1349 Premiere New Song “Dødskamp”

1349 premiere a new track titled “Dødskamp“, which is part of a four song compilation that spans multiple musical genres inspired by the work of world-renowned Norwegian painter Edvard Munch. That collection has enlisted multiple bands and was commissioned by the Munch Musem, Innovasjon Norge and Visit Norway.

You can hear the song below, while a single for it backed with a live performance of “Atomic Chapel” will land in stores as a 10” on April 05th.

Comments 1349’s guitarist Archaon:

“Munch is unquestionably one of the most important Norwegian artists. His work is dark and eerie and reflects a lot of anxiety, pain, and loneliness in the way I perceive them. So it suited us perfectly. I found this very exciting, especially as I’ve grown up with several Munch pieces on the walls. I chose the work “Dødskamp“, which directly translates to “Death Struggle” which speaks volumes for itself. It was an emotionally Heavy task, and also a completely New way to compose and execute [for us]. It created some very long, sleepless nights but in the end it was worth it. This is our soundtrack to the dilemma of mortality.”

Spiritbox (Ex-Iwrestledabearonce) Premiere New Music Video “Perennial”

Spiritbox – featuring various members of Iwrestledabearonce fame – premiere a new music video for their song “Perennial“. Dylan Hryciuk directed the video for that track.

Comments frontwoman Courtney LaPlante:

“‘Perennial‘ was written for our friend that has to spend years in and out of the hospital due to his many severe health battles. Our last release really resonated with him and he was there supporting us every step of the way while we developed our music. I am not a very good communicator but I feel like I can express myself better through my songs so I want him to listen to ‘Perennial‘ and know that I appreciate how much work he puts in to stay positive, and that it’s ok to acknowledge the agony he has been through.”

“I hope other people can feel this as well when they hear the song, and interpret it in a way that makes them feel whatever they want, happy or sad, pain is complicated. I just don’t want them to give up.”

Accursed Spawn Posts “Putrid” Studio Webisode

Canadian death metal outfit Accursed Spawn has released a webisode from the drum recording sessions for upcoming EP, “Putrid,” which can be seen below.

Jay Cross (drums) commented on the video, “We had some footage laying around from the ‘Putrid’ drum recordings so Luke [vocals] and I decided to edit it together and post it up on YouTube. Half the material is the standard drum recording stuff, and the other half gives people a flavor for what recording with us is actually like. In other words, empty beer bottles and stupid jokes. We’re a pretty deep band.”

The “Putrid” EP will be independently released on October 28th, marking the band’s second EP since 2012’s “Engendering a Sociopath.” You can hear the song “Burned Into Sterility” at this location.
