Voivod Begins Recording First Full Length New Album In Five Years

Canadian progressive thrash veterans Voivod has announced via a short post on Facebook that they have today entered the studio to begin recording a new album. The message, which simply read: “It is with great enthousiasm that we announce that Voivod is entering the Studio today for the next full length album! Exciting! Stay connected!” means that this will be the band’s first full length album since 2013’s, “Target Earth.” The gap has been filled in the meantime with the 2016 EP, “Post Society,” which comprised of songs released as split singles with Entombed A.D., Napalm Death and At The Gates, as well as a cover of the Hawkwind classic, “Silver Machine” and the title track.

In an interview with Rock Sverige earlier this year, drummer Michel Langevin (AKA, Away) stated that the new record would be a concept album and that it could very likely also be a double album, given the lengths of some of the songs. No further details have been confirmed as of yet.

Eye Posts “Dweller Of The Twilight Void” Video

With the “Vision And The Ageless Light” LP approaching release through Laser’s Edge later this month, Ohio-based psychedelic/prog quartet Eye just debuted a video for “Dweller Of The Twilight Void.”

The band offers, “‘Dweller Of The Twilight Void’ was the final song to be written and recorded for Vision And Ageless Light…We met at our dimly lit studio one evening and performed over the already tracked acoustic guitar and constantly drifting Mellotron. Brandon and I sang together as I played the Moog straight through to the end. Jon rolling through it with us on second acoustic, and Michael putting it all together on upright bass.

“It was fun and fulfilling to capture that moment which we feel is the epicenter of the record in such a gliding session. Some songs don’t come so easily. There were definitely lots of laughter, smiles, and smoke rings swirling with the frequency and spirit of this song that night…”

Laser’s Edge will issue “Vision And The Ageless Light: on CD, LP, and digital formats this coming November 18th, 2016. You can also catch Eye live on these dates:

11/11/2016 The Union – Athens, OH w/ Hawkwind
11/13/2016 The Grog Shop – Cleveland, OH w/ Hawkwind

White Hills Streaming “No Will” From “Walks For Motorists”

White Hills’ fuzzed-out motorik spacerock gets a makeover on the newly released album “Walks for Motorists,” which was recorded in Wales with David Wrench (FKA Twigs, Bear in Heaven, Owen Pallett).

Wrench strips down the band’s sound, replacing the Hawkwind-esque walls of guitar with shimmering synths and no shortage of psychedelic groove. To get a taste of the album, check out the song “No Will” in the player below.
