anvil Is Anvil,’ had been completed,” he says. “So our thoughts instantly turned to the future again. After ‘Anvil Is Anvil’ had been cut, everybody knew what we had just delivered and what Anvil’s future should sound like.”

Despite the diverse range of their ideas, Kudlow, Reiner and their bassist Chris Robertson have succeeded in filling the typical trademarks of this unusual band with life once again – which is an important aspect for every Anvil release, after all tradition and reliability play an essential role in this group. Kudlow: “Of course we always allow inspirations from earlier recordings to seep in, but always with an emphasis on evolving the characteristic Anvil sound. Lots of fans keep asking us to play the way we did in the so-called good old days. That’s why I try from time to time to pick up on that exciting feel of our older material. Mind you, it’s always exclusively about the basic atmosphere of that time, never about copying an older song.”

“Pounding The Pavement” was produced at the Soundlodge studios in Rhauderfehn in the northwest of Germany, where Anvil found not only the necessary peace and seclusion to concentrate on the recordings, but also met in studio owner Jörg Uken the ideal producer for the ambitioned work. Talking of which: the programmatic album title “Pounding The Pavement” is a synonym for the consistently serious challenge of ensuring Anvil’s financial survival. Kudlow: “I feel nothing could describe the way we’ve been working for the past forty years better than ‘Pounding The Pavement’: Anvil have tried for four decades to earn enough money to survive and continue to make music.”

The artwork and track listing can be found here:

1. Bitch In The Box
2. Ego
3. Doing What I Want
4. Smash Your Face
5. Pounding The Pavement
6. Rock That Shit
7. Let It Go

You can’t talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of Ensiferum, and with Two Paths they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, Two Paths is simultaneously the Finnish quintet’s most epic and far-reaching collection and their most organic, which definitely sets it apart from the pack. Additionally, the album literally takes the concept of Two Paths to heart, with two different versions of standout tracks “Don’t You Say” and “God Is Dead”. “Even though Ensiferum has always had clean vocals and choirs, harsh vocals have been the main style, and those songs worked so well with both styles that we decided to include both versions,” explains bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka. With Mikko P. Mustonen again handling orchestral arrangements and Lassi Logren returning to play nyckelharpa and violin on a few songs, Hinkka is also more than happy that they brought “more bombastic orchestral and down to earth folk aspects” to the record, further fleshing out their vision. This also applies to the contribution of Gyula Havancsak, who provided the artwork for both Two Paths and its predecessor, One Man Army. “It was really nice to work with him again because he always wants to hear our ideas and then he adds his own magic and improvements to them, and the result is always astonishing.”

Two Paths track-listing
1. Ajattomasta Unesta
2. For Those About to Fight for Metal
3. Way of the Warrior
