P.O.D. Debuts New Track “Soundboy Killa” – Revised Tour Dates Announced

Grammy-nominated SoCal outfit P.O.D. has dropped a new track titled “Soundboy Killa”. You can hear the song below. Says frontman Sonny Sandoval of it:

“Rock ‘n roll has become entertainment that just says what the consumer wants to hear. There’s no more edge or rebellion that sets it apart from the norm. We choose to be us and write songs that we love playing rather than trying to keep up with trends or what’s hot on the scene. Lyrically, it’s a take off some of the old hip hop and reggae classics that I love. ‘Soundboy Killa‘ is classic P.O.D. guitar riff power, headbanging groove with the lyrical attitude and edge missing in today’s music.”

P.O.D. will be out on the “The Soundboy Killaz Tour” with Alien Ant Farm, Powerflo and Fire From The Gods this fall. Dates can be found below:

We Are Band Nerds Releases “Whore (Mend My Soul)” Lyric Video

Missing the ’90s something fierce? We Are Band Nerds offers up a nu-metal experience from Dallas, Texas, blending elements of jazz, metal, electronic, rap & rock. Check out a lyric video for the song “Whore (Mend My Soul)” below.

We Are Band Nerds has been described as “Deftones meets Outkast, weaving the former’s melodic approach to hard rock with the latter’s eclectic style of hip hop to create a unique tapestry of sound, allowing the music to appeal to a variety of individuals with a range of life experiences.”

New track “Whore” takes you on a journey through the aftermath of a failed relationship, how you emerge as nothing more than a mere shadow of the person you once were. The sheer thought of connecting with another person in the same way fills you with pure disgust and more than anything you just want to close your eyes and scream while you search for your next temporary fix.

“U.D.O. is very proud to present our new tour keyboarder Harrison Young. The band is currently rehearsing for the tour. Harrison already became a fixed part of the U.D.O. family and everybody is highly motivated to kick ass on tour. This is the best U.D.O. ever with a great NEW setlist!!!!

“Harrison Young is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, and audio producer from just outside of New York City, currently living in the Netherlands. In addition to touring and recording with his own two bands, Earth Minor and The Harrison Young Quartet, he has also appeared on numerous albums including metal queen Doro Pesch’s latest release, ‘Raise Your Fist’ and NYC hip hop Legend Talib Kweli’s album Gutter Rainbows, for which Harrison provided the iconic piano riff on the #1 iTunes single, ‘Cold Rain.’

“For the past several years, Harrison has been touring the world with Doro as her keyboardist, appearing at festivals like Wacken, Graspop, and Sweden Rock, in addition to countless headline shows everywhere from Los Angeles to Moscow. Metatrone Recording New Album

Italy’s Catholic metal band Metatrone will soon be following previous full-length albums “The Powerful Hand” and “Paradigma” will a new release.

Jo Lombardo (Vocals), Stefano “Ghigas” Calvagno (Guitars), Davide Bruno (Keybords), Dino Fiorenza (Bass) and Salvo “T-Metal” Grasso (Drums) are currently in the studio putting final touches to the band’s third album, due for release in 2015. The following press release was also issueda bout the band:

“Metatrone is a Christian power-prog metal band formed by musicians coming from many previous musical experiences, mostly involved in metal music. Davide Bruno, Jo Lombardo, Tony Zappa, Virgilio Ragazzi and Stefano ‘Ghigas’ Calvagno formed the band in 1997 under the monicker of Metafora producing with Track Records Productions (TRP) a four track EP called ‘Reazioni e Memorie,’ featuring some amazing anthems like ‘Una Parte di Me.’

“As many things in life changes, it was four years later (2001) that one of the founding members, keyboardist Davide Bruno decided to begin a new spiritual journey bringing him to change completely his life becoming a priest. After this important decision, another one will be essential: Metafora decided to change their monicker to Metatrone from that moment on.

“The new band’s name means ‘God is since now and forever,’ consequently the band begins to write power-prog metal songs deeply inspired by a Christian Catholic view of life and human being. It was in 2005 when they produced with the help of TRP music their first album called ‘La Mano Potente’ soon followed by the english version called ‘The Powerful Hand’ distributed by Scarlet Records in Europe and King Records in Asia.

“After its release, the band begins to play often live in Italy and around the world as well, playing at festivals like Elements of Rock twice, Tumbalong Park and World Youth Day in Australia just to name a few.

“They toured a lot but immediately after they began to write new songs which bring them to a new and highest musical and lyrical level, songs were more influenced by prog but powerful at the same time. Most of that songs will be released on their third studio album, ‘Paradigma.’ The new stunning 13 tracks album was produced by the band and TRP Music, officially released on 25 december 2010: the album features songs sang in english, italian, latin and spanish with some interesting growling vocal choruses performed by priest Davide himself getting very good reviews on the most popular metal magazines like Metal Hammer Italy, Metal Maniac and many other on-line magazines.

“May 2012 the band released a first video clip, ‘In Spe Resurrectionis’ from ‘Paradigma’ (winning also the David Award as best Italian song at V Premios David) while in June 2013 the band released a single track called ‘Heavenly Field’ written against the Zionist policy supporting Gaza population at the time featuring Italian hip hop band One Crew as special guest on vocals.”

Strength Through Suffering Signs With Eulogy Recordings

Long Island’s Strength Through Suffering has inked a deal with Eulogy Recordings, and the label comments:

“Formed in 2009, Strength through Suffering had been on hiatus until original members Dan & Paul decided to get the band back together. With the addition of Paul ‘Romper’ on vocals and C.J. and Charlie to fill out the rhythm section, they were ready to come back harder and more devastating than ever.

“With the release of their 4 song demo in June of 2013, they were bringing their own blend of hardcore, metal & hip hop influences to whoever cared to listen. With everyone trying to make music they think everyone wants to hear, Strength through Suffering was formed on the idea of making the type of music they want to listen to.”

Strength Through Suffering is currently in the studio working on the full-length “Setting Things Straight” album.

Red Bull Music Academy Festival New York Announces Hardcore Activity In Progress

Last year Red Bull Music Academy made history with Drone Activity In Progress, a once-in-a-lifetime experience that took the best and loudest avant-garde artists, mixed them together in a giant door-factory-turned concert venue in Queens, threw in three larger-than-life sound systems, passed out earplugs, and watched what ensued. Drone Activity In Progress was hailed by critics from The New York Times to The Fader, who called the show a “near-perfect noise show.”

This year, Red Bull Music Academy Festival New York has done one better with Hardcore Activity In Progress, taking place on Friday, May 16, 2014. Like last year, the spectacle will go down at the Knockdown Center in Queens, Nuit Blanche will again deliver an unparalleled multi-sensory experience, and Roberta’s Pizza will provide refuge outside for those trying to escape the overpowering intentional noise bleed. But this year, the event will blow open the doors genre-wise, showcasing a sampling of the most extreme recording artists in metal, techno, jazz, classical, noise, hip hop and beyond. It’s a showcase of music that exists at the extremes of their genres, and as such, here’s a guide to the diverse artists playing the event.

The lineup is as follows:

Tim Hecker (Experimental Music)
Skullflower (Drone Rock)
Napalm Death (Grindcore)
Gunplay (Hip-Hop)
Lubomyr Melnyk (Classical)
The Thing (Jazz)
Regis (Techno)
Bastard Noise (Powerviolence)
Wolf Eyes (Noise)
Okkyung Lee (Classical)
clipping. (Hip-Hop)
Yoshiko Ohara (former front woman of Bloody Panda; Vocal Music)
