New Song “Souless” Streaming From Death Yell

Chilean black/death metal act Death Yell released the new song “Soulless,” which you can check out in the player below. The song appears on the long-awaited debut album, “Descent Into Hell,” which will see release later this summer through Hells Headbangers.

Death Yell had a very short but intense life in the late ’80s until they abruptly split up in 1991. For good or bad reasons, their unique demo “Vengeance From Darkness” became a referent and even influential for many brutal death/black metal bands and ‘bangers, raising the band – even after all these years – to the level of an emblematic and even cult name from that time.

Death Yell reunited 20 years after they broke up to come back with the recording of “Back From the Depths” – released in 2013 through Hells Headbangers as a split 7” with Atomic Aggressor.

Says founding guitarist Andrés “Pollo” Lozano about this highly anticipated debut album: “‘Descent Into Hell’ is actually our first full-length after 30 years! We are very pleased to become part of the Hells Headbangers legion, as we wanted to work with a specialized, serious, and well-known underground metal label in order to materialize this project.”

He adds, “It took us quite some time to decide about recording this album. We had to make the decision about either burying the band definitively or take the risk of resurrecting Death Yell… Eventually, we just did it and made all in our hands to keep our original brutality intact. We are quite sure that Death Yell fans will not be disappointed.”

Marcelo Vasco designed the album cover (shown below), who’s also designed the latest album covers of Slayer and Kreator. The release date and preorder will be announced shortly.

The track listing is as follows:

1. Soulless
2. Descent into Hell
3. Cries of the Nazarene
4. Bluffer
5. Betrayed Chastity
6. Purging Demons (acoustic intro)
7. Thy Will be Done
8. Will Never Enjoy
9. Healing by Blood
10. Macabre Fuckfeast

Hells Headbangers Records Signs Hammr For Debut Album

Today, Hells Headbangers announced the signing of Hammr. Highly impressed by the band’s self-titled debut EP in 2015, not to mention hailing from the label’s home base of Cleveland, the first fruit of this union shall be Hammr’s debut album “Unholy Destruction,” which shall be released later this year.

Hammr was formed in Cleveland, Ohio by J. Hammer in 2013. As a strictly solo endeavor, Hammr recorded a full digital-only demos album, which caught the attention of several labels. From there, the band went on to release the Hammr EP in 2015, first digitally and then on cassette tape through Hota Rex, the latter of which quickly sold out. Other plans for releases were delayed due to label managers going to jail as well as the usual financial delays, which led J. Hammer to start releasing demo singles directly to the metal people. It was during this time that he met the folks behind Hells Headbangers and also Demona founder Tanza Speed, who both took a lot of interest in Hammr. Once he received the offer, J. Hammer decided to hold off on recordings for other labels, and use some of his demos and new material for the imminent debut album, “Unholy Destruction.”

Hammr’s influences proudly include early Bathory, Celtic Frost, Iron Angel, Discharge, early Slayer, Sodom, and Venom. “These are influences that get me going,” says J. Hammer, “and also embody the spirit of my music, but Hammr is definitely not a ‘worship’ band. I dub it ‘Satanic speed,’ as it combines fast speed metal riffing with D-beat drums and relentless arrangements. This isn’t a quick-startup, Lemmy-worshiping metal/punk band that we see a lot of; Hammr goes for your throat and doesn’t give a fuck about that shit.”

No politics, no party, no drinks: J. Hammer is an introverted lone-wolf, and has since become the guitarist and active songwriter for Demona, who played last year’s Hells Headbangers-curated Hells Headbash. At present, Hammr is finishing up drums for Unholy Destruction at Audio Alchemy Studios, and finishing guitars, bass, vocals, and mixing with Vanik from Midnight. Toxic Holocaust maiman Joel Grind is handling the mastering, with the album slated to be complete by early March.

A statement from J. Hammer reads: “I’m honored to be part of the Hells Headbangers roster, a label I have followed for years and also from my hometown of Cleveland. I’m very excited to unleash Unholy Destruction through such a well-respected and renowned label.” More Hammr news to be revealed shortly.

Hobbs’ Angel Of Death Signs With Hells Headbangers To Release New Album

Today Hells Headbangers announces the signing of Australia’s legendary Hobbs’ Angel of Death. The first fruit of this union shall be the band’s long-awaited comeback album, “Heaven Bled,” which will be released this fall by Hells Headbangers.

Helmed by one relentless maniac named Peter Hobbs, Hobbs’ Angel of Death is one of the more unsung cult favorites of ’80s metal. Hailing from Australia many years before it was cool to do so, the band released two classic demos in 1987, “Angel of Death” and the telltale “Virgin Metal Invasion From Down Under,” before time came for the inevitable debut album.

That album, 1988’s self-titled opus, was released by Steamhammer during the label’s glory years, and quickly found a devoted legion of fans enthralled to Hobbs’ Kreator-meets-Dark Angel style of deathrash. It would be many years before a follow-up, 1995’s “Inheritance,” and the band broke up not long after.

Come 2002, however, Hobbs’ Angel of Death would re-form and play a number of European festivals and scattered tour dates over the next decade, but aside from the “Hobbs’ Satan Crusade” compilation of the two demos, no new material had yet arisen.

But now, courtesy of longtime fans Hells Headbangers, the first all-new recording of Hobbs’ Angel of Death in over two decades has finally come to pass. In anticipation of the “Heaven Bled” release, Hobbs’ Angel of Death will be touring the United States this August and September.
